The growth of molds on paper containing cellulose is a frequent occurrence when the level of relative air humidity is high or when books become wet due to water leaks in libraries. The aim of this study is to differentiate the bioreceptivity of different types of book paper for different fungi. Laboratory tests were performed with strains of Aspergillus niger, Cladosporium sp., Chaetomium globosum and Trichoderma harzianum isolated from books. Four paper types were evaluated: couche Men (offset), recycled and a reference paper containing only cellulose. The tests were carried out in chambers with relative air humidity of 95% and 100%. Mold growth was greatest in the tests at 100% relative humidity. Results of stereoscopic microscopy observation showed that Cladosporium sp. grew in 74% of these samples, A. niger in 75%, T. harzianum in 72% and C. globosum in 60%. In the chambers with 95% air humidity Cladosporium sp. grew in only 9% of the samples, A. niger in 1%, T harzianum in 3% and C globosum did not grow in any sample. The most bioreceptive paper was couche and the least receptive was recycled paper. The composition of the recycled paper, however, varies depending on the types of waste materials used to make it. This paper compares the analytical performance of microchannels fabricated in PDMS, glass, and polyester-toner for electrophoretic separations. Glass and PDMS chips were fabricated using well-established photolithographic and replica-molding procedures, respectively. PDMS channels were sealed against three different types of materials: native PDMS, plasma-oxidized PDMS, and glass. Polyester-toner chips were micromachined by a direct-printing process using an office laser printer. All microchannels were fabricated with similar dimensions according to the limitations of the direct-printing process (width/depth 150 mu m/12 mu m). LIF was employed for detection to rule out any losses in separation efficiency due to the detector configuration. Two fluorescent dyes, coumarin and fluorescein, were used as model analytes. Devices were evaluated for the following parameters related to electrophoretic separations: EOF, heat dissipation, injection reproducibility, separation efficiency, and adsorption to channel wall.

Customers put their printing suppliers to severe claims for shorter production time and faster deliveries.Printers always look for new solutions to increase the satisfaction of their customers. Oneexample of such a solution is web to print, where the customers book their printed matters atInternet.The solution involves design of printed matter by using templates that are made unique for thecustomer's printed matter. Web to print is suitable for reiterated printed matters. By using templatesthe customer doesn´t have to redo their layout for every new edition. Bromma tryck AB hasinvested the system CiPublisher, which is applied for the customer to make their printed matter atInternet.The purpose of the examination work is to investigate the needs of the customers of Brommatryck for a web to print solution and how such a system should be adapted.The result shows that the customer who is in need of a web to print solution wish such a system tobe easy managed and also usable. The customer inquiry also shows that most of the customers primarydesire for start using such a solution is that it will save time and also simplify the process formanufacturing of printing matters.

This thesis investigates how the optical properties of paperboard influences printing with targets in ISO 12647-2. The targets for optical properties in ISO 12647-2 are defined for paperboard without optical brightening agents and fluorescent brightening agents wich makes it difficult to reach the targets when printing paperboard containing these agents.Seven different types of paperboard, some with and some without the agents, have been printed and instrumentally andvisually measured to see if there is any deviation from the standard targets and if it shows visually.The result shows that paperboard containing optical brightening agents and fluorescent brightening agents can print with targets in ISO 12647-2 but in many measurments the difference between the types of paperboard were to small to assess. The differences between the types of paperboard in the instrumental measurements did not fully correspond with the waythe panel appraised them visually.

