Embora a fragmentação da paisagem seja apontada como uma das principais alterações antrópicas ao meio ambiente, sabe-se que nem todas as espécies são afetadas da mesma forma por este processo. Resultados obtidos na Reserva Florestal do Morro Grande (RFMG) encontraram ainda relação entre a vulnerabilidade diferenciada à fragmentação e a dinâmica sucessional em roedores. Estudos recentes sugerem que estas respostas diferenciais poderiam estar associadas a perfis metabólico/comportamentais, com consequências para a capacidade de exploração do habitat e utilização de recursos. Neste trabalho investigamos aspectos comportamentais e do metabolismo energético de três espécies de roedores da RFMG, já classificados como sensíveis (Euryoryzomys russatus) e tolerantes à fragmentação (Akodon montensis e Oligoryzomys nigripes), a fim de testar se estes fatores explicariam em parte suas diferentes vulnerabilidades. Analisou-se ainda a relação existente entre o metabolismo energético (expresso pela taxa metabólica basal, TMB) e o comportamento em nível de indivíduos. Por meio de testes comportamentais verificamos que não há diferença significativa entre os níveis exploratórios de espécies tolerantes e sensíveis à fragmentação. Por outro lado, a tendência de diferenciação na TMB entre as espécies foi bastante clara, com Euryoryzomys apresentando o mais alto metabolismo basal. As características de baixo metabolismo basal e plasticidade metabólica encontradas em Akodon e Oligoryzomys podem, de fato, estar contribuindo para o sucesso dessas espécies em áreas fragmentadas e alteradas. Foi encontrada ainda relação negativa entre a TMB e comportamentos custosos para duas das espécies, demonstrando predomínio do Modelo da Partilha, aparentemente adaptativo em ambientes imprevisíveis e com baixa produtividade, já que caracteriza animais com baixa demanda... Legg-Calvé-Perthes disease is a non-inflammatory aseptic necrosis of the head of the femur that is found in both young animals and humans before the gap in the femur head closes. In the fields of both human and veterinary medicine the cause of this condition is not known for certain. Various factors have been put forward in the literature as being responsible for the incidence of this condition such as: abnormalities in coagulation, changes in blood flow in the arteries, a septic obstruction in the draining of the epiphysis or the upper parts of the femur, trauma, growth cycle, hyperactivity in a child, genetic influences and dietary factors. Case histories in dogs show that the first stages of the condition progress slowly but that limping or putting weight on the limb worsens at 6 to 8 weeks. Some owners talk about a sharp onset in clinical lameness. Other clinical symptoms may include irritability, loss of appetite and knawing at the hair surrounding the affected hip. In the course of physical examination manipulating the hip joint will cause pain to the animal. The advanced stages of the disease may result in restricted amplitude of movement, muscular atrophy and fracturing. In humans the clinical signs are similar, although progression of the disease is slower so that it can be diagnosed at an earlier stage. In veterinary medicine the diagnosis is, in the main, based on case history, clinical symptoms, physical examination and certain related procedures such as radiography. The various diagnoses include physical trauma and dislocation of the medial patella. In human medicine many people have been correctly diagnosed. Baseado nas evidencias atuais de crescimento e expansão da atuação profissional do educador físico, em particular a sua atuação como prestador de serviços, ou seja, o personal trainer; que vende seus serviços, ou produtos relacionados à aptidão física e a relação promissora desta atuação, é que nos motivou a desenvolver este trabalho que segue por uma pesquisa bibliográfica de evidencias do histórico e perfil do personal trainer quanto aos conceitos culturais, sociais e psicológicos deste profissional, em seguida levantamos questões relacionadas à formação acadêmica do personal trainer e os pontos diferenciais deste profissional. Tais como a necessidade de conhecimentos que vão alem do âmbito acadêmico, pois se trata de um profissional prestador de serviços o que foge da regularidade da formação convencional. Portanto neste trabalho procuramos evidenciar estas e outras questões (como ética e profissionalismo), que podem levar este profissional a uma carreira de sucesso ou fracasso. Para isso existe uma necessidade fundamental de que se entenda que o personal trainer como prestador de serviços esta surgindo dentro de uma profissão já consolidada (Educador Físico), porem esta assumindo características próprias, como a necessidade de conhecimentos específicos da profissão. Concluímos, portanto que esta promissora atuação do educador físico necessita de atenções especiais e de um processo de formação diferenciado e que não podemos deixar que a nossa profissão se vulgarize e se venda por migalhas, pois esta é a grande chance do profissional se impor e conquistar o desejado respeito diante as profissões da área da saúde

