In 2007, an alliance was formed between the Illinois Suicide Prevention Strategic Planning Committee and the Illinois Suicide Prevention Coalition, unifying the strengths of the groups to continue to advance the plan. The joint mission of this alliance is "to reduce suicide and its stigma throughout Illinois by collaboratively working with concerned stakeholders from the public and private sectors to increase awareness and education, provide opportunities to develop individual and organizational capacity in addressing suicide prevention, and advocate for access to treatment."

El presente trabajo es un estudio comparativo sobre perpetradores del Holocausto. Luego de una breve introducción sobre el fenómeno nazi en su contexto, se analizan los casos de tres de sus protagonistas: Rudolf Hss, Jrgen Stroop y Franz Stangl; comandante del campo de exterminio Auschwitz, responsable de la liquidación del gueto de Varsovia y comandante del campo de exterminio de Treblinka respectivamente. El caso de Hss es estudiado a partir de su autobiografía, mientras que los dos restantes a partir de las entrevistas e investigaciones de Kazimierz Moczarski y Gitta Sereny. Hss, Stangl y Stroop fueron condenados por las muertes de 1.100.000, entre 750.00 y 900.00 y 350.000 personas respectivamente. En este sentido una premisa de este trabajo es que ninguno de ellos puede ser considerado hombre corriente o persona común; por el contrario siguiendo a Raul Hilberg se los piensa como sujetos totalmente identificados e impregnados de la cosmovisión y la ideología del nacionalsocialismo y las SS que desde un marco de referencia previo agresivo y violento eventualmente fueron transformándose en asesinos en masa. Como sostiene Gustavo Cosacov estos sujetos serían dueños de una "santidad maligna o invertida" que había reemplazado sus valores éticos y morales cristiano-occidentales; permitiéndoles cometer crímenes en forma sistemática. A pesar de que la cuestión de los victimarios ha sido menos abordada que la de las victimas, en el campo historiográfico existen sólidos aportes. Basta nombrar a Christopher Browning, Peter Longerich o Raul Hilberg para explicitar la corriente de investigación a la que este texto reconoce y aspira. En este sentido el objetivo de las siguientes páginas primero es describir y explicar algunos de los mecanismos históricos, psicológicos y sociológicos que producen a perpetradores de asesinatos en serie de personas tan distantes como desconocidas; como así descifrar a también su marco de referencia. Para ello se hará un repaso crítico por las fuentes históricas a la luz de múltiples disciplinas sociales, analizando sus discursos, sus argumentos, tratando de delinear las voluntades y motivaciones de Hss, Stangl y Stroop. Un concepto clave de esta investigación es "burocracia" en el sentido de Max Weber. En un segundo lugar se reflexionará sobre la violencia nazi, en el sentido de una violencia autotélica contradictoria con respecto al paradigma social liberal y al estado de derecho. En ambos casos se priorizará recrear e interpretar el punto de vista de los perpetradores. Buscando amplitud historiográfica, se utilizarán obras clásicas como también publicaciones recientes sobre el tema. No se busca obtener conclusiones ni respuestas absolutas sino reflexionar, repensar y complejizar a los protagonistas de, acaso, el hecho más oscuro de la historia humana

Az elemzés egy, a Budapesti Corvinus Egyetem (BCE) Logisztika és Ellátási Lánc Menedzsment Tanszéke által végzett kérdőíves felmérés eredményeit foglalja össze. A kutatás alapvető célja, hogy felmérje és bemutassa a hazai vállalatok logisztikai, ezen belül is elsősorban disztribúciós logisztikai folyamatainak informatikai oldalról történő jelenlegi támogatottsági szintjét és a következő két-három év e téren várható fejlesztési irányait. A kutatás szisztematikusan kitért a logisztikai információs rendszer valamennyi alrendszerére, vizsgálta a különböző azonosítási megoldások elterjedtségét, a vállalatirányítási rendszer, illetve egyes moduljainak használatával kapcsolatban kialakult gyakorlatot, de a logisztika stratégiai döntéseinek informatikai támogatottságát és a használt kommunikációs technikákat is. Összességében megállapíthatjuk, hogy a logisztikai információs rendszerek fejlettségi szintje ma Magyarországon közepesnek mondható, fontos megjegyezni azonban, hogy a KKV szektor e téren is jelentős lemaradással rendelkezik. Ez természetesen azt is jelent, hogy az informatikai eszközök alkalmazásának kiterjesztésével még jelentős teljesítményjavulás érhető el. = The essay summarizes the results of a survey carried out by Corvinus University of Budapest, Department of Logistics and Supply Chain Management. Aim of the survey was to analyze and describe the actual Hungarian company practice regarding the IT support of logistics – and particularly distribution – processes, and the plans of developing it within the next 2-3 years. Survey has systematically covered all fields of logistics information system, analyzed the prevalence of different identification techniques and systems. On the whole we appoint that logistics information systems applied by Hungarian companies are on satisfactory level; however it is important to tell that SME companies are in huge lag. This means that improving logistics information system hides the possibility of considerable performance development.