Uma nova rede de polímeros interpenetrantes (IPN) baseada em poliuretana de óleo de mamona e poli(etileno glicol) e poli(metacrilato de metila) foi preparada para ser utilizada como eletrólito polimérico. Os seguintes parâmetros de polimerização foram avaliados: massa molecular do poli(etileno glicol) (PEG), concentração de PEG e concentração de metacrilato de metila. As membranas de IPN foram caracterizadas por calorimetria diferencial de varredura (DSC) e espectroscopia de infravermelho por transformada de Fourier (FT-IR). Os eletrólitos de redes de polímeros interpenetrantes (IPNE) foram preparados a partir da dopagem com sal de lítio através do inchamento numa solução de 10% em massa de LiClO4 na mistura de carbonato de etileno e carbonato de propileno na razão mássica de 50:50. As IPNEs foram caracterizadas por espectroscopia de impedância eletroquímica e Raman. As IPNEs foram testadas como eletrólito polimérico em supercapacitores. As células capacitivas foram preparadas utilizando eletrodos de polipirrol (PPy). Os valores de capacitância e eficiência foram calculados por impedância eletroquímica, voltametria cíclica e ciclos galvonostáticos de carga e descarga. Os valores de capacitância obtidos foram em torno de 90 F.g-1 e eficiência variou no intervalo de 88 a 99%. Os valores de densidade de potência foram superiores a 250 W.kg-1 enquanto que a densidade de energia variou de 10 a 33 W.h.kg-1, dependendo da composição da IPNE. As características eletroquímicas do eletrólito formado pela IPN-LiClO4 (IPNE) foram comparadas aos eletrólitos poliméricos convencionais, tais como poli(difluoreto de vinilideno)-(hexafluorpropileno) ((PVDF-HFP/LiClO4) e poliuretana comercial (Bayer desmopan 385) (PU385/LiClO4). As condutividades na temperatura ambiente foram da ordem de 10-3 S.cm-1. A capacitância da célula utilizando eletrodos de PPy com eletrólito de PVDFHFP foi de 115 F.g-1 (30 mF.cm-2) e 110 F.g-1 (25 mF.cm-2) para a célula com PU385 comparadas a 90 F.g-1 (20 mF.cm-2) para a IPNE. Os capacitores preparados com eletrólito de IPNE apresentaram valores de capacitância inferior aos demais, entretanto provaram ser mais estáveis e mais resistentes aos ciclos de carga/descarga. A interpenetração de duas redes poliméricas, PU e PMMA produziu um eletrólito com boa estabilidade mecânica e elétrica. Um protótipo de supercapacitor de estado sólido foi produzindo utilizando eletrodos impressos de carbono ativado (PCE) e o eletrólito polimérico de IPNE. A técnica de impressão de carbono possui várias vantagens em relação aos outros métodos de manufatura de eletrodos de carbono, pois a área do eletrodo, espessura e composição são variáveis que podem ser controladas experimentalmente. As células apresentaram uma larga janela eletroquímica (4V) e valores da capacitância da ordem de 113 mF.cm-2 (16 F.g-1). Métodos alternativos de preparação do PCE investigados incluem o uso de IPNE como polímero de ligação ao carbono ativado, estes eletrodos apresentaram valores de capacitância similares aos produzidos com PVDF. A influência do número de camadas de carbono usadas na produção do PCE também foi alvo de estudo. Em relação ao eletrólito polimérico, o plastificante e o sal de lítio foram adicionados durante a síntese, formando a IPNGel. As células apresentaram alta capacitância e boa estabilidade após 4000 ciclos de carga e descarga. As membranas de IPN foram testadas também como reservatório de medicamento em sistemas de transporte transdérmico por iontoforese. Os filmes, mecanicamente estáveis, formaram géis quando inchado em soluções saturadas de lidocaina.HCl, anestésico local, em propileno glicol (PG), poli(etileno glicol) (PEG400) e suas misturas. O grau de inchamento em PG foi de 15% e 35% em PEG400. Agentes químicos de penetração foram utilizados para diminuir a resistência da barreira causada pela pele, dentre eles o próprio PG, a 2-pirrolidinona (E1) e a 1-dodecil-2-pirrolidinona (E2). Os géis foram caracterizados por espectroscopia de impedância eletroquímica e transporte passivo e por iontoforese através de uma membrana artificial (celofane). O sistema IPN/ lidocaina.HCl apresentou uma correlação linear entre medicamento liberado e a corrente aplicada. Os melhores resultados de transporte de medicamento foram obtidos utilizando o PG como solvente.

Este trabalho trata da aplicabilidade, ao livro eletrônico e ao leitor de livro eletrônico, da imunidade tributária dos livros, jornais, periódicos e o papel destinado à sua impressão, veiculada no artigo 150, VI, “d”, Constituição Federal. A doutrina brasileira e a jurisprudência do Supremo Tribunal Federal entendem que o objetivo da imunidade tributária do livro é garantir a liberdade de expressão e a difusão cultural por meio da vedação à instituição de impostos sobre os livros, jornais, periódicos e o papel destinado à sua impressão. Entretanto, apesar de a doutrina empregar interpretação ampliativa dos ditames da mencionada imunidade, o Supremo Tribunal Federal, atualmente, possui uma postura restritiva, entendimento consolidado com a edição da Súmula 657. Sustenta-se no presente trabalho que tanto a doutrina como a jurisprudência do Supremo Tribunal Federal confundem os conceitos de livro com aquele relacionado ao seu suporte, por partirem de premissa equivocada, isto é, da indissociabilidade do E-Book do seu suporte físico.

This paper treats confessional printings as a non formal space for the female education. It reflects on the importance of the woman s role to the diffusion of Protestantism in general, and its Presbyterian trend in particular, besides commenting on the proliferation of printings at the First Republic and its relation with education. In this study, Brazilian Northeastern is seen as a relevant space to the diffusion of Protestantism in Brazil; especially on what concerns the relations between Rio Grande do Norte and Pernambuco. Thereby some fountains were fundamental, as the confessional printings, that is, newspapers, magazines, prospects and other materials recollected in archives located in Natal/RN and Recife/PE, and São Paulo. It was also provided a brief incursion on Portuguese confessional printings kept in Oporto, PT. New Cultural History was chosen as theoretic-methodological guide, franchising ways inside the history of book and reading with the help of concepts like Interdependence, Social Configuration (ELIAS, 1993, 1994) and Representation (CHARTIER, 1990), considering that the survey worked out culture-manufactured products that is, intentional materials. It is well known that publishing, or better, the dissemination of printed material used to be associated to Protestants missionary practices since Reform began and, as what concerns the investigated period, in Portuguese and Brazilian lands indistinctly. Printing material in general books, booklets, fragments, as well as the press itself played a central role in divulging reformed ideas, their social options and the means of being and intervening in the world. In this regard, the confessional printings established themselves as an educative, although non schooled, informal space, but, all considered, relevant, seen that they dialogue with another important demand of that social group: formal, literate education. Because it dealt with the diffusion of a printed culture supported by the written word, it required of that group a different modus operandi: formal education. The first letters schools at first, then the high schools later represented spaces established for the circulation of printing material in order that they should be read, divulged and comprehended. This survey intends at last to take a look at Protestantism which, in this context of self-affirmation, reserved a specific place to woman by working out a non formal educational proposal disseminated by printing material. Three models were highlighted in the reformed proposal: Christian education in itself, household education, whose references of motherhood and care towards the neighbor were present and, at last, education to the public space, with emphasis on the practice of teaching. This study also offers a brief dialogue between Brazil and Portugal because, when some periodic printing, book or something like that got to be published in one margin of the Atlantic Ocean, the other margin surely was affected by that feat, received it, divulged it, corroborating the argument in support of the circulation of these printings. It was not only the same language that survived in both maritime coasts; some protestant specificities also crossed out along that sea