Thin polymeric films deposited by plasma are very atractive for many industrial and scientific applications, in areas such as electronics, mechanics, coatings, biomaterials, among others, due to its favorable properties such as good adhesion to the substrate, high crosslinking, nanomectric thickness, homogeneity, etc. In this work, thin films were deposited by plasma immersion ion implantation and deposition technique from a hexamethyldisilazane/argon mixture at different proportions. These films were subjected to several characterizations, such as, contact angle, which presented values near to 100 degrees, surface energy, with values near to 31 mJ/m2, hardness with values between 0.7 and 2.6 GPa, thickness from 100 to 200 nm, refractive index from 1.56 to 1.64, molecular structure presenting the following functional groups in the infrared spectra region: CHx from 2960 to 2900 cm-1; Si-H around 2130 cm-1; CH3 in Si-(CH3)x around 1410 cm-1; CH3 in Si-(CH3)x in 1260 cm-1; N-H around 1180 cm-1; CH2 in Si-CH2-Si bonds around 1025 cm-1; Si-O in Si-O-Si from 1020 to 1100 cm-1; Si-N in Si-H-Si bonds around 940 cm-1; CH3 in Si-(CH3)3 in 850 cm-1; Si-C bonds in Si-(CH3)2 around 800 cm-1; and Si-H in 680 cm-1 . From these characterizations, it was possible to conclude that the concentration of argon or hexamethyldisilazane in the mixture changed the resulting polymer

The biological principles of osseointegration caused the rehabilitation treatment with osseointegrated implant become a safe, well alternative accepted by the dental community for the high success rate, allowing the preparation of functional and aesthetic prostheses in edentulous and partial patients. We passed the initial phase of functional vision for an aesthetic approach, too, depending on the demands of the patient and the quest for excellence by professionals. Over these last years, implant treatment has undergone many changes in surgical and prosthetic protocols. The less invasive surgical techniques and the development of restorative materials, especially ceramics allow the prosthetic rehabilitation of high functional quality and aesthetics. The installation of implants in sockets immediately after extraction of teeth involved by fracture, periodontal disease, endodontic lesions, is part of the arsenal of techniques for rehabilitating a number of advantages that we get to the outcome of multidisciplinary treatment. For this, we must consider several criteria in its planning as a fundamental unit, adjacent teeth, multiple losses, system, form and number of implants, type of retention of the prosthesis components, the patient expectation of the outcome perspective, gingival biotype, standard of ridge resorption, the smile line, etc. occlusal analysis. With the three-dimensional placement of the implant can immediately join the biological processes of repair of the socket, implant osseointegration, speeding treatment time. Much has been made by companies in the surface treatment of endosseous implants to be osseointegration shortened and restorative procedures started earlier, bringing benefits to the patient and professional. The term model refers to any representation of a real system. The use of models in Hydrogeology can be valuable predictive tools for management of groundwater resources. The numeric models of groundwater flow, object of this study, consist on a set of differential equations that describe the water flow in the porous medium. In this context, numeric simulations were made for a sub-basin located at Cara Preta farm – Santa Rita do Passa Quatro – SP. The aquifer at the local is composed by rocks of Pirambóia Formation, which is part of Guarani Aquifer System. It was developed a conceptual model from previous studies in the area, and from that, simulations were made through the software Visual Modflow®. The conceptual model established previously was considered consistent through the results of simulation.

