A discussion, through a literature review, on the use of photographic documents and Documentary Analysis (DA) for the preservation, description and retrieval of images of pilgrimages in northeastern Brazil, which are archived at the Laboratory of Information Science and Memory (LACIM). The photograph acts as an expression of faith and devotion; it is a witnesses and documents, through images, the records of the day-to-day folk religion in its multiple meanings and situations, linked to the sacred. The DA —as a set of procedures performed after the reading of documents— facilitates the analysed collection location or query through the documentary language. This paper tries to show that the particular form of the information contained in a photographic archive echoes submerged memories of the pilgrims, authenticating a social fact in the country, capturing the sacredness from specific moments of celebration.

This study aimed to identify the post-graduation programs in Speech Pathology in Brazil, present the production of professors of these programs in the aspects of documentary typologies and present the evolution of this production up to year 2011, delineate the collaborative networks between professors and between institutions, as well as to present the indicators of networks. By accessing the Capes website, eight post-graduation programs were found, revealing a list with a total of 118 professors in Brazil. Data were extracted from the Lattes Platform using the ScriptLattes. The graphs were created in Excel, the networks were traced using the software Ucinet and the density and centrality indicators were calculated. It was observed that most courses are located in the South and Southeast regions of the country and, even though this is a recent field, it presents a significant collaborative network.

The process of inclusion of deaf students at regular and specialized educational institution is a complex issue, which has the main point of discussion its specificity linguistic represented by Brazilian Sign Language. Whereupon, this research analyzed how the discourses of young students with deafness on this type of education at regular and specialized educational institution from a city situated in the State of São Paulo. The aim of this study was analyze the relations between the discourses of deaf students and their production conditionals, using the dimension of Discourse Analysis and the historical-cultural psychology. As parts of this research, were used four deaf students enrolled in schools belong in the city of São Paulo, which two schools are regular and two are specialized to deaf people. The collection instruments build themselves in observation of dialogue situations in classroom and interview semistructured. The interviews were made by video recording, researcher and an interpreter. The results showed that discourse of the student enrolled in the specialized school differs in relation to the ideals of bilingual education, in this case defended by users of the Brazilian Sign Language, fact not observed in the context of the regular school.

This paper aims at contributing with research about Information Science through analysis of Bibliometric indicators applied to Dentistry in Brazil, comparing the impact of such production with the ones from major countries in that field. The analyzed indicators are the following: total number of citations, self-citations, average of citations received a year and index h. Within the procedures, we outlined, in the Scimago Journal Rank (SJR) the group of producing countries in the field of Dentistry from 1996 to 2009. The results show that Brazil is the only country in Latin America which is among those of major impact in Dentistry. We highlight the role of the Bibliometric indicators as methodological contribution to the research while pointing out the main “performers” in the knowledge field.

The present article concerns on the development of Brazil, Argentina and South Korea in a comparative manner during the 1970s and 1980s. We tried to show that the structural crisis of capitalism and the restructuring of the system have closed the possibilities of Brazil and Argentina‘s development while Korea that engaged in an export strategy achieved a qualitative jump on its economy.

This paper aims to examine regional integration processes in South America, particularly in Mercosur. The point of departure is the study of Brazilian foreign policy in the region. Possible consequences of international changes will be discussed, as well as the significance of new social and political forces. Continuity and ruptures in Brazilian behaviour as regards integration will be identified to understand strengths and weaknesses in building an independent position and in search of balance among other international power centres.

This coursework aims the dialogical analysis of discourses that constitute the statements given by Josué Machado, a journalist in the magazine Língua Portuguesa, publishing Segmento. The research aims to observe the ideologies that mark the statements in question, regarding to the values of the standard language and the quality of a text. Methodologically, we seek the understanding of how the discourse of analyzed chronic , publicized during the stated period from number 32 to number 70, dialogues with purist discourse and the discourse of sociolinguistics. The methodological theoretical support covers Bakhtinian studies of the discourse. The results show that the subject who enunciates in the analyzed chronicles shows in his speech a purist voice, in which the discourse of clarity takes emphasis. The values that define his discourse about language are those that prevail in the sphere of journalism
