Anomaloterga mantiqueirae: a new genus and species of Strogulomorphini from the Mantiqueira fault escarpment, Brazil (Orthoptera, Phalangopsidae, Strogulomorphini).

A new genus and species of cricket, Anomaloterga mantiqueirae, here described, is the first representative of Strogulomorphini to be reported from Brazil. The specimens were collected at night from the lower portions of live tree trunks in a summit forest located on the Mantiqueira Fault Escarpment, State of São Paulo.

Two new species of the cricket genus Eidmanacris and a new combination name for a third species (Orthoptera, Grylloidea, Phalangopsidae)

Two new species of the genus Eidmanacris are described (E. bidentata and E. corumbatai) and a new combination name ( E. alboannulata) is assigned for the species Arachnomimus alboannulatus Piza, 1960 (= E. bicornis Mesa & Mello, 1985). Morphological and karyologycal information are provided, and the structure of the genital sclerites is discussed. Genitalia, acoustics and chromosomes of Urogryllus toledopizai (Orthoptera: Gryllidae)

Morphological structures of male and female genitalia and the pars stridens of a population of Urogryllus toledopizai Mello (1988) as well as the karyotype of the species are illustrated. The characteristics of song signals and associated behavior are described and information on the seasonality of the species is provided. Disagreements with the results published by other authors are discussed.

Reproductive behavior of Eidmanacris corumbatai garcia (Orthoptera: Phalangopsidae)

Adult males of Eidmanacris corumbatai Garcia have reduced tegmina without stridulatory apparatus. For this reason, they developed other means of intra-specific communication. During courtship, the males use a combination of foreleg drumming and waving of the antennae, in addition to chemical signaling through pheromones. The females become receptive to copulation when the males expose their metanotal gland. This gland, located on the male metanotum, is also a source of substances on which females feed before receiving the spermatophore. During copulation, the female destroys the apex of the metanotal gland to gain access to the secretion released by this structure.
