The service quality of any sector has two major aspects namely technical and functional. Technical quality can be attained by maintaining technical specification as decided by the organization. Functional quality refers to the manner which service is delivered to customer which can be assessed by the customer feed backs. A field survey was conducted based on the management tool SERVQUAL, by designing 28 constructs under 7 dimensions of service quality. Stratified sampling techniques were used to get 336 valid responses and the gap scores of expectations and perceptions are analyzed using statistical techniques to identify the weakest dimension. To assess the technical aspects of availability six months live outage data of base transceiver were collected. The statistical and exploratory techniques were used to model the network performance. The failure patterns have been modeled in competing risk models and probability distribution of service outage and restorations were parameterized. Since the availability of network is a function of the reliability and maintainability of the network elements, any service provider who wishes to keep up their service level agreements on availability should be aware of the variability of these elements and its effects on interactions. The availability variations were studied by designing a discrete time event simulation model with probabilistic input parameters. The probabilistic distribution parameters arrived from live data analysis was used to design experiments to define the availability domain of the network under consideration. The availability domain can be used as a reference for planning and implementing maintenance activities. A new metric is proposed which incorporates a consistency index along with key service parameters that can be used to compare the performance of different service providers. The developed tool can be used for reliability analysis of mobile communication systems and assumes greater significance in the wake of mobile portability facility. It is also possible to have a relative measure of the effectiveness of different service providers.

The present research is carried out to understand how psychological empowerment, job satisfaction and job related stress are related.In banking sector, employees are less satisfied and less motivated than employees in other lines of work (Kelley, 1990; Bajpai, Naval and Deepak, 2004). The banking industry also suffers from high employee turnover rate (Branham, 2005; Nelson, 2007) and high level of stress (Chen and Lien, 2008). There are no adequate studies linking psychological empowerment and job satisfaction, stress, turnover etc. among employees of banking sector. Lack of psychological empowerment could be a reason for these problems faced by banking sector. Further majority of studies in psychological empowerment are carried out in manufacturing sector and studies in service sector are concentrated on hotel industry and hospitals. Empowerment takes different forms in different contexts (Zimmerman, 1995). In the light of above discussion, the present research is directed to explore the dimensions of psychological empowerment of employees in banking sector and to find out whether high psychological empowerment can increase job satisfaction and reduce job related stress among employees in banking sector

The tough competition in the global and national markets and new trends in consumerism resulted in an increase in the volume of advertisements. Sometimes advertisers are successful in achieving their intended objectives with a particular advertisement and sometimes they are not .These factors contributed a lot towards the decision making problems of advertising agencies with regard to the selection of appropriate advertising strategies and tactics. The tough competition and large volume of advertising make the consumers confused and this even created doubts in the minds of consumers about the genuineness and reliability of manufacturers and products. These factors caused a query regarding the active role of credibility element in advertising. The proposed study examines the effects of advertising credibility in consumer health care non durable product advertising on communication effect, purchase behavior and ad skepticism. This paper examines the need for the study of advertising credibility and reviews the advertising- consumer behaviour- credibility – healthcare theories which form a basis for the study. It identifies the different components and dimensions of advertising credibility and the importance of communication effect, purchase behavior and ad skepticism. It also studies the relevance of credibility in the consumer healthcare products advertising and suggests a Theoretical Framework for the proposed study

