Software de gestión para una instalación deportiva

En el presente proyecto se ha desarrollado una aplicación para gestionar una instalación deportiva. Esta aplicación ha sido elaborada siguiendo el ciclo de vida en cascada. El software obtenido es de tipo cliente/servidor y ha sido realizado con la tecnología orientada a objetos utilizando Java como lenguaje de programación, RMI como mecanismo para acceder a las operaciones del sistema de forma remota, y proporcionando a los usuarios una interfaz muy clara y amigable.

Hold the Gluten! Can coeliac consumers enjoy risk-free dining

Can coeliac consumers enjoy risk-free dining? This project was designed to assess awareness of coeliac condition and to highlight the importance of providing gluten-free food. The survey was conducted in two parts: first, our samplers purchased gluten-free meals from restaurants, and then they completed a questionnaire. This asked questions relating to their purchasing experience and the level of knowledge displayed by restaurant staff. Their whole meal was then dispatched to the laboratory for analysis of the gluten content. Our samplers found that they were able to identify and purchase a gluten-free meal from the restaurants that they visited. While some were supplied with meals that actually contained gluten, the level of gluten in those meals varied considerably. Our samplers ordered 260 meals. Sixteen per cent of these contained gluten, and six and a half per cent were deemed unsatisfactory (containing more than 200mg/kg of gluten). Some of these samples could produce acute illness in coeliac customers. It is likely that the samples with low levels of gluten had been cross-contaminated, while those containing higher levels are more likely to contain some form of gluten in the ingredients. Food service staff rely on advice and input from the chef or manager to recommend and serve a glutenfree meal. Confident staff and well-signposted menu choices do not guarantee risk-free dining for coeliac customers. The survey result supports our view that robust training is required to improve the knowledge of chefs, managers and staff, and help them to manage this hazard. Comparació de SIG basats en codi lliure i SIG comercials

El present document presenta una valoració comparativa de dos sistemes d'informació geogràfica (SIG) desenvolupats sobre filosofies ben diferents, per un costat un producte comercial de desenvolupament propietari, GeoMedia Professional, i per l'altre un sistema desenvolupat sota les condicions del programari lliure, gvSIG. L'objectiu a assolir és descriure en quina situació es troba el producte de codi lliure vers el seu equivalent comercial pel fet d'haver estat desenvolupat més recentment.

Adénocarcinome meibomien du bord libre palpébral. A propos d'une observation [Meibomian adenocarcinoma of the free palpebral edge. Report of a case].

A case of meibomian carcinoma of the left eyelid is reported in a 72-year-old female patient. The tumor had been present on the left eyelid for months. Clinically, the tumor appeared as a reddish mass implanted on the external part of the free margin of the left superior eyelid. An excisional biopsy disclosed meibomian carcinoma. A total resection of the left superior eyelid was followed by plastic surgery. Results after a one-month follow-up were very satisfactory. This case is emphasizes the importance of an early diagnosis which enabled us to perform a rather conservative treatment limited to the removal of the affected eyelid. The diagnosis of meibomian carcinoma is infrequent but it must be kept in mind in cases of tumor without the typical clinical characteristics of a basal cell or squamous cell carcinoma. Complete removal surgery may bring a curative effect and histopathology has a key role in the diagnosis of meibomian carcinoma.

Yingti/ruanti (hardware/software). La création d'un hall culturel hakka à Taiwan

Dans le cadre de la politique multiculturelle de protection des minorités menée par le gouvernement taïwanais, le Comité ministériel aux affaires hakka (keweihui) a planifié dix-huit « halls culturels hakkas » dans chaque comté et municipalité. L'article retrace le processus de création d'un de ces halls, dans le nord de l'île de Taiwan, au cours de la décennie 2000. L'aménagement du hall procède à l'incorporation d'artistes locaux dans une tradition nationale hakka réinventée. Il est montré comment sa genèse s'est produite à l'intersection d'une politique impulsée par « le haut » et d'un projet émanant d'acteurs locaux. L'article met en évidence comment les catégories yingti (hardware) et ruanti (software) président à sa fabrication et impliquent une opposition et une complémentarité entre « contenant » et « contenu », entre « État » et « société », qui agissent à toutes les étapes de sa mise en oeuvre.

Aquest treball final de carrera consisteix en la creació d'un complement que afegeix noves característiques a un navegador conegut com Firefox produït i proporcionat pel Projecte Mozilla. Aquest projecte desenvolupa, implementa i promou el programari lliure. El complement consisteix en un filtre de pàgines web a nivell de contingut.

Desenvolupament d'un videojoc 3D basat en OpenGL

En aquest treball es presenta una aplicació gràfica per a desenvolupar un videojoc de tema lliure, amb premisses senzilles però fermes i amb la utilització d'unes eines el funcionament de les qual s'ha assolit durant la carrera i s?ha aprofundit durant el temps que ha durat la confecció d'aquest projecte.

Role of the transcriptional factor C/EBPbeta in free fatty acid-elicited beta-cell failure.

Fatty acids can favour the development of Type 2 diabetes by reducing insulin secretion and inducing apoptosis of pancreatic beta-cells. Here, we show that sustained exposure of the beta-cell line MIN6 or of isolated pancreatic islets to the most abundant circulating fatty acid palmitate increases the level of C/EBPbeta, an insulin transcriptional repressor. In contrast, two unsaturated fatty acids, oleate and linoleate were without effect. The induction of C/EBPbeta elicited by palmitate was prevented by inhibiting the ERK1/2 MAP kinase pathway or by reducing mitochondrial fatty acid oxidation with an inhibitor of Carnitine Palmitoyl Transferase-1. Overexpression of C/EBPbeta mimicked the detrimental effects of palmitate and resulted in a drastic reduction in insulin promoter activity, impairment in the capacity to respond to secretory stimuli and an increase in apoptosis. Our data suggest a potential involvement of C/EBPbeta as mediator of the deleterious effects of unsaturated free fatty acids on beta-cell function.

El joc del TERCETI : una unitat didàctica multimèdia sobre GNU/LINUX amb suport DVB-MHP i SCORM.

Fent ús del programari lliure s'ha generat la unitat didàctica del joc del terceti per a la televisió digital interactiva i s'ha desada en format SCORM. La facilitat d'ús del comandament a distància fa possible practicar un tipus de t-learning fonamentat en l'edutainment (education+entertaiment) i provoca que el teleespectador passiu passi a ser un "teleusuari" més actiu.

Construcció d'una eina pel tractament automatitzat de fitxers OpenOffice

Aquest projecte té per objectiu conèixer i manipular fitxers creats amb el paquet ofimàtic de software lliure OpenOffice. Aquests fitxers es guarden en format anomenat OASIS, format que pren com a base l'estàndard XML i l'adapta a les característiques específiques que s'han dissenyat pels documents OpenOffice.

Serologic evidence of Leishmania infection in free-ranging wild and domestic canids around a Brazilian National Park

Transmission of disease between wildlife, domestic animals, and humans is of great concern to conservation issues and public health. Here we report on the prevalence of anti-Leishmania sp. antibodies in 21 wild canids (7 Chrysocyon brachyurus, 12 Cerdocyon thous, and 2 Lycalopex vetulus) and 74 free domestic dogs (Canis familiaris) sampled around the Serra do Cipó National Park. In dogs, the apparent prevalence was 8.1% and in wild canids it was 19% (2 crab-eating foxes, C. thous, and 2 maned wolves, C. brachyurus). Management of the domestic dog population with evaluation of incidence changes in humans and wildlife, and enlightenment on the role of wild reservoirs are essential issues for future action and research.
