This paper analyzes the accessibility of the elderly population in relation to urban transportation in the city of Rio Claro - SP. After a study of the physiology, infrastructure, history and legislation of the city, there were collected and analyzed data obtained through semi-structured interviews with the elderly population that makes use of public transport with the aim of identifying the user's profile as well as their impressions and criticism of the service. The Department of Transport and Urban Mobility of Rio Claro provided general information related to public transport in the city. After all the survey, it can be seen that, although a significant portion of the elderly population make use of public transport, there are problems related to the structure of the city, which hinders the movement of buses, and the accessibility of the elderly, caused by physical characteristics of the vehicles, attitude of the motorists and aspects of public administration of the town. These data support the conclusion that there is often a disregard for the rights of the elderly and that it not only should as it can be corrected

Due to an intense process of population growth and urban density in Americana (SP), mainly due to the development of the local textile industry after 1970, there was, concomitant to the occupation of the margin of rivers and streams, soil sealing that increased the level of superficial runoff, triggering frequent floods. Based on the analysis of these processes we investigate the conditions of one densely urbanized area of the county, the Crrego do Parque, in three time series, 1977, 1996 and 2008. Taking as the starting the characterization and spatial distribution of landscape physiography, we prepared thematic letters and synthetic maps digital scale 1:10,000 from photointerpretation of aeroframes. The thematic maps were produced by scanning with subsequent edition using the software Auto-Cad Map. Checking the data and of geographic coordinates with GPS (Global Positioning System). Regarding land use classes, we used the description of the Soil Conservation Service (1975) which allowed us to get the Curve Number parameter, which will be used in hydrologic modeling for verification of flooding (Tucci, 1989). For the process of hydrologic modeling, we used models based on Methodology Object Oriented Modeling Applied to Water Resource Systems, Viegas Filho (1999), using the computer program called IPHS1, which uses models of the Soil Conservation Service (SCS , 2004), for conversion of rainfall-runoff and the spread of excessive rain. The results indicate that increased waterproofing generated by the change in use and occupation over the past decades promoted the increased surface runoff and drainage system overload, increasing the intensity of floods

The development of medium-sized cities in recent decade, caused, partly, by the industrial deconcentration process generated, beyond benefits, several problems for these cities population. The unplanned rapid growth of these cities, together with the capitalist model of production collaborated for the increase of socioeconomics questions in these locations. The urban mobility became one of these problems, embarrassing citizens lives, especially in downtown area. Therefore, the State began looking for solutions to improve urban mobility of the population, contributing to their quality of life and also to adapt the city to new market demand. In these work, we analyzed the situation of Brazilian medium-sized cities downtown area, as well as its growth process, tanking as an example the case of the city of Rio Claro SP and its Public Administration proposal to improve the flow and urban mobility in a particular street in the towns commercial centre

The management of urban areas must consider aspects related to urban drainage, especially in hot and humid environments, and such aspects must be incorporated on director plans. This is quite important in urban areas settled on natural fragile hydro-geomorphologic areas. So, the main aim of this paper was to present the urban drainage diagnostic made in Rio Claro (SP-Brazil), discussing its results and evaluating the applied techniques. Further, there were presented some proposed directions based on such analyses. From the obtained results it was possible to verify that the impacts caused by the inefficient urban drainage system incur on direct and indirect effects such as flood, erosion and water quality degradation.

The purpose of this research was to present the principles for the implementation of a future water body classification program at the UGRHI-1 (Management Unit of Water Resources-1/So Paulo, Brazil) using qualitative and quantitative water modeling. Our study area was in Campos do Jordo, a city in the state of So Paulo, specifically in the Perdizes river watershed, which is included in the UGRHI-1. The water quality assessment used a modeling mehtodology that can support a future study for the classification of water bodies in the region. The behavior of DO and BOD parameters was assessed in the water quality scenarios, considering the variations of flows, loads, reductions in withdrawals and different efficiencies in sewage treatment. The model used was QUAL2E developed by USEPA (United States Environmental Protection Agency) that received a new graphic interface named QUAL2R model. The reference flows Q7,10, Q95% and Qm used were obtained through the DAEE (Department of Water and Electric Energy) hydrologic regionalization method. It was noted that of the 9 proposed scenarios, only scenario 6 that was predicted in the flow regime Qm with the existence of a treatment system capable of removing 93% of the BOD, in the Perdizes River remained 67.5% of the time in class 2. Scenario 8 predicted a 50% reduction in In scenario 8 a reduction of 50% in the flow captured in CA-04, associated with the efficiency of 93% of BOD removal keeping the river in class 2. In scenario 9 the minimum required efficiency in sewage treatment in the flow regime Q95% for keeping the river in class 2 was also calculated and the value of 94.7% was obtained.