In this dissertation, I first suggest an extension of the managerial rents model and more specifically the managerial skills typology that it offers. Building on research in international business, I propose adding country-specific skills (CSS) to this typology in addition to firm-specific, industry-specific, and generic skills. I define CSS as managers' abilities that are applicable and specific to a particular national institutional context. Such skills are distinct from the other three types identified and are likely to influence managers' performance and the performance of their firms. So if CSS are distinct skills, what are the implications for strategy and international business research? In an attempt to respond to this question, I conduct two empirical essays in which I examine the implications of this refinement of the typology of managerial skills for CEO selection and firms' mergers and acquisitions (M&A;) strategy. In the first empirical essay, I puzzle at the fact that although CSS constitute a barrier to high-level executive mobility across countries, there have been a growing number of foreign-born CEOs being appointed across the globe. Why are these individuals being selected for the post of CEO? Using information on the appointment of foreign-born and national CEOs from 2005 to 2010 among global 500 companies, I show that internationalization pressures help explain their selection and that two types of firms are likely to appoint foreign leaders: highly internationalized firms and firms that are likely to internationalize. In the second empirical essay, I examine the strategic implications of country-specific skills. Employing the same sample as the one used in the first empirical essay, I demonstrate that given that their mindset is likely to be less focused on firms' home market, foreign-born CEOs may be prone to institute more changes in firms' cross-border M&A; strategy than their domestic counterparts. I also theorize on the moderating influence of CEOs' insiderness.

This work appears as a reflection on the oral modality of the language in the teaching of Portuguese Language from textbooks proposed for the elementary school. It has as main aim to analyze the textbooks for the Youth and Adult Education - EJA (6th and 7th grade), the collection "It is time to learn", specifically in regard to educational activities focusing on oral proposals in their constituent units. It is a process of reflection with a view to submitting suggestions arising from the discussions held, given the fact that the writing mode has been identified by some scholars, between these Marcuschi (2005), as the most privileged in the classroom and in most manuals that guide the teaching of Portuguese Language. In this work, we start from a broader vision from the principles of dialogic pedagogy by Paulo Freire perspectives towards pedagogical practices that favor the development of linguistic and discursive student skills. In this sense, we emphasize the formation of a critical subject, who can argue and defend points of view, using oral or written language, in various social situations. In this view, this paper set up aims to identify, describe and interpret the activities proposed to the oral modality of Portuguese Language, from interactional theoretical bases, based on authors as Marcuschi (2005, 2010), Fávero, Andrade and Aquino (1999) Schneuwly and Dolz (2004), Antunes (2009), among others. In addition, the objective was to suggest other educational activities, as a way of expanding the existing ones, in order that addressed more efficiently, to aspects of orality been proposed and aspects of formal oral genres. Methodologically, it is a qualitative research, in which, from the teaching materials used in the classroom, there was a reflection on the orality and the oral teaching of the Portuguese language and has been proposed an expansion of activities one oral mode. In this reflection, analysis of the results revealed that the books investigated, used in Portuguese classes in EJA, include in their proposals orality as an object and teaching axis. However, we appoint the need to expand the teaching proposals with the existing activities in order to give greater emphasis to important aspects of orality already prioritized, and also to address to the formal public genres. In seeking to make suggestions and educational proposals that integrate with existing, we postulated the most effective development for oral skills for the EJA student, in Freire's perspective, as also we thought in a way to provide subsidies which could guide teachers of the Portuguese Language area at the fundamental level of education.

