Letter - E.C. Schmon to Arthur A. Schmon, 25 October

Eleanore Celeste mentions she has not received a letter from Arthur in over three weeks. She discusses her history studies, visits with friends and letters she has received from Arthur's brother Gus. In the second part of the letter, she has received a letter from Arthur. She then begins to tell a scenario of a day in the life of couple once they are living together. The letter is labelled number 13.

In the early nineteenth century, a widespread outbreak of cholera occurred in continental Europe, eventually spreading to the British Isles. The disease subsequently spread to Canada as impoverished British immigrants seeking a better life arrived in the country. To help curb the spread of the disease, local Boards of Health were created.

Letter - Cal Cavendish to Sean O'Sullivan, 25 May 1975

A letter from Cal Cavendish of Cavenidish Country in Calgary, Alberta. Cavendish has written a song about former prime minister R. Honourable John Diefenbaker. He has included the lyrics to his song. A few of the lyrics: "...Well it took a little while, but he reached his destiny, He was right, he was wrong, but he ran this big country. He didn't waste much time when he had a job to do, He worked the House of Commons like a prairie thrashing crew. Good old John, we heard you John, when a man got paid for the job when the job got done."

Coarse grained sample with multiple fine grained domains. Clasts range from small to medium and sub-angular to sub-rounded. Mainly contains grain crushing (with grains crushed into one another) and short distance lineations. A few rotation structures are seen and fine grained sand domains can also be seen.

Dark brown sediment with sub-angular to sub-rounded grains, that range from small to medium in size. Lineations with fractured grains are abundant, and grain crushing can also be seen. Minor rotation can also be seen.

HG 261.25-261.35 Thin Section

Brown sediment with small clasts, and an occasional medium sized clast. Clasts appear to be sub-rounded in shape. The sample contains many lineations, the majority oriented in the same direction. There are also darker areas present in the sample, they may contain organics.

Brown sediment with well dispersed clasts. Clasts range from small to medium in size and sub-angular to sub-rounded in shape. Alternating domains can be seen (light and dark). Darker domains appear organic rich. Lineations can also be seen throughout the sample.

Fine grained sample with some small clasts. The small clasts are sub-angular to sub-rounded in shape. Organic materials can be seen throughout the sample (darker areas). Lineations are also present throughout the sample.

Brown sediment with a coarse grained domain and a fine grained domain. The coarse grained domain contains clasts that are small to medium in size. The clast shape ranges from sub-angular to sub-rounded. The coarse grained domain is abundant in lineations. The fine grained domain contains many faint water escape structures. A few rotation structures can also be seen throughout the sample.

Dark brown sediment, with clasts ranging from small to large. The sample mainly contained smaller clasts. The clast shape ranges from sub-angular to sub-rounded. Lineations were common throughout the sample. It also contained areas with dark organic material, and a few faint water escape structures.

Brown sediment with clasts ranging from small to large in size. Clast shape ranges from sub-angular to rounded. Rotation structures were abundant throughout the sample, along with necking structures. Lineations and edge-to-edge grain crushing were also present in minor amounts.