The constant misuse of land in Permanent Preservation Areas (APPs) have been recurrent, especially in urban areas, where the dynamics of change is constant. The protection of these areas to maintain a balance in the ecosystem and the population's quality of life is fundamentally important. So it is of utmost important to draw up a mechanism that can help in decision-making in relation to measures for the protection, mitigation of damages that are being caused and revitalization of these areas. Thus, a managing these areas based on the PMBOK (Project Management Body of Knowledge) in order to create mechanisms to facilitate the protection and revitalization of APPs, could be of great help for making public decision-making bodies that are entrusted to protect such areas. Based on this, we elaborated a project management in order to revitalize and protect the APPs in urban area of Rio Claro, SP and could become a model for future use by public bodies

The development of cities is initially nearby rivers and with the intensification of the urbanization process occurs the soil sealing, leading to an increased level of water runoff, and, consequently, in a greater number of floods. The main goal of this study is to verify the interference of land occupation in the floods of the Lavaps Stream basin, Rio Claro (SP), in five temporal series, 1962, 1972, 1988, 1995 and 2014. The characterizations of land use were made from photo-interpretation and, thus, were produced thematic maps on scale 1: 20.000. The description of the Soil Conservation Service, 2007 was the basis for the classification of land use, thus achieving the CN parameter (Curve Number) used in hydrologic modeling done in IPHS1 program. The results indicate that soil sealing associated with the growth of the city of Rio Claro are responsible for increasing of the discharge in the Lavaps Stream basin and floods in this watershed

A qualidade de vida para o ser humano depende do resultado das relaes entre os processos biolgicos, ecolgicos, culturais e socioeconmicos que acontecem no espao. Assim, a preocupao com a influncia de zonas urbanas sobre o meio ambiente e a populao tem sido um tema de crescente importncia no Brasil, associando o desenvolvimento de novas polticas de gesto e reestruturao de grandes cidades. Nessa discusso, incluiu-se a questo da transformao da paisagem em ambientes urbanos, com impacto na manuteno dos servios ecossistmicos e na qualidade de vida da populao humana. Este estudo props a caracterizao da evoluo da cobertura e uso do solo para a cidade de Carapicuba, na Grande So Paulo, atravs da elaborao de seis mapas temticos de uso e ocupao do solo do municpio, entre o perodo de 1962 e 2013. Alm disso o projeto tambm pretendia fazer a modelagem de cenrios futuros de mudanas, atravs de uma abordagem baseada no uso integrado de sensoriamento remoto, sistema de informaes geogrficas e modelos espaciais dinmicos. Os mapas temticos foram elaborados atravs de trs mosaicos de fotografias areas adquiridas em 1962, 1972 e 1994, uma imagem orbital do sensor Ikonos de 2002, um mosaico de ortofotos areas adquirido em 2008, e uma imagem do sistema orbital RapidEye adquirida em 2013, para avaliao da dinmica de ocupao da superfcie da terra. As datas de imageamento disponveis conseguiram representar momentos diferentes na histria do municpio, referentes a acontecimentos importantes e que influenciaram significativamente na alterao da paisagem urbana: o grande crescimento demogrfico e a construo das vias de acesso a Carapicuba. As anlises de dados e discusses apontam que o tipo de via de acesso Carapicuba e o tipo de uso do solo urbano, influenciaram na estratificao socioeconmica e na conservao de cobertura vegetal...
