Fenómenos sublunares en Plinio y Séneca : identificación y traducción

Resumen: La identificación de los fenómenos considerados sublunares en la Antigüedad a partir de la terminología latina es particularmente dificultosa. Nuestra propuesta es considerar los términos que aparecen en las enumeraciones de Plinio y Séneca tomando como parámetro de referencia la nomenclatura astronómica moderna y como hipótesis la de que las observaciones antiguas, por personas de gran capacidad de observación en un cielo sin contaminación lumínica pueden compararse a las que podemos obtener hoy a través de la astrofotografía. La conclusión es que, dado que en la Antigüedad grecolatina cada fenómeno se reportaba con la misma fórmula descriptiva, es posible determinar la equivalencia entre los términos romanos y los actuales (cometas, meteoros, etc.), como paso previo a adoptar una decisión traductiva, ya sea que los consideremos términos científicos o culturalmente específicos.

Lucio Anneo Séneca : primer escritor español de alcance universal.

Se presenta un estudio sobre la figura de Séneca como uno de los hombres que ha dejado huella en la historia del pensamiento moral y como orientador de conductas, cuyo nombre figura al lado de Sócrates, Platón y Cicerón. El estudio se desarrolla según cuatro puntos: la romanización de España en la época de Séneca, su obra literaria, su influencia y el españolismo de Séneca.

Lección sobre Lucio Anneo Séneca para conmemorar el XIX centenario de su muerte (para alumnos de 10-12 años).

Se desarrolla una lección de historia para alumnos de diez a doce años, a partir de una introducción sobre las relaciones de España con el Imperio Romano y de la exposición de la biografía del pensador Séneca.

Effect of bone morphogenetic protein-4 (BMP-4) on the expression of Sox2, Oct-4 and c-Myc in human periodontal ligament cells during long-term culture

Recent studies demonstrated endogenous expression level of Sox2, Oct-4 and c-Myc is correlated with the pluripotency and successful induction of induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs). Periondontal ligament cells (PDLCs)have multi-lineage diferentiation capability and ability to maintain undifferentiated stage, which makes PDLCs a suitable cell source for tissue repair and regeneration. To elucidate the effect of in vitro culture condition on the stemness potential of PDLCs, we explored the cell growth, proliferation, cell cycle, and the expression of Sox2, Oct-4 and c-Myc in PDLCs from passage 1 to 7 with or without the addition of recombinant human BMP4(rhBMP4). Our results revealed that BMP-4 promoted cell growth and proliferation, arrested PDLCs in S phase of cell cycle and upregulated PI value. It was revealed that without the addition of rhBMP4, the expression of Sox2, Oct-4 and c-Myc in PDLCs only maintained nucleus location until passage 3, then lost nucleus location subsequently. The mRNA expression in PDLCs further confirmed that the level of Sox2 and Oct-4 peaked at passage 3, then decreased afterwards, whereas c-Myc maintained consistently upregulation along passages. after the treatment with rhBMP4, the expression of Sox2, Oct-4 and c-Myc in PDLCs maintained nucleus location even at passage 7 and the mRNA expression of Sox2 and Oct-4 significantly upregulated at passage 5 and 7. These results demonstrated that addition of rhBMP-4 in the culture media could improve the current culture condition for PDLCs to maintain in an undifferentiated stage.

The first x-ray diffraction peak of water as a function of temperature in the range 4 – 63 °C

X-ray diffraction structure functions for water flowing in a 1.5 mm diameter siphon in the temperature range 4 – 63 °C were obtained using a 20 keV beam at the Australian Synchrotron. These functions were compared with structure functions obtained at the Advanced Light Source for a 0.5 mm thick sample of water in the temperature range 1 – 77 °C irradiated with an 11 keV beam. The two sets of structure functions are similar, but there are subtle differences in the shape and relative position of the two functions suggesting a possible differences between the structure of bulk and siphon water. In addition, the first structural peak (Q0) for water in a siphon, showed evidence of a step-wise increase in Q0 with increasing temperature rather than a smoothly varying increase. More experiments are required to investigate this apparent difference.

New low band gap 2-(4-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl)-1H-benzod]imidazole and benzo1,2-c; 4,5-c `]bis1,2,5]thiadiazole based conjugated polymers for organic photovoltaics

Two new low band gap D-A structured conjugated polymers, PBDTTBI and PBDTBBT, based on 2-(4-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl)-1H-benzod]imidazole and benzo1,2-c; 4,5-c']bis1,2,5]thiadiazole acceptor units with benzo1,2-b; 3,4-b']dithiophene as a donor unit have been designed and synthesized via a Stille coupling reaction. The incorporation of the benzo1,2-c; 4,5-c']bis1,2,5]thiadiazole unit into PBDTBBT has significantly altered the optical and electrochemical properties of the polymer. The optical band gap estimated from the onset absorption edge is similar to 1.88 eV and similar to 1.1 eV, respectively for PBDTTBI and PBDTBBT. It is observed that PBDTBBT exhibited a deeper HOMO energy level (similar to 4.06 eV) with strong intramolecular charge transfer interactions. Bulk heterojunction solar cells fabricated with a configuration of ITO/PEDOT: PSS/PBDTBBT: PC71BM/Al exhibited a best power conversion efficiency of 0.67%, with a short circuit current density of 4.9 mA cm(-2), an open-circuit voltage of 0.54 V and a fill factor of 25%.

首次报道了中国4种蝙蝠的G-带和C-带核型。大长舌果蝠(Eonycteris spelaea)二倍染色体数目(2n)为36,常染色体臂数(FN)为56;马来假吸血蝠(Megaderma spasma)2n=38,FN=70;黑髯墓蝠(Taphozous melanopogon)2n=42,FN=64;皱唇蝠(Chaerephon plicata)2n=48,FN=54。通过C-带显示,除着丝粒异染色质外,在皱唇蝠的许多染色体臂内和马来假吸血蝠染色体的端粒处也有较多的插入异染色质,大长舌果蝠的基因组中既有臂内异染色质也有端粒异染色质。
