Este artigo apresenta uma discusso sobre a organizao da fora de trabalho indgena livre na Amaznia colnia do sculo XVII a meados do sculo XVIII. O texto argumenta que, para alm do rgido controle exercido pelas ordens religiosas sobre a populao indgena livre estabelecida nas aldeias, no s a coroa vislumbrou alternativas quanto ao uso de trabalhadores indgenas, mas tambm os moradores se aproveitaram dessas alternativas para ter acesso aos trabalhadores indgenas, principalmente em momentos crticos de carncia de mo-de-obra. Por outro lado, trata-se de compreender como a ao dos prprios grupos indgenas influenciou a poltica e legislao indigenistas implementadas pela Coroa para a regio.

O presente artigo trata da caracterizao da composio mineralgica de azulejos antigos pertencentes aos sculos XVI, XVII e XIX, coletados em Salvador e Belm, visando identificao da sua provvel matria-prima e a possvel temperatura de queima. Quartzo foi identificado em todas as amostras. As demais fases cristalinas encontradas foram: mullita, cristobalita, calcita, anortita, hematita, gehlenita, diopsdio e wollastonita. Foi possvel dividir as amostras em trs grupos, em funo da possvel matria-prima e temperatura de queima: grupo 1 - caulinita e quartzo, T entre 1200 e 1728 C; grupo 2 - quartzo, caulinita, calcita e/ou dolomita e xido ou hidrxido de ferro, T entre 900 e 1200C; grupo 3 - quartzo, argilominerais (provavelmente caulinita), calcita e/ou dolomita e hidrxido ou xido de ferro, T entre 1200 e 1565 C.

This report of the BOOST2012 workshop presents the results of four working groups that studied key aspects of jet substructure. We discuss the potential of first-principle QCD calculations to yield a precise description of the substructure of jets and study the accuracy of state-of-the-art Monte Carlo tools. Limitations of the experiments' ability to resolve substructure are evaluated, with a focus on the impact of additional (pile-up) proton proton collisions on jet substructure performance in future LHC operating scenarios. A final section summarizes the lessons learnt from jet substructure analyses in searches for new physics in the production of boosted top quarks.

In this article, we analyze the works of Pero de Magalhes Gndavo in what we name colonial writings. They are texts written between the late 16 th century and the early 17th century. Gndavos intention, as with the other colonial writers, is to defend the interests of the settlers. With that, we counter historiography in general and Brazilian historiography in particular, which sees them as authors identified with metropolitan interests.

Since the beginning of time man has used body ornaments, often-simple element of decoration, passing by the object ritualistic and religious icon, also as a symbol to the demonstration of status and power. Many of these objects have survived to today, but the vast majority is lost in time or was dismantled to reuse the material in new jewelry. The history of jewelry uses the pieces that have survived intact, documents and images of those jewels. This work uses of Visual Arts, more specifically the portrait art of, to analyze the mystical amulets of child`s protection jewel in works of painters Juan Pantoja dela Cruz and Diego Velsquez.

Most studies on measures of transpiration of plants, especially woody fruit, relies on methods of heat supply in the trunk. This study aimed to calibrate the Thermal Dissipation Probe Method (TDP) to estimate the transpiration, study the effects of natural thermal gradients and determine the relation between outside diameter and area of xylem in 'Valencia' orange young plants. TDP were installed in 40 orange plants of 15 months old, planted in boxes of 500 L, in a greenhouse. It was tested the correction of the natural thermal differences (DTN) for the estimation based on two unheated probes. The area of the conductive section was related to the outside diameter of the stem by means of polynomial regression. The equation for estimation of sap flow was calibrated having as standard lysimeter measures of a representative plant. The angular coefficient of the equation for estimating sap flow was adjusted by minimizing the absolute deviation between the sap flow and daily transpiration measured by lysimeter. Based on these results, it was concluded that the method of TDP, adjusting the original calibration and correction of the DTN, was effective in transpiration assessment.