A simple approach for accurate determination of the resonant frequencies of microstrip antennas of regular geometries is developed and presented. In this approach, a generalised empirical formula for the computation of effective dielectric permittivity is given which takes into account the ratio of the fringing area to the area of the patch. A correction to the equivalent side length of an equilateral triangular patch, previously published, is modified and a new formula is given. A correction to the effective dimensions of an elliptical microstrip antenna is also carried out. Numerical results obtained for the resonant frequencies of elliptical, circular, rectangular and equilateral-triangular microstrip antennas are in good agreement with the available theoretical and experimental results reported by others. A nanocomposite is a multiphase solid material where one of the phases has one, two or three dimensions of less than 100 nanometers (nm), or structures having nano-scale repeat distances between the different phases that make up the material. In the broadest sense this definition can include porous media, colloids, gels and copolymers, but is more usually taken to mean the solid combination of a bulk matrix and nano-dimensional phase(s) differing in properties due to dissimilarities in structure and chemistry. The mechanical, electrical, thermal, optical, electrochemical, catalytic properties of the nanocomposite will differ markedly from that of the component materials. Size limits for these effects have been proposed, <5 nm for catalytic activity, <20 nm for making a hard magnetic material soft, <50 nm for refractive index changes, and <100 nm for achieving superparamagnetism, mechanical strengthening or restricting matrix dislocation movement. Conducting polymers have attracted much attention due to high electrical conductivity, ease of preparation, good environmental stability and wide variety of applications in light-emitting, biosensor chemical sensor, separation membrane and electronic devices. The most widely studied conducting polymers are polypyrrole, polyaniline, polythiophene etc. Conducting polymers provide tremendous scope for tuning of their electrical conductivity from semiconducting to metallic region by way of doping and are organic electro chromic materials with chemically active surface. But they are chemically very sensitive and have poor mechanical properties and thus possessing a processibility problem. Nanomaterial shows the presence of more sites for surface reactivity, they possess good mechanical properties and good dispersant too. Thus nanocomposites formed by combining conducting polymers and inorganic oxide nanoparticles possess the good properties of both the constituents and thus enhanced their utility. The properties of such type of nanocomposite are strongly depending on concentration of nanomaterials to be added. Conducting polymer composites is some suitable composition of a conducting polymer with one or more inorganic nanoparticles so that their desirable properties are combined successfully. The composites of core shell metal oxide particles-conducting polymer combine the electrical properties of the polymer shell and the magnetic, optical, electrical or catalytic characteristics of the metal oxide core, which could greatly widen their applicability in the fields of catalysis, electronics and optics. Moreover nanocomposite material composed of conducting polymers & oxides have open more field of application such as drug delivery, conductive paints, rechargeable batteries, toners in photocopying, smart windows, etc.The present work is mainly focussed on the synthesis, characterization and various application studies of conducting polymer modified TiO2 nanocomposites. The conclusions of the present work are outlined below, Mesoporous TiO2 was prepared by the cationic surfactant P123 assisted hydrothermal synthesis route and conducting polymer modified TiO2 nanocomposites were also prepared via the same technique. All the prepared systems show XRD pattern corresponding to anatase phase of TiO2, which means that there is no phase change occurring even after conducting polymer modification. Raman spectroscopy gives supporting evidence for the XRD results. It also confirms the incorporation of the polymer. The mesoporous nature and surface area of the prepared samples were analysed by N2 adsorption desorption studies and the mesoporous ordering can be confirmed by low angle XRD measurementThe morphology of the prepared samples was obtained from both SEM & TEM. The elemental analysis of the samples was performed by EDX analysisThe hybrid composite formation is confirmed by FT-IR spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopyAll the prepared samples have been used for the photocatalytic degradation of dyes, antibiotic, endocrine disruptors and some other organic pollutants. Thermal diffusivity studies of the polyaniline modified systems were carried out using thermal lens technique. It is observed that as the amount of polyaniline in the composite increases the thermal diffusivity also increases. The prepared systems can be used as an excellent coolant in various industrial purposes. Nonlinear optical properties (3rd order nonlinearity) of the polyaniline modified systems were studied using Z scan technique. The prepared materials can be used for optical limiting Applications. Lasing studies of polyaniline modified TiO2 systems were carried out and the studies reveal that TiO2 - Polyaniline composite is a potential dye laser gain medium.

The growth potential of service sector, especially the aviation sector in the Indian economy is splendid. Therefore, it is crucial for the airline service providers to realize their customers, design offers and deliver the desired value to their customers. This study reveals the effect of airline passenger satisfactions particularly on re-buy intentions derived from the attributes-level performance dimensions of both service aspects and loyalty programme of an airline. The mediation effect of satisfaction and other selected antecedents on the re-buy intention of a passenger is hypothesized in this study. Critical areas affecting buying intentions such as core service quality and loyalty attribute-level performances, effect of frequent flyer programme and service quality satisfaction, passenger trust on airline, brand image and moderating effects of perceived value, frequent programme status and travel frequency of airline passengers are linked in a structural model to assess the strength of each facet in affecting re-buy intentions. Implications to the airlines were made based on the finding that re-buy intentions cannot be attributed solely to the impacts of frequent flyer programme, rather affected through the mediation effect of airline service quality satisfaction, which is very much valid for the higher FFP status category of frequent travelers. The effects of moderation caused by perceived value, FFP status and flying experience were also found to be significant in making re-buy intentions.

