Propriedades de adesão e invasão de cepas de Escherichia coli isoladas de pacientes com doença inflamatória intestinal

A Doença Inflamatória Intestinal (DII) engloba um grupo de processos inflamatórios crônicos de causas não conhecidas. Duas formas clínicas da DII são reconhecidas atualmente: a Retocolite Ulcerativa (RU) e a Doença de Crohn (DC). Foram isoladas de 348 amostras, dos quais 17 foram diagnosticados com com DC, e 40 com RU. Os 41 restantes apresentavam outras patologias e compreenderam o grupo controle. Entre as amostras que apresentaram adesão positiva, 110 delas apresentaram padrão de Adesão Agregativa (AA) e 19 apresentaram padrão de Adesão Difusa (AD). A cepa, DII/013, apresentou o padrão de adesão agregativo e invisibilidade média 18 vezes superior à cepa da EIEC. Quando observada ao microscópio eletrônico, bactérias intracelulares foram detectadas na amostra. Assim, a maioria das amostras apresentaram padrão de adesão agregativo, indicando juntamente com estudos anteriores, que esse padrão teria uma possível relação com a patogenicidade da bactéria em relação a DII

Interventions in nature made by man are very common since the beginnings of human history, especially in the case regarding the storage of water. The construction of dams have been and still are fundamental in maintaining human life due to the vital importance that water plays. The size of these structures vary according to need, such as water catchment, fish-farming or electricity generation. Embankment dams are the most common type of these structures. Can be defined as dams natural material obtained from loan chambers located near the dam site. This type of barrier may be divided into earth dams and rockfill dams. The study area covers an earth dam located in Cordeirópolis (SP) and is essentially composed of diabases altered soil of the Serra Geral Formation of the Paraná Basin. With the aid of geophysics, more specifically of the Electrical Resistivity method, the aim is to check any water infiltration zones in the dam's body. Given the risks associated with water seepage in earth dams, that may generate breakdown structures, erosion, and consequently accidents and / or harmful factors in the nearby areas. One of the main structural problems married by water infiltration is the possible generation of pipes that could jeopardize the dam structure. This work aims to contribute towards the evaluation of the effectiveness of using an indirect technique of research and monitoring in aid to direct research techniques such as piezometers and drive stakes. The results are presented in the form of 2D and 3D geophysical models, the analysis shows a low resistivity zone with typical values of the presence of humidity originating upstream of the dam and downstream bottleneck trend, that are the basis for interpretation by percolation or not water in the dam

Potencial de Invasão de eucalipto pelas sementes produzidas nos plantios comerciais

Over the past few years, the area of planted forests has expanded considerably in Brazil, reaching a level of 6.3 million hectares, which represents approximately 0.7% of the country, mainly with some species of the Eucalyptus genus. However, due to the global concern with biological invasions by exotic species, risk assessment is necessary to evaluate the potential of Eucalyptus species escaping cultivated stands and invading surrounding native ecosystems. Seedlings by natural regeneration from Eucalyptus grandis and E. urophylla, pure and hybrids between the two species were evaluated, by assessing natural regeneration of Eucalyptus in 18 sites located in Brazilian states with plantation forest tradition (Minas Gerais, São Paulo, Rio Grande do Sul and Espírito Santo). Sample plots were installed in the planted stands, along forest roads and in a nearby pasture or native vegetation.,at different distances from the Eucalyptus stands. Regeneration of Eucalyptus was not recorded in 90% of the plots installed outside the eucalipt stands. However, seedlings of eucalypts were observed in 29% of the plots within the commercial stands (mean density of 37 seedlings per hectare) and 40% of the plots located along forest roads (157 seedlings per hectare on average), but no adult plants by natural regeneration were found. The seedlings of eucalypt species studied rarely were found beyond the limits of the cultivated areas. In the planted stands or along forest roads, eucalypts can germinate, but the seedlings apparently do not establish. So the potential for invasion by seeds produced in commercial plantations of Eucalyptus is low.

A introdução de espécies exóticas traz severas consequências para o ambiente, sendo a perda de diversidade a mais notável. Espécies exóticas podem competir por recursos com as espécies nativas, podendo assim causar a extinção de muitas espécies. A demografia e o padrão espacial de populações naturais também podem ser afetados pela presença de uma espécie invasora, o que pode levar a significativos efeitos para todo o ecossistema. Este trabalho teve por objetivo investigar o impacto causado na demografia e no padrão de distribuição espacial da palmeira Euterpe edulis pelo pisoteio e herbivoria do javaporco, resultado do cruzamento do Sus scrofa com o Sus scrofa domesticus. Esta palmeira tem especial importância para o ecossistema por ser considerada uma espécie-chave no ambiente, fornecendo alimento para muitas espécies. Foi feita uma parcela de 25 x 50m e contabilizados todos os indivíduos da palmeira presentes. Para avaliar a estrutura demográfica as plantas foram categorizadas em seis estádios de acordo com a altura: plântula, jovem I, jovem II, imaturo I, imaturo II e adulto. Para a distribuição espacial as plantas foram divididas em quatro estádios de acordo com o potencial impacto do javaporco e importância para o recrutamento: plântula, jovem, imaturo e adulto. Os dados foram coletados antes (2008) e depois (2014) da invasão do javaporco em um fragmento de mata estacional semidecídua no interior do Estado de São Paulo. A invasão do javaporco não afetou drasticamente a estrutura demográfica como um todo, mas houve uma redução considerável na proporção de plantas jovens I. Para avaliar os impactos na distribuição espacial usamos uma análise espacial de padrões de pontos univariada (entre plantas dentro de cada estádio) e bivariada (entre plantas de dois estádios). Elementos estruturais de um modelo formal dos esportes coletivos de invasão

O desenvolvimento de um modelo formal da estratégia e da dinâmica do jogo constitui uma contribuição científica original no contexto dos esportes coletivos de invasão. O procedimento construtivo de uma estratégia definido no modelo é composto de cinco conjuntos de elementos ordenados em níveis hierárquicos, que suportam o desenho de estratégias capazes de orientar adequadamente uma equipe em um jogo. Uma vez definido o modelo da estratégia, a formalização da dinâmica do jogo permite sua contextualização no momento de sua aplicação para orientar os jogadores no confronto. O jogo teve sua estrutura decomposta e suas propriedades dinâmicas fundamentais foram definidas. Dessa forma, a modelagem da dinâmica da oposição e da estratégia se complementam, pois definem os momentos nos quais a informação estratégica é utilizada pelos jogadores. A estrutura formal apresentada inaugura uma linha de pesquisa que poderá contribuir para limitar a subjetividade na definição dos critérios de análise de futuros desenhos experimentais, levando à interpretações e comparações mais acuradas dos resultados dos estudos.

Dall'involucro all'invaso. Lo spazio a pianta centrale nell'opera architettonica di Adalberto Libera