This work presents a theoretical study of ordinary differential equations of first order directed so as to provide basis for the development of an educational software that helps students and researchers confronted with this issue. The algorithm was developed in HTML language in to that the results provide a website that allows the audience to access the software anywhere which has internet connection

Most well-known and studied names in schoolbooks are men's. It gives one the idea that the world of numbers does not belong to female individuals. In order to verify that this thought is a misconception, a research is carried out about women who, despite all prejudice, have faced many adversities, leaving us many contributions on exact sciences and being relevant until the present date. Nowadays, there is not as much sexual discrimination. Women’s under-representation in exact sciences is due to other motives, such as issues of choice and the option of part-time jobs for professional/familiar balance. Maybe because of this, women have little acknowledgment, as it can be seen in Nobel Prize, where of its 851 awards, only 44 were for women. They are present at different degrees of education, such as licentiate graduation, bachelor’s or master’s, but still outnumbered. The number of female graduates was higher than male’s, according to collected data from Mathematics licentiate graduation Department from 2000 until 2012 in UNESP, Guaratinguetá campus

O presente trabalho consiste no desenvolvimento de uma linha cosmética composta de produtos para higiene capilar, hidratação corporal e facial. O foco do desenvolvimento da linha cosmética foi à valorização da diversidade natural do Brasil, buscando ter diferenciais para que a linha tivesse uma característica que permitisse sua inserção no mercado de cosméticos. O direcionamento da linha cosmética foi para cabelos que passam por processos frequentes de alisamentos químicos, escovas e chapinhas. A linha corporal e facial foi mais direcionada para peles mais seca e ressecada. Além disso, o trabalho visa um maior contato com diversidade de matérias primas, técnicas de manipulação, noções de estabilidade, noções de “marketing” e conhecimento a respeito do mercado de cosmético.

Os estudos hematológicos das diferentes espécies de peixes são de interesse ecológico e fisiológico, auxiliando na compreensão da relação entre as características sanguíneas, a filogenia, a atividade física, o hábitat e a adaptabilidade dos peixes ao ambiente. No experimento realizado foram testados os efeitos de águas contaminadas em parâmetros hematológicos de peixes da espécie Prochilodus lineatus, em períodos de coleta de 7 e 20 dias, nos quais o sangue foi coletado com seringas heparinizadas, foram montadas lâminas de esfregaço , as quais foram coradas pelo corante de Leishman. Estas lâminas foram analisadas e fotografadas com o auxílio de um microscópio óptico Leica, no qual foram feitas contagens totais de células brancas e contagens diferenciais de trombócitos e leucócitos, para a análise estatística. O grupo exposto ao Lago Azul apresentou uma elevação no número de leucócitos e no total de células brancas, evidenciando que os contaminantes químicos do ambiente estavam atuando de forma semelhante a um antígeno no corpo do animal fazendo com que suas células de defesa se proliferassem. Quanto ao grupo exposto ao detergente, observou-se que após os vinte dias de experimento ocorreu uma diminuição no número de trombócitos. Tais resultados evidenciam que a variação no número de leucócitos apresentou-se como um indicador de poluição ambiental e que os detergentes biodegradáveis podem em certo tempo de exposição ocasionar um déficit em funções vitais de peixes como à coagulação e a prevenção contra infecções, eventos ligados diretamente com os trombócitos. A maioria dos vertebrados aquáticos possui brânquias, estruturas especializadas nas trocas gasosas e responsáveis por grande parte das trocas iônicas. Females of the painted turtle, Trachemys scripta, have an annual reproductive cycle. Their nest periods in Brazil starts around September and they lay about 7 - 10 eggs in nests dug in the soil. The eggs hatch in December. It is possible that the nest cover cause problems for the gas diffusion, also, the rain can wet or compact the soil covering the nest, or even soaked the whole area. Those problems may change the nests intern atmosphere decreasing O2 partial pressure (hypoxia) and increasing CO2 partial pressure (hypercarbia). The main objective of this study was to determine if and how hypercarbia (3% and 6%CO2), could influence the eggs and early posthatching development of the Trachemys scripta. We used three experimental groups of eggs incubated in: normal atmosphere (Control group CG, n = 14), hypercarbia with 3% of CO2 (G3%, n = 16) and with 6% of CO2 (G6%, n = 15). The profile of the mass increment during the egg development were not different among the groups, GC = 9.89±0.81g; G3% = 10.11±0.60g and G6% = 10.58±0.36g. In addition, the mass of the post-hatching turtles were the not different. There were not differences between the duration of the incubation period among the experimental groups, GC = 60.12±0.97days, G3% = 59.00±0.98days and G6% = 60.80±1.14days. The mortality rates were not affected by the hypercarbia, GC = 0.43 (43%), G3% = 0.27 (27%) and G6% = 0.37 (37%). Furthermore, the mass increment and the metabolic rate were the same among the early development of the turtles until 3 month after hatching. We conclude that hypercarbia (up to 6% of CO2) does not cause any alteration on the eggs or post-hatching normal development. Hyphema is an intraocular hemorrhage that can result from many ocular and/or systemic disorders. It is an important clinical sign, since it may appear in the initial stages of some diseases or haematological disorders, acting as an initial marker for early diagnosis. The hematologic disturbances that predispose animals to present hyphema are: Thrombocytopenia, von Willebrand Disease, Scott Syndrome, Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation and Hyperviscosity Syndrome due to Multiple Myeloma. Each of the differential diagnoses due to hematological changes from the appearance of hyphema in dogs shows clinical relevance and particular ocular signs