In der vorliegenden Arbeit wurde untersucht, wie Führung zur Bewältigung von Unternehmenskrisen und Umsetzung von Veränderungen im Kontext des Interim Management beitragen kann. Dazu wurde die Theorie transformationaler Führung um aufgabenbezogene und indirekte Führung und den Einsatz von Positionsmacht ergänzt. Damit wurden diese erfolgskritischen Führungsdimensionen erstmals in einem gemeinsamen theoretischen Rahmen verbunden und die Auswirkungen einer kombinierten Anwendung untersucht. Dieser neue Ansatz wurde als „Total Range of Leadership“ bezeichnet. In der vorliegenden Untersuchung konnten neue Erkenntnisse zum Kontext und den Erfolgsfaktoren des Interim Management sowie zu den Auswirkungen und Wirkungsmechanismen transformationaler Führung und des Total Range of Leadership gewonnen werden. Die Untersuchungsergebnisse deuten darauf hin, dass Interim Management ein hoch effektives Veränderungsinstrument ist. Als erfolgsrelevante Rahmenbedingungen wurden die Ausstattung der Interim Manager mit umfassenden Vollmachten sowie die Unterstützung durch die Auftraggeber, als wichtigster Erfolgsfaktor des Interim Management aber eindeutig die Anwendung transformationaler Führung und des Total Range of Leadership identifiziert. Die Anwendung transformationaler Führung im Rahmen des Total Range of Leadership wirkt sich positiv auf Persönlichkeit, Einstellungen, Kompetenz und Verhalten der Mitarbeiter sowie Organisationsstruktur, Unternehmenskultur, organisationale Lernfähigkeit und finanziellen und marktbezogenen Erfolg von Unternehmens aus. Dabei erzielt transformationale Führung die bei Weitem größte Wirkung aller Führungsdimensionen. Es konnte aufgezeigt werden, dass transformationale Führung diese Wirkung nur in Verbindung mit der kompetenten Anwendung von transaktionaler, aufgabenbezogener und indirekter Führung entfalten kann. Die Untersuchungsergebnisse deuten außerdem darauf hin, dass eine transformationale Führungsbeziehung nur dann entstehen kann, wenn die Mitarbeiter Vertrauen in die professionelle Kompetenz und die Integrität ihrer Führungskraft fassen. Als normative Grundlagen transformationaler Führung wurden die Gewährleistung der Wohlfahrt und des Nutzens der Geführten sowie der Bezug auf und die Berücksichtigung von geteilten und allgemein akzeptierte Werten, insbesondere der distributiven und prozeduralen Gerechtigkeit, identifiziert. Insgesamt deuten die Erkenntnisse der Untersuchung darauf hin, dass mit dem Total Range of Leadership ein ganzheitlicher Führungsansatz entwickelt wurde, der alle aktiven und positiven Führungsverhaltensweisen umfasst, die zur Bewältigung von Krisen und Durchführung von Veränderungen in Unternehmen sowie für effektive Führung überhaupt erforderlich sind.

