Based on the reflections of Habermas and his conception of modernity, understood as an unfinished project, Giddens stresses that in all societies the maintenance of personal identity and its connection to broader social identities is a primordial requirement for ontological security. To achieve ontological security, modernity had to (re) invent traditions and get away from genuine traditions, that is, those values radically linked to the pre-modern past. This is a character of the discontinuity of modernity, the separation between what is presented as the new and that which persists as the legacy of the old. This article discusses the relationship between tradition and modernity and the dialogue between Giddens and Habermas. The goal is to identify the points of contact and the differences in the theses defended by both authors, in order to assess their contributions to discussions of the rationalization of contemporary societies. Late or reflexive modernity is an uninterrupted process of changes that affect the foundations of Western society. Faced with a reality of constant change, it is necessary to choose between the certainty of the past and a new reality of continuous change. In this sense, and according to the Habermasian perspective, the reflexive character of modernity is found in this process of choosing between the certainties inherited from the past and new social forms, a process that that leads to the reflection on - or even the recasting of - social practices, causing the rationalization and (re) invention of various aspects of life in society.

Scorpions are among the oldest living groups of animals, and are present in almost every continent. Although many studies are made about the toxins present in their venom, little is known about their behavior. The aim of this paper is to investigate the expression of agressiveness in the brazilian yellow scorpion Tityus serrulatus, specifically the relation between agressiveness, motor activity and feeding condition. The study was divided in two parts. First, we used 16 adult individuals, placed in two terrarium, to establish an ethogram. Each group was observed for 36h, and the behaviors displayed were described and categorized as agonistic or non-agonistic. In the second part of the experiment, we used 32 adult animals in three different nutritional states: Feeding (still ingesting food), Sated (1 to 4 days since last meal) and Deprived (14 to 25 days since last meal). The individuals were paired, each pair placed in a terrarium and observed for 30min. Behaviors displayed were timed in seconds. Our results show that only Feeding individuals displayed agonism towards others, and no relation was observed between motor activity and feeding conditions

The present article aims to elaborate an objective analytical panel, initially from the 1920- 1930 when Luiz Ignácio Romeiro de Anhaia Mello, cathedratic in the urban question, started to quote a series of authors and American plans as references to their reflections, mainly when the point was the verticalization or not at São Paulo City. The true taxonomic status of the chactid scorpion Chactas camposi Mello-Leitao, 1939 from Ecuador is established based in the recently discovered holotype female, until now considered lost, at the Museu Nacional do Rio de Janeiro. In base on the analysis of the external morphology, we transfer this species to the genus Teuthraustes Simon, 1878. A detailed redescription and diagnosis according to modern standards are provided. Teuthraustes camposi comb. n. is closely related with Teuthraustes whymperi (Pocock, 1893) from Ecuadorian provinces Pichincha and Cotopaxi.
