Introducción: Las nanoemulsiones son excelentes sistemas de transporte y entrega de fármacos. La ftalocianina de aluminio clorada (PcAlCl) en terapia fotodinámica constituye una alternativa de tratamiento en leishmaniasis cutánea. Objetivo: Determinar la difusión y retención en piel humana de la PcAlCl contenida en una nanoemulsión (nano-PcAlCl) para su optimización en formulaciones tópicas. Materiales y métodos: Se prepararon y caracterizaron fisico-químicamente dos formulaciones (nano-PcAlCl y solución-PcAlCl) y sus vehículos sin-PcAlCl. La permeación se determinó en ensayos en celdas de difusión de Franz y la retención por el método de la cinta adhesiva. La concentración de PcAlCl fue determinada fluorométricamente (nM/cm2). Biopsias de piel fueron analizadas histotécnicamente. Resultados: El tamaño promedio, el potencial Z y el índice de polidispersión de la nano-PcAlCl en agua fue de 132,9 nm, -19,23 y 0,14 y diluida en PBS fue 125,33 nm, -13,69 y 0,139. Las concentraciones de PcAlCl se mantuvieron estables. La PcAlCl no atravesó la piel y fue retenida en sus capas, en estrato córneo y epidermis+dermis con valores de 44,17 nM y 8,48 nM postratamiento con nano-PcAlCl, y 96,90 nM y 9,80 nM postratamiento con solución-PcAlCl. Esta última promovió mayor retención en estrato córneoy ambas formulaciones promovieron similar retención en epidermis+dermis. Se observódesprendimiento del estrato córneo y fragmentación del colágeno. Conclusión: La PcAlCl noatravesó la piel, se retuvo en estrato córneo y epidermis+dermis. Se sugiere realizar ensayos depermeación utilizando piel humana desprovista de estrato córneo y ensayos de distribución enanimales con leishmaniasis cutánea.

The synthesis and crystal structures of three nonheme di-iron(III) complexes with a tridentate N,N,O Schiff-base ligand, 2-({[2-(dimethylamino) ethyl] imino} methyl) phenol (HL), are reported. Complexes [Fe2OL2(NCO)(2)] (1a) and [Fe2OL2(SAL)(2)]center dot H2O [SAL = o-(CHO)C6H4O-] (1b) are unsupported mu-oxido-bridged dimers, and [Fe-2(OH)L-2(HCOO)(2)-(Cl)] (2) is a mu-hydroxido-bridged dimer supported by a formato bridging ligand. All complexes have been characterized by X-ray crystallography and spectroscopic analysis. Complex 1b has been reported previously; however, it has been reinvestigated to confirm the presence of a crucial water molecule in the solid state. Structural analyses show that in 1a the iron atoms are pentacoordinate with a bent Fe-O-Fe angle [142.7(2)degrees], whereas in 2 the metal centers are hexacoordinate with a normal Fe-OH-Fe bridging angle [137.9(2)degrees]. The Fe-O-Fe angles in complexes 1a and 1b differ significantly to those usually shown by (mu-oxido) Fe-III complexes. A theoretical study has been performed in order to rationalize this deviation. Moreover, the influence of the water molecule observed in the solid-state structure of 1b on the Fe-O-Fe angle is also analyzed theoretically.

Durante este trabalho foi construido um sistema experimental de fusão zonal horizontal com a finalidade de purificar metais com ponto de fusão entre 400° e 1200°C. A fonte de aquecimento escolhida foi o aquecimento indutivo, e o metal o alumínio. Uma barra de alumínio foi colocada dentro de um cadinho de grafite alojada dentro de um tubo de quartzo. Para deslocar a zona de fusão o cadinho foi puxado por meio de fios, polias e pesos acoplados a um motor-redutor. As experiências de purificação foram feitas com atmosfera de argônio. Foram produzidas oito barras usando diferentes números de passadas da zona de fusão e velocidade de deslocamento. Os resultados obtidos pelos métdos de análise empregados mostraram-se satisfatoriamente concordantes com a teoria e com os resultados registrados na literatura.

The resistance of aluminum and their alloys, to the corrosion phenomenon, in aqueous solutions, is a result of the oxide layer formed. However, the corrosion process in the aluminum alloy is associated with the presence a second phase of particles or the presence of chloride ions which promote the disruption of the oxide layer located producing the corrosion process. On the other hand, the term water produced is used to describe the water after the separation of the oil and gas in API separators. The volumes of produced water arrive around 5 more times to the volume of oil produced. The greatest feature of the water is the presence of numerous pollutants. Due to the increased volume of waste around the world in the current decade, the outcome and the effect of the discharge of produced water on the environment has recently become an important issue of environmental concern where numerous treatments are aimed at reducing these contaminants before disposal. Then, this study aims to investigate the electrochemical corrosion behavior of aluminum alloy 6060 in presence of water produced and the influence of organic components as well as chloride ions, by using the electrochemical techniques of linear polarization. The modification of the passive layer and the likely breakpoints were observed by atomic force microscopy (AFM). In the pit formation potential around -0.4 to -0.8 V/EAg/AgCl was observed that the diffusion of chloride ions occurs via the layer formed with the probable formation of pits. Whereas, at temperatures above 65 °C, it was observed that the range of potential for thepit formation was -0.4 to -0.5 V/EAg/AgCl. In all reactions, the concentration of Al(OH)3 in the form of a gel was observed

Background and Objectives - Gynecological laparoscopy causes high postoperative morbidity, mainly due to occurrences such as nausea and vomiting. They result from a great multiplicity of etiologies and drugs used in anesthesia may function as contributing factors. Both the emetic properties of nitrous oxide and the efficacy of metoclopramide as antiemetic agent are controversial. This study was undertaken to determine the effects of both drugs, when used alone or in combination. Methods - Eighty three physical status ASA I and II women were studied. They were premedicated with midazolam before induction of anesthesia with alfentanil and propofol. Anesthesia was maintained with isoflurane with or without nitrous oxide in oxygen. Muscle relaxation was achieved with atracurium. There were 4 groups of patients: GI: midazolam, alfentanil, propofol, atracurium, isoflurane/oxygen; GII: midazolam, alfentanil, propofol, atracurium, isoflurane/nitrous oxide/oxygen; GIII: metoclopramide, midazolam, alfentanil, propofol, atracurium, isoflurane/oxygen; GIV: metoclopramide, midazolam, alfentanil, propofol, atracurium, isoflurane/nitrous oxide/oxygen. The incidence of nausea and vomiting was assessed both in the recovery room (RR) and in the ward. Results - There were no significant differences as regards age, weight and height of the patients and duration of anesthesia and surgery. Nausea and vomiting were more frequent in patients who received N2O (GII, 50%; GIV, 33%), as compared to those who didn't receive this agent (GI and GII, 9.5% and 14.35%, respectively). Metoclopramide decreased the incidence of nausea and vomiting in the recovery room, in patients who didn't receive N2O (GII). These patients remained in the recovery room for 90 minutes. Conclusions - N2O increases the incidence of nausea and vomiting and metoclopramide is effective in reducing these complications only in the recovery room.