Optische Spektroskopie ist eine sehr wichtige Messtechnik mit einem hohen Potential für zahlreiche Anwendungen in der Industrie und Wissenschaft. Kostengünstige und miniaturisierte Spektrometer z.B. werden besonders für moderne Sensorsysteme “smart personal environments” benötigt, die vor allem in der Energietechnik, Messtechnik, Sicherheitstechnik (safety and security), IT und Medizintechnik verwendet werden. Unter allen miniaturisierten Spektrometern ist eines der attraktivsten Miniaturisierungsverfahren das Fabry Pérot Filter. Bei diesem Verfahren kann die Kombination von einem Fabry Pérot (FP) Filterarray und einem Detektorarray als Mikrospektrometer funktionieren. Jeder Detektor entspricht einem einzelnen Filter, um ein sehr schmales Band von Wellenlängen, die durch das Filter durchgelassen werden, zu detektieren. Ein Array von FP-Filter wird eingesetzt, bei dem jeder Filter eine unterschiedliche spektrale Filterlinie auswählt. Die spektrale Position jedes Bandes der Wellenlänge wird durch die einzelnen Kavitätshöhe des Filters definiert. Die Arrays wurden mit Filtergrößen, die nur durch die Array-Dimension der einzelnen Detektoren begrenzt werden, entwickelt. Allerdings erfordern die bestehenden Fabry Pérot Filter-Mikrospektrometer komplizierte Fertigungsschritte für die Strukturierung der 3D-Filter-Kavitäten mit unterschiedlichen Höhen, die nicht kosteneffizient für eine industrielle Fertigung sind. Um die Kosten bei Aufrechterhaltung der herausragenden Vorteile der FP-Filter-Struktur zu reduzieren, wird eine neue Methode zur Herstellung der miniaturisierten FP-Filtern mittels NanoImprint Technologie entwickelt und präsentiert. In diesem Fall werden die mehreren Kavitäten-Herstellungsschritte durch einen einzigen Schritt ersetzt, die hohe vertikale Auflösung der 3D NanoImprint Technologie verwendet. Seit dem die NanoImprint Technologie verwendet wird, wird das auf FP Filters basierende miniaturisierte Spectrometer nanospectrometer genannt. Ein statischer Nano-Spektrometer besteht aus einem statischen FP-Filterarray auf einem Detektorarray (siehe Abb. 1). Jeder FP-Filter im Array besteht aus dem unteren Distributed Bragg Reflector (DBR), einer Resonanz-Kavität und einen oberen DBR. Der obere und untere DBR sind identisch und bestehen aus periodisch abwechselnden dünnen dielektrischen Schichten von Materialien mit hohem und niedrigem Brechungsindex. Die optischen Schichten jeder dielektrischen Dünnfilmschicht, die in dem DBR enthalten sind, entsprechen einen Viertel der Design-Wellenlänge. Jeder FP-Filter wird einer definierten Fläche des Detektorarrays zugeordnet. Dieser Bereich kann aus einzelnen Detektorelementen oder deren Gruppen enthalten. Daher werden die Seitenkanal-Geometrien der Kavität aufgebaut, die dem Detektor entsprechen. Die seitlichen und vertikalen Dimensionen der Kavität werden genau durch 3D NanoImprint Technologie aufgebaut. Die Kavitäten haben Unterschiede von wenigem Nanometer in der vertikalen Richtung. Die Präzision der Kavität in der vertikalen Richtung ist ein wichtiger Faktor, der die Genauigkeit der spektralen Position und Durchlässigkeit des Filters Transmissionslinie beeinflusst.

Previous research has considered entrepreneurship as a way out of poverty and as a chance to foster economic growth. Moreover, specifically start-ups headed by women have played an important role in the economic development and it has been argued that gender-related issues, amongst others, play a significant role for the performance of a country or region. Against this background, this qualitative study explores desires, reluctances and constraints toward entrepreneurial activities of a comparably homogenous group of potential (poor) entrepreneurs in an emerging economy—cleaning ladies in Istanbul. We focus on this particular context as still rather little is known on reasons why women do not start a business (in Turkey). We believe exploring the reasons why certain individuals choose not to become entrepreneurs is at least as telling as investigating why they do so. We draw upon the social dimensions of entrepreneurship by Shapero and Sokol (1982) alongside Institutional Theory and posit that normative and cognitive forces may shape individual decisions on entrepreneurship. We identified two basic clusters of women and discuss possible hindrance factors undermining entrepreneurial desires and limitations for entrepreneurship as well as possible avenues for policy makers (and MNCs) to foster entrepreneurship in the given community.

Micromirror arrays are a very strong candidate for future energy saving applications. Within this work, the fabrication process for these micromirror arrays has been optimized and some steps for the large area fabrication of micromirror modules were performed. At first the surface roughness of the insulation layer of silicon dioxide (SiO2) was investigated. This SiO2 thin layer was deposited on three different type of substrates i.e. silicon, glass and Polyethylene Naphthalate (PEN) substrates. The deposition techniques which has been used are Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition (PECVD), Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) and Ion Beam Sputter Deposition (IBSD). The thickness of the SiO2 thin layer was kept constant at 150nm for each deposition process. The surface roughness was measured by Stylus Profilometry and Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM). It was found that the layer which was deposited by IBSD has got the minimum surface roughness value and the layer which was deposited by PECVD process has the highest surface roughness value. During the same investigation, the substrate temperature of PECVD was varied from 80° C to 300° C with the step size of 40° C and it was found that the surface roughness keeps on increasing as the substrate holder temperature increases in the PECVD process. A new insulation layer system was proposed to minimize the dielectric breakdown effect in insulation layer for micromirror arrays. The conventional bilayer system was replaced by five layer system but the total thickness of insulation layer remains the same. It was found that during the actuation of micromirror arrays structure, the dielectric breakdown effect was reduced considerably as compared to the bilayer system. In the second step the fabrication process of the micromirror arrays was successfully adapted and transferred from glass substrates to the flexible PEN substrates by optimizing the conventional process recipe. In the last section, a large module of micromirror arrays was fabricated by electrically interconnecting four 10cm×10cm micromirror modules on a glass pane having dimensions of 21cm×21cm.

