Comparative analysis of vitamin A and iron content in food according to different food composition tables and nutritional evaluation software programs

The objective of this study was to analyze retinol equivalent and iron content in different food composition tables and nutritional evaluation software programs. A literature search was conduct to identify tables and software available in Brazil containing information about retinol equivalent and iron content that are currently used by nutritionists. Ten tables and five software programs were selected for this study. The methodology used to present the retinol equivalent and iron content was evaluated and no pattern to obtain such content was found in the tables and software programs analyzed. Only one of the tables had enough information for the calculation of retinol equivalents; this table is recommended to all Latin America As for the iron content, three of the tables analyzed stand out and therefore should be used; two of them are based on national foods and the other is recommended for use in all Latin America countries. None of the software programs evaluated use the conversion factors suggested by IVACG to assess the vitamin A content in foods. Special attention should be given to the content of iron provided in the software programs since they use tables as international sources and fortified foods.

Tämä diplomityö arvioi hitsauksen laadunhallintaohjelmistomarkkinoiden kilpailijoita. Kilpailukenttä on uusi ja ei ole tarkkaa tietoa siitä minkälaisia kilpailijoita on markkinoilla. Hitsauksen laadunhallintaohjelmisto auttaa yrityksiä takaamaan korkean laadun. Ohjelmisto takaa korkean laadun varmistamalla, että hitsaaja on pätevä, hän noudattaa hitsausohjeita ja annettuja parametreja. Sen lisäksi ohjelmisto kerää kaiken tiedon hitsausprosessista ja luo siitä vaadittavat dokumentit. Diplomityön teoriaosuus muodostuu kirjallisuuskatsauksesta ratkaisuliike-toimintaan, kilpailija-analyysin ja kilpailuvoimien teoriaan sekä hitsauksen laadunhallintaan. Työn empiriaosuus on laadullinen tutkimus, jossa tutkitaan kilpailevia hitsauksen laadunhallintaohjelmistoja ja haastatellaan ohjelmistojen käyttäjiä. Diplomityön tuloksena saadaan uusi kilpailija-analyysimalli hitsauksen laadunhallintaohjelmistoille. Mallin avulla voidaan arvostella ohjelmistot niiden tarjoamien primääri- ja sekundääriominaisuuksien perusteella. Toiseksi tässä diplomityössä analysoidaan nykyinen kilpailijatilanne hyödyntämällä juuri kehitettyä kilpailija-analyysimallia.

Software for Transport Accessibility Analysis: The Case of Moscow

In this thesis the process of building a software for transport accessibility analysis is described. The goal was to create a software which is easy to distribute and simple to use for the user without particular background in the field of the geographical data analysis. It was shown that existing tools do not suit for this particular task due to complex interface or significant rendering time. The goal was accomplished by applying modern approaches in the process of building web applications such as maps based on vector tiles, FLUX architecture design pattern and module bundling. It was discovered that vector tiles have considerable advantages over image-based tiles such as faster rendering and real-time styling.

Teachers as researchers and teachers as software developers: how use-case analysis helps build better educational software

A series of government initiatives has raised both the profile of ICT in the curriculum and the expectation that high quality teaching and learning resources will be accessible across electronic networks. In order for e-learning resources such as websites to have the maximum educational impact, teachers need to be involved in their design and development. Use-case analysis provides a means of defining user requirements and other constraints in such a way that software developers can produce e-learning resources which reflect teachers' professional knowledge and support their classroom practice. It has some features in common with the participatory action research used to develop other aspects of classroom practice. Two case-studies are presented: one involves the development of an on-line resource centred on transcripts of original historical documents; the other describes how 'Learning how to Learn', a major, distributed research project funded under the ESRC Teaching and Learning Research Programme is using use-case analysis to develop web resources and services.

Advanced functionality for radio analysis in the Offline software framework of the Pierre Auger Observatory

The advent of the Auger Engineering Radio Array (AERA) necessitates the development of a powerful framework for the analysis of radio measurements of cosmic ray air showers. As AERA performs ""radio-hybrid"" measurements of air shower radio emission in coincidence with the surface particle detectors and fluorescence telescopes of the Pierre Auger Observatory, the radio analysis functionality had to be incorporated in the existing hybrid analysis solutions for fluorescence and surface detector data. This goal has been achieved in a natural way by extending the existing Auger Offline software framework with radio functionality. In this article, we lay out the design, highlights and features of the radio extension implemented in the Auger Offline framework. Its functionality has achieved a high degree of sophistication and offers advanced features such as vectorial reconstruction of the electric field, advanced signal processing algorithms, a transparent and efficient handling of FFTs, a very detailed simulation of detector effects, and the read-in of multiple data formats including data from various radio simulation codes. Integration av webbaserat analysprogram och kartprogram : Integration of web based analysis-software andmap-software

I takt med att GIS (Grafiska InformationsSystem) blir allt vanligare och mer användarvänligt har WM-data sett att kunder skulle ha intresse i att kunna koppla information från sin verksamhet till en kartbild. Detta för att lättare kunna ta till sig informationen om hur den geografiskt finns utspridd över ett område för att t.ex. ordna effektivare tranporter. WM-data, som det här arbetet är utfört åt, avser att ta fram en prototyp som sedan kan visas upp för att påvisa för kunder och andra intressenter att detta är möjligt att genomföra genom att skapa en integration mellan redan befintliga system. I det här arbetet har prototypen tagits fram med skogsindustrin och dess lager som inriktning. Befintliga program som integrationen ska skapas mellan är båda webbaserade och körs i en webbläsare. Analysprogrammet som ska användas heter Insikt och är utvecklat av företaget Trimma, kartprogrammet heter GIMS som är WM-datas egna program. Det ska vara möjligt att i Insikt analysera data och skapa en rapport. Den ska sedan skickas till GIMS där informationen skrivs ut på kartan på den plats som respektive information hör till. Det ska även gå att välja ut ett eller flera områden i kartan och skicka till Insikt för att analysera information från enbart de utvalda områdena. En prototyp med önskad funktionalitet har under arbetets gång tagits fram, men för att ha en säljbar produkt är en del arbeta kvar. Prototypen har visats för ett antal intresserade som tyckte det var intressant och tror att det är något som skulle kunna användas flitigt inom många områden.

A PC compatible Brazilian software for obtaining thermal histories using apatite fission track analysis

In this work a software developed in the Instituto de Fisica Gleb Wataghin, IFGW, UNICAMP, Campinas, SP, Brazil for obtaining thermal histories using apatite fission track analysis is presented. This software works in Microsoft-Windows environment. It will be freely disposable in the web site of the Departamento de Raios Cosmicos, IFGW, UNICAMP. Thermal histories obtained through this software are compared with those deduced using Monte Trax the software compatible with Apple Macintosh developed by Gallagher. (C) 2001 Elsevier B.V. Ltd. Power Electronics course: Analysis and evaluation of the educational software and the environment learning

This paper presents the analysis and evaluation of the Power Electronics course at So Paulo State University-UNESP-Campus of Ilha Solteira(SP)-Brazil, which includes the usage of interactive Java simulations tools and an educational software to aid the teaching of power electronic converters. This platform serves as an oriented course for the lectures and supplementary support for laboratory experiments in the power electronics courses. The simulation tools provide an interactive and dynamic way to visualize the power electronics converters behavior together with the educational software, which contemplates the theory and a list of subjects for circuit simulations. In order to verify the performance and the effectiveness of the proposed interactive educational platform, it is presented a statistical analysis considering the last three years. © 2011 IEEE.