The use of physical characteristics for human identification is known as biometrics. Among the many biometrics traits available, the fingerprint is the most widely used. The fingerprint identification is based on the impression patterns, as the pattern of ridges and minutiae, characteristics of first and second levels respectively. The current identification systems use these two levels of fingerprint features due to the low cost of the sensors. However, the recent advances in sensor technology, became possible to use third level features present within the ridges, such as the perspiration pores. Recent studies show that the use of third-level features can increase security and fraud protection in biometric systems, since they are difficult to reproduce. In addition, recent researches have also focused on multibiometrics recognition due to its many advantages. The goal of this research project was to apply fusion techniques for fingerprint recognition in order to combine minutia, ridges and pore-based methods and, thus, provide more robust biometrics recognition systems, and also to develop an automated fingerprint identification system using these three methods of recognition. We evaluated isotropic-based and adaptive-based automatic pore extraction methods, and the fusion of pore-based method with the identification methods based on minutiae and ridges. The experiments were performed on the public database PolyUHRF and showed a reduction of approximately 16% in the EER compared to the best results obtained by the methods individually

The Canine Visceral Leishmaniasis is a chronic disease of endemic character, caused by Leishmania Chagasi in Americas. The inoculation of the promastigote form in the individual triggers a local and widespread immune reaction with formation of inflammatory infiltrates and deposition of immune complexes in tissues. Initial clinical symptoms of the disease are: weight reduction, hepatomegaly, splenomegaly and, according to the disease chronicity, signs such as alopecia, erythema, onychogryphosis, arthropathies, renal diseases, pyoderma, seborrheic dermatitis, muscle atrophy and Ocular diseases. Ocular diseases are often reported and are result of the direct parasitism or immune-mediated mechanisms caused by the disease. The Leishmania spp have greater affinity for the anterior segment, so that anterior uveitis is one of the most frequently diagnosed injuries. Blepharitis diffuse and Keratoconjunctivitis also appear as important ocular changes. In histological section, inflammatory infiltrates and macrophages with amastigote form are observed in all ocular tissues, with the exception of the retina and optical nerve. In the clinical analysis and disease diagnosis, should be considered the differential diagnosis, such as Ehrlichiosis and systemic hypertension, because these may cause some ocular manifestations similar to those observed in leishmaniasis

The aim of this work is to analyze the stability of the rotational motion’s artificial satellite using the Routh Hurwitz Algorithm (CRH) and the quaternions to describe the satellite’s attitude. This algorithm allows the investigation of the stability of the motion using the coefficients of the characteristic equation associated with the equation of the rotational motion in the linear form. The equations of the rotational motion are given by the four cinematic equations for the quaternion and the three equations of Euler for the spin velocity’s components. In the Euler equations are included the components of the gravity gradient torque (TGG) and the solar radiation torque (TRS). The TGG is generated by the difference of the Earth gravity force direction and intensity actuating on each satellite mass element and it depends on the mass distribution and the form of the satellite. The TRS is created by changing of the linear momentum, which happens due to the interactions of solar photons with the satellite surface. The equilibrium points are gotten by the equation of rotational motion and the CRH is applied in the linear form of these equations. Simulations are developed for small and medium satellites, but the gotten equilibrium points are not stable by CRH. However, when some of the eigenvalues of the characteristic equation are analyzed, it is found some equilibrium points which can be pointed out as stables for an interval of the time, due to small magnitude of the real part of these eigenvalue