El concepto de organización saludable cada vez toma más fuerza en el ámbito empresarial y académico, a razón de su enfoque integral y al impacto generado en distintos grupos de interés. Debido a su reciente consolidación como concepto, existe un limitado cuerpo de investigación en torno al tema. Para contribuir a la generación de conocimiento en este sentido, se desarrolló un estudio exploratorio el cual tenía como objetivo identificar la relación existente entre la implementación de prácticas saludables en las organizaciones y los valores culturales. En el estudio participaron 66 sujetos a quienes se les administró un cuestionario compuesto por nueve variables, cinco provenientes del modelo de Hofstede (1980) y cuatro más que evaluaban la implementación de prácticas organizacionales saludables. Los resultados obtenidos muestran que los valores culturales predicen la implementación de prácticas saludables.

El propósito de este artículo es el femicidio considerado como un delito por razones de género. Ofrece un análisis feminista de las dimensiones conceptuales del tipo penal; incluye los principales argumentos explorados en América Latina, examina diferentes aspectos defendidos por feministas y activistas del movimiento de mujeres, tiene en cuenta algunas reacciones desencadenadas por la tipificación y considera la estructura general del delito tal como ha sido aprobado en seis países: Costa Rica (ley especial, 2007), Guatemala (ley especial, 2008), México (ley general, 2007), El Salvador (ley especial e integral, 2010), Colombia y Chile (reformas del código penal, 2008 y 2010). Este studio es muy importante porque los asuntos penales, además de generar diferentes debates a nivel judicial y legislativo han abierto nuevas vías para continuar la investigación crítica de esta expresión extrema de las violencias de género que atacan los cuerpos de las mujeres y menoscaban el derecho a vivir una vida libre de violencias.

La violencia sexual varía dramáticamente de una guerra a otra, y, en ocasiones, de un grupo armado a otro dentro de una misma guerra. Sin embargo, en algunos conflictos la violencia sexual perpetrada por determinados grupos armados es especialmente limitada, pese aque estos cometen otro tipo de violencia contra civiles. Ciertos grupos cometen actos de violencia sexual solo contra mujeres, mientras que otros también lo hacen contra hombres. Los científicos sociales están documentando y analizando con una frecuencia cada vez mayor esta variación en los patrones de violencia sexual en tiempos de guerra, particularmente en cuanto a las distintas dimensiones de violencia (su forma, frecuencia, blancos ypropósitos), así como en lo referente a los cambios en estos cuatro patrones a través del tiempo. Por tal razón, en este texto, en primer lugar, introduzco conceptos clave, incluyendo estas cuatro dimensiones y el concepto de violencia sexual como práctica (un patrón que no es ordenado pero sí tolerado por los comandantes, y que ocurretanto en casos en los que hay beneficios estratégicos como en los que no los hay). Después, resumo brevemente las investigaciones recientes que documentan patronesde violencia sexual en tiempos de guerra. Tras mostrar que muchos abordajes presentes en la literatura publicada no dan cuenta de la variación observada –dehecho, muchos predicen más violencia sexual que los trágicos niveles observados–,propongo un marco teórico centrado en las dinámicas internas de los grupos armados. Luego, analizo las condiciones en las cuales los grupos armados no llevan a cabo violaciones, aquellas en las que realizan violaciones estratégicas y aquellas en las que las violaciones se cometen como práctica. A lo largo del artículo, me valgo de hallazgos recientes en la literatura de las ciencias sociales, algunos de ellos todavía no publicados. Concluyo con la implicación de este análisis para la formulación de políticas públicas: la variación observada en la violencia sexual en tiempos de guerra, particularmente la ausencia relativa de este tipo de violencia por parte de muchos grupos armados, indica que la violación no es inevitable en la guerra.

The present study contributes to the literature on the Job Demands-resources model in the italian school context. the aim of this paper is to examine how the interaction between work-family conflict (i.e., a typical job demand) and opportunities to learn and to develop and self-efficacy (i.e., typical job and personal resources, respectively) affect the core dimensions of burnout (exhaustion and depersonalization) and work engagement (vigor and dedication). Hypotheses were tested with a cross-sectional design among 143 teachers of a junior high school in the north of Italy. Results of moderated multiple regression analysis partially supported the hypotheses as the opportunities to learn and to develop buffered against the aversive effects of work-family conflict on depersonalization, whereas self-efficacy moderated the relationship between work-family conflict and vigor. From a practical viewpoint, our findings suggest that opportunities to learn and to develop and self-efficacy are important re- sources that help teachers to reduce the negative effects related to work-family conflict.