Fifteen stallions of different breeds, age 3-11 years, had their right testicles evaluated by fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC). Cytological analysis showed the following spermatogenic cell types: spermatogonia (1.6% +/- 1.1); spermatocyte I (3.4% +/- 2.2); spermatocyte II (0.8% +/- 0.7); early spermatids (25.5% +/- 9.5); late spermatids (37.0% +/- 9.3). Spermatozoal numbers were expressed as the spermatic index (SI = 31.5% +/- 8.5) and Sertoli cells mere expressed as the Sertoli cell index (SEI = 20.9% +/- 17.0) (means +/- s.d). Identification of cell types was relatively easy and no immediate adverse effects of aspiration were noted. The results suggest that FNAC of testis may assist clinical diagnosis in the study of male equine infertility.

Purpose: This study tested the hypothesis that early integration of plateau root form endosseous implants is significantly affected by surgical drilling technique.Materials and Methods: Sixty-four implants were bilaterally placed in the diaphysial radius of 8 beagles and remained 2 and 4 weeks in vivo. Half the implants had an alumina-blasted/acid-etched surface and the other half a surface coated with calcium phosphate. Half the implants with the 2 surface types were drilled at 50 rpm without saline irrigation and the other half were drilled at 900 rpm under abundant irrigation. After euthanasia, the implants in bone were nondecalcified and referred for histologic analysis. Bone-to-implant contact, bone area fraction occupancy, and the distance from the tip of the plateau to pristine cortical bone were measured. Statistical analyses were performed by analysis of variance at a 95% level of significance considering implant surface, time in vivo, and drilling speed as independent variables and bone-to-implant contact, bone area fraction occupancy, and distance from the tip of the plateau to pristine cortical bone as dependent variables.Results: The results showed that both techniques led to implant integration and intimate contact between bone and the 2 implant surfaces. A significant increase in bone-to-implant contact and bone area fraction occupancy was observed as time elapsed at 2 and 4 weeks and for the calcium phosphate-coated implant surface compared with the alumina-blasted/acid-etched surface.Conclusions: Because the surgical drilling technique did not affect the early integration of plateau root form implants, the hypothesis was refuted. The planning of the transportation sector in Brazil has long been the railroads as the main engineering system of the country. Thus, it was used to carry, in addition to the physical integration of the national territory, the consolidation of its domestic market. However, after entering in the 1980s, the planning of the sector is left out, and an inversion of the matrix of development is observed, with share gains in monoculture economy and on development of new areas where agricultural expansion advanced. This situation culminated in logistics blackouts in the 1990s and the resumption of sector planning in the early twenty-first century. At this time, it establishes a new institutional apparatus that ensures the participation of private capital in the sector, as well as a new principle for resolving bottlenecks concentrated regions (economically dynamic), from targeting investments to areas of primary economies that only in recent decades have been incorporated into the national economy.

There are few studies about the distribution of natural molecular variants of low-risk HPVs. Our aim was to evaluate the E6 early gene variability among HPV-6 and HPV-11 isolates detected in recurrent respiratory papillomatosis (RRP) samples obtained in a cohort of Brazilian patients. We also performed a phylogenetic analysis in order to compare nucleotide sequences identified in our study with previously reported isolates from different anatomic sites (laryngeal papillomas, genital warts, cervical cancer and anal swabs) obtained from other parts of the world to determine the phylogenetic relationships of variants detected in Brazil. The complete coding region of the E6 gene of 25 samples was cloned and sequenced: 18 isolates of HPV-6 (72%) and 7 isolates of HPV-11 (28%). A total of four different HPV-6 genomic variants and two HPV-11 genomic variants was identified. It was not possible to correlate specific variants with disease severity. Phylogenetic trees for both HPV types were constructed enclosing both E6 sequences detected in our study and formerly published sequences. In both phylogenetic trees, the sequences from Brazil did not group together. We could not establish a geographical association between HPV-6 or HPV-11 variants, unlike HPV-16 and HPV-18. © 2013 Elsevier B.V.
