This paper proposes a new reading of how the defeat of France and its occupation by Nazi forces were analyzed by the collaborators of the Revista do Brasil (RJ, 1938-1943). This cultural and literary magazine was one of the most important in Brazil and brought together a significant part of the Brazilian intelligentsia of the time.

Les premières pièces de Victor Hugo ont été les responsables d'une véritable révolution dans l'histoire de las Litterature Française, mais elles n'ont pas eu une acceptation immédiate de la part de la critique, qui s'est partagée entre les partidaires des romantiques et, par conséquent, de nouvelles idées diffusées par le Cénacle et les classiques, les adversaires des jeunes écrivains qui ont embrassé les concepts hugoliens, Au Brésil, la réacrion a été postérieure, mais identique. Qualqu'on ne trouve pas dans les journaux des discussions à propos de la nouvelle école, des nouvelles idées ont été, au début, rejetées par les intellectuels brésiliens et, quelque temps plus tard, adoptées par les écrivains désirant créer un théâtre national basé sur les prinipes défendus par Victor Hugo, le porte-parole du mouvement romantique.

Strategic planning for dairy cattle: SWOT analysis applied to a property of a farmers' association in Dracena, São Paulo state, Brazil

The sector of milk production in Brazil is very heterogeneous (high-tech in large scale X family properties). This study aimed to develop a diagnostic as a basis for a strategic plan to face the challenges inherent in operating a dairy farm in property of a farmers' association in Dracena, São Paulo, Brazil. It was observed that the association needs a more efficient guidance in the marketing, production and finance areas, not to compromise the search for new markets and continued growth in activity.

Medidas de controle da circulação do livro didático para o ensino de leitura e escrita em São Paulo: atuação da commissão revisora de 1918

In order to contribute to the understanding of the history of the teaching of reading and writing and the history of political movement of textbooks in Sao Paulo, Brazil, we present the results of the analysis of the documents produced by the Review Commission Textbook, established in 1918 by the General Board of Education of São Paulo State. This commission aimed to review which books among the already approved by previous committees, should continue as recommended for use in elementary schools in São Paulo. For this, the commission has prepared various reports, which are representative of the actions of the state government to control the circulation and use of textbooks in elementary schools in the early twentieth century.

Background: The possibility to acquire sexually transmitted diseases generates bio-psycho-social conflicts affecting daily life of women. Objective: To investigate the knowledge of women on the concept of being infected by the human papilloma virus (HPV) and to understand the significance they attributed to their condition as HPV carriers. Material and method: It is a qualitative study in which ten women were interviewed, after the result of a cytopathological exam suggesting HPV. Data were collected at the Center of Health School of the Universidade Estadual Paulista -UNESP-Brazil. Results: The significant items were: deception and preoccupation about the cure, since they indicate that it is very deceptive to be infected with an incurable disease by a person whom they trust; the method of having sexual relations and being infected again; the necessity of care and of being optimistic to face the disease and the threat of cervix cancer originating anxiety. Discussion: Orientations made by health professionals were efficacious to clarify the relationship with cancer development. It is possible to understand the necessity of assistance orientations and the opportunity to hear them, offering individualized quality care. This study also offers important elements to reinforce the educational role of health professionals, principally those referring to sexually transmitted infection and cancer, seeking prevention and early treatment with the offered information. However, there is no desire of finishing the subject regarding perception, thus there is much to discover about diseases related to human papilloma virus. Pertubation du développement d'une incisive permanente incluse due à un traumatisme de la dent primire

Les anomalies du développement des dents permanentes peuvent être dues à un traumatisme des dents primaires, étant donné la proximité de la racine des dents primaires avec les dents permanentes sous-jacentes. Nous décrivons le cas d'un garçon de 14 mois qui a été dirigé vers la clinique pédiatrique de l'École de médecine dentaire de l'Universidad Estadual Paulista d'Araçatuba, au Brésil, après avoir subi un grave traumatisme qui a causé l'intrusion de l'incisive centrale droite primaire. L'examen radiographique réalisé 4 ans après le traumatisme a révélé un changement morphologique évolutif dans le germe de la dent permanente. Au moment de son éruption, l'incisive centrale permanente présentait une malformation coronaire avec hypoplasie de l'émail. Nous avons conclu qu'un suivi radiographique est indiqué après un traumatisme afin de surveiller les séquelles qui peuvent survenir dans les dents permanentes, même avant leur éruption.

A time-and-motion study in wood processing of the Eucalyptus harvester's operational cycle was developed. The objective was to evaluate wood harvesters working under several site conditions. The research includes two kinds of harvesters while processing wood to supply paper and cellulose factories, as follows: a machine with twin tires and other one with large tracks, both connected to a different head harvester models. The forestry species were Eucalyptus saligna Smith and Eucalyptus grandis Hill ex Maiden, seven and eight years old, in slope terrains ranging from 0% to 10% degrees, under harvesting systems used by Votorantim and Suzano forestry companies, in São Paulo State, Brazi. Considering all field research, results disclosed that, for some conditions, both machines have shown mathematical correlation between some mechanical wood operation within the processing operational cycle and the saw logs production. All the mathematical correlations were found to express logarithmical models.

Paricipation in Bauru marter plans, Brazil: analysis of the historical evolution of the consultation process

In Brazil, a policy on citizen participation and consultation in urban intervention programs, in particular in the development of master plans, was first introduced into the Federal Constitution in 1988. This article presents an historical reconstitution of Master Plans in Bauru – State of São Paulo – Brazil. The 1968, 1988 and 2005/2006 consultation methods are analyzed using established criteria. The degree of community participation in the processes is estimated by drawing on a typology based on the level of involvement by residents. The effects of participation caused by changes in political regime, technical planning vision, legal support to consultation, recognition of community importance and knowledge acquired during the process are highlighted and discussed.
