Nitrosyl ruthenium complexes with general formula [RuCl3,(NO)(P-P)] (P-P={PPh(2)(CH2)(n)PPh(2)},n=1-3 and {PPh(2)-CH=CH-PPh(2)}). X-ray structure of [RuCl3(NO){PPh(2)(CH2)(3)PPh(2)}]

Ruthenium(II) complexes with general formula [RuCl3(NO)(P-P)] were obtained in the solid state, where P-P = PPh(2)(CH2)(n)PPh(2) (n = 1-3) and PPh(2)-CH = CH-PPh(2). The P-31 NMR spectra of these compounds measured in CH2Cl2 showed only singlets, consistent with a fac configuration containing two equivalent phosphorus atoms, However the X-ray diffraction data show that the [RuCl3(NO){PPh(2)(CH2)(3)PPh(2)}] complex crystallizes in a met configuration, where one of the phosphorus atoms is trans to the NO group, in a slightly distorted octahedral geometry. 1,5-Diphenyl-4,8-bis(3-phenylpyrazol-1-yl)pyrazabole

The six-membered B(2)H(4) ring of the title compound, C(36)H(30)B(2)N(8), adopts a slightly distorted boat conformation, with the terminal B substituents in a trans orientation. One 3-phenylpyrazolyl group is in an equatorial position, whereas the second is in an axial position with respect to the plane defined by the B atoms.

Constraints on spin-3/2 and excited spin-1/2 fermions coming from the leptonic Z0-partial width

We consider effective interactions among excited spin-1/2 and spin-3/2 leptons with the usual ones. Assuming that these new leptons are lighter than the Z0, we study the constraints on their masses and compositeness scale coming from the leptonic Z0 partial width.

Search for W H associated production in 5.3 fb(-1) of p(p)over-bar collisions at the Fermilab Tevatron

We present a search for associated production of Higgs and W bosons in pp̄ collisions at a center of mass energy of s=1.96 TeV in 5.3 fb-1 of integrated luminosity recorded by the D0 experiment. Multivariate analysis techniques are applied to events containing one lepton, an imbalance in transverse energy, and one or two b-tagged jets to discriminate a potential WH signal from Standard Model backgrounds. We observe good agreement between data and expected backgrounds, and set an upper limit of 4.5 (at 95% confidence level and for mH=115 GeV) on the ratio of the WH cross section multiplied by the branching fraction of H→bb̄ to its Standard Model prediction, which is consistent with an expected limit of 4.8. © 2011 Elsevier B.V.

Synthesis of 1,2,3-triazolylpyranosides through click chemistry reaction

We have developed an efficient method for the synthesis of functionalized C-glycosyl 1,2,3-triazoles through a Cu(1)-promoted azide-alkyne 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition between a TMS-protected C-alkynyl-glycoside and organic azides. The reaction was accelerated by ultrasound irradiation and the addition of a base was not necessary to obtain the 1,2,3-triazole product. Moreover, further manipulation of the products led to chiral molecules with a C-glycoside linkage. (C) 2012 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Magnetic moments of the low-lying J(P)=1/2(-), 3/2(-) Lambda resonances within the framework of the chiral quark model

The magnetic moments of the low-lying spin-parity J(P) = 1/2(-), 3/2(-) Lambda resonances, like, for example, Lambda(1405) 1/2(-), Lambda(1520) 3/2(-), as well as their transition magnetic moments, are calculated using the chiral quark model. The results found are compared with those obtained from the nonrelativistic quark model and those of unitary chiral theories, where some of these states are generated through the dynamics of two hadron coupled channels and their unitarization.

Determination of degree of ionization of poly(allylamine hydrochloride) (PAH) and poly[1-[4-(3-carboxy‑4 hydroxyphenylazo)benzene sulfonamido]-1,2-ethanediyl, sodium salt] (PAZO) in layer-by-layer films using vacuum photoabsorption spectroscopy

Electrostatic and hydrophobic interactions govern most of the properties of supramolecular systems, which is the reason determining the degree of ionization of macromolecules has become crucial for many applications. In this paper, we show that highresolution ultraviolet spectroscopy (VUV) can be used to determine the degree of ionization and its effect on the electronic excitation energies of layer-by-layer (LbL) films of poly(allylamine hydrochloride) (PAH) and poly[1-[4-(3-carboxy-4 hydroxyphenylazo)- benzene sulfonamido]-1,2-ethanediyl, sodium salt] (PAZO). A full assignment of the VUV peaks of these polyelectrolytes in solution and in cast or LbL films could be made, with their pH dependence allowing us to determine the p'K IND. a' using the Henderson-Hasselbach equation. The p'K IND. a' for PAZO increased from ca. 6 in solution to ca. 7.3 in LbL films owing to the charge transfer from PAH. Significantly, even using solutions at a fixed pH for PAH, the amount adsorbed on the LbL films still varied with the pH of the PAZO solutions due to these molecular-level interactions. Therefore, the procedure based on a comparison of VUV spectra from solutions and films obtained under distinct conditions is useful to determine the degree of dissociation of macromolecules, in addition to permitting interrogation of interface effects in multilayer films.

Expeditious synthesis of 5,6,7 ,8-tetrahydro-imidazo[1,2-a ] pyrimidin-2-ones and 3,4,6,7 ,8,9-hexahydro-pyrimido[,2-a ] pyrimidin-2-ones

A convenient synthesis of new 5,6,7 ,8-tetrahydro-imidazo[ 1,2-a]pyrimidin-2-ones and 3,4,6,7 ,8,9-hexahydro-pyrimido[1 ,2a]pyrimidin-2- ones from the Baylis-Hillman adducts of acrylonitrile and their derivatives is described. A common strategy employed to achieve the syntheses of title compounds involved generation of diamines from different Baylis-Hillman derivatives followed by treatment with cyanogen bromide at reflux temperature to trigger a double intramolecular cyclization.