In Western industrialized countries, it is well established that legally competent individuals may choose a surrogate healthcare decision-maker to represent their interests should they lose the capacity to do so themselves. There are few limitations on who they may select to fulfill this function. However, many jurisdictions place restrictions on or prohibit the patient's attending physician or other provider involved with an individual's care to serve in this role. Several authors have previously suggested that respect for the autonomy of patients requires that there be few (if any) constraints on whomever they may appoint as a proxy. In this essay we revisit this topic by first providing a survey of current state laws governing this activity. We then analyze the clinical and ethical circumstances in which potential difficulties could arise. We take a more nuanced and circumspect view of prior suggestions that patients should have virtually unfettered liberty to choose their healthcare proxies. We suggest a strategy to balance the freedom of patients' right to choose their surrogates with fiduciary duty of the state as regulator of medical practice. We identify six domains of possible concern with such relationships and suggest straightforward methods of mitigating their potential negative effects that could be plausibly be incorporated into physician practice.

Entre los documentos del archivo de la Real Sociedad Econó-mica de Amigos del País de Valencia (RSEAPV)1, se encuentra un con-junto muy interesante concerniente a la realización de una medalla por parte de esta sociedad en honor de Manuel Godoy, Príncipe de la Paz. Es en enero de 1807 cuando la RSEAPV decide nombrarlo miembro protector de esa Real Sociedad y, en agradecimiento a su aceptación y su reciente nombramiento al Grande Almirantazgo de España e Yndias, acuña la medalla sobre la cual presento este trabajo. El estudio detallado de los citados documentos nos permitirá ir más allá de las imágenes re-presentadas en el reverso de la misma, proporcionándonos su correcta interpretación dentro del contexto histórico del momento.

Les gouvernements des pays industrialisés occidentaux ont constaté, au cours des années 70, un accroissement des abandons scolaires et une augmentation du taux de chômage chez les jeunes. La solution généralement appliquée fut alors une injection massive de fonds pour des programmes de préparation à l'emploi pour les jeunes sans emploi et les jeunes adultes devenus chômeurs. C'est ce que nous révèlent les rapports présentés lors de la conférence internationale sur "Le passage des jeunes de l'enseignement obligatoire à la vie active" tenue à Salzbourg (Autriche) en avril 1983 par l'Organisation de coopération et de développement économique (OCDE, 1983a). Les mesures adoptées ont pris l'aspect de formations d'appoint, de programmes de création d'emploi, de recherche d'emploi, d'expérience de travail ou de formation en emploi. Dans son enquête sur "Les études et le travail vus par les jeunes", le Centre pour la recherche et l'innovation dans l'enseignement (OCDE, 1983b) déplore cependant le fait que les pouvoirs publics aient accordé l'essentiel de leur attention à une minorité de jeunes soulevant des problèmes d'ordre social et politique les plus visibles et les plus urgents, au détriment d'une majorité de jeunes éprouvant des difficultés moins apparentes mais aussi importantes. Depuis longtemps, les femmes du monde entier en général et rwandaises en particulier sont restées et restent encore, sauf quelques rares exceptions, en marge des activités de développement économique ou s'y sont intéressées tardivement. Dépourvues de propriété et de biens, les femmes n'ont que le droit de l'usufruit sur le patrimoine familial dont seuls les garçons sont héritiers. Retenues par les travaux domestiques et agricoles non rémunérateurs, les femmes ne disposent pas d'argent, à part de petites sommes qui leur sont remises par leur mari, destinées à défrayer les dépenses courantes (achat de sel, pétrole, savon etc.). Depuis un certain temps, la terre arable se fait plus rare et de plus en plus improductive. Les femmes deviennent chefs de famille suite au veuvage, à l'abandon du toit conjugal par les hommes, à la tolérance des enfants illégitimes. Pour ces raisons certaines femmes abandonnent les activités agricoles ou les associent au petit commerce, à l'artisanat et aux divers métiers non structurés apportant un revenu monétaire immédiat pour faire vivre leurs familles. Cependant l'accès aux ressources de production n'est pas facile. Malgré la possession d'une capacité de travail admirable, les femmes se heurtent à l'acquisition des ressources naturelles et du capital de risque qui constitue une base importante pour la réussite de ce genre d'activité d'appoint. La majorité des femmes n'ayant pas de revenu salarial ou autres revenus permanents, l'accès au crédit se présente comme un tabou. Cela est dû à plusieurs facteurs dont les plus fréquents se résument par le manque de garantie, l'absence ou l'insuffisance d'information et de formation en matière de crédit, la sous-estimation par les banquiers des femmes dans les affaires, etc. Pour faire face à cette situation, les organisations non gouvernementales (ONG) extérieures ayant des projets de développement dans le pays octroyaient de temps en temps des crédits aux femmes ou les avalisaient auprès des banques. Mais une fois que le projet en question arrive à terme, cette activité d'appui aux femmes s'arrête sans laisser aucune structure de continuité. Le Centre de formation et de recherche coopératives et le ministère de la Jeunesse et du Mouvement associatif prennent la relève en avalisant les coopératives et les groupements (y compris ceux des femmes) auprès des banques populaires. Toutefois leur soutien reste encore insignifiant face au problème. C'est dans cette optique qu'en mai 1987, pour tenter de briser ce mythe à l'égard des femmes en matière d'accès au crédit, l'association «Duterimbere» («Allons de l'avant») fut créée par un groupe de femmes intellectuelles, en tant qu'organisation locale sans but lucratif. Celle-ci vient se joindre à d'autres intervenants qui déploient des efforts pour relever le défi d'inaccessibilité des femmes au crédit. Préoccupée par ce problème, nous partirons de l'analyse des services de l'association Duterimbere à l'égard des femmes pour pouvoir apprécier en quoi Duterimbere se distingue d'autres ONG ou structures d'appui aux femmes. Le projet de création d'un service d'épargne et de crédit que nous nous proposons d'intégrer parmi les services de Duterimbere serait, à notre avis, d'un apport non négligeable et viendrait parachever le soutien de Duterimbere aux femmes, au moins en ce qui concerne les petits crédits.

O objetivo deste artigo é oferecer uma definição do relativamente recente género literário que é exemplificado pela escrita de autoras como Margarida Rebelo Pinto, Fátima Lopes e Rita Ferro. Trata-se de literatura cujo possível ''par'' anglo-saxónico encontramos na ‘chick lit’ – uma ficção escrita geralmente por mulheres e para mulheres, que se foca na sua vida quotidiana. Pretende-se chegar a esta definição, por um lado, via análise do discurso mediático e académico à volta das obras mais populares e através de inquéritos com leitores e leitoras, por outro lado. Assim, pomos em relevo o jogo que se desenvolve entre a crítica literária, que ocorre publicamente (revistas, programas televisivos, blogues), e a leitura, que se exerce num âmbito privado e individual. Consideramos também como a crítica determina a leitura e em que medida a leitura e interpretação são atos isolados e pessoais. A pesquisa da qual resulta este artigo levou-nos às considerações literárias de índole mais geral, como, por exemplo, quem tem o poder de dizer o que é a literatura? A quem cabe o privilégio de designar o valor duma obra literária?

Atualmente, existe interesse em determinar o benefício ou contributo do estudo de um determinado tópico para a prática em enfermagem e melhoria do serviço ao utente, o que é percetível na necessidade detetada nessa prática de disponibilizar o medicamento no local adequado, na quantidade exigida e no tempo e gasto mínimos. Neste sentido, verifica-se que o Hospital do Espirito Santo Évora (HESE) adquiriu o sistema Pyxis em 2007 e, até à data, não foi implementado sem se perceber as razões para tal, quer sejam de natureza técnica quer de gestão, o que desperta o interesse no tratamento deste assunto e a relevância do tema. Assim, levanta-se a questão sobre as condições de implementação do Pyxis, o que se traduz num problema, para o qual se procura uma solução com uma metodologia adequada. O presente trabalho tem como objetivo preparar as condições para a implementação do Pyxis. Assim, pretende-se analisar a situação presente e identificar as necessidades de alteração e de ajustamento suportadas nas exigências e requisitos do sistema Pyxis, no que se refere à sua implementação. Em termos metodológicos, para prosseguir o objetivo antes referido, recorre-se ao diagnóstico interno, à descrição do Pyxis, para identificação das condições da sua implementação, à análise funcional e à elaboração do instrumento de inquérito através de questionário, para posterior aplicação. Os resultados obtidos permitem uma verificação dos requisitos e alterações, para a implementação do sistema Pyxis, bem como os benefícios associados a este sistema. Existe a evidência de que o sistema Pyxis é uma nova tecnologia que possibilita ao HESE a diminuição do tempo utilizado pela equipa de saúde no processo logístico de distribuição do medicamento e a melhoraria da qualidade através da diminuição de erro de medicação, sendo fundamental na qualidade dos cuidados de saúde a prestar aos utentes, o que é concordante com o enquadramento teórico efetuado
