A dissertação discute o vestuário feminino em Belém do Pará nas duas primeiras décadas do século XX, buscando compreender os múltiplos sentidos dados à roupa feminina pelas próprias mulheres e pelos cronistas de revistas e jornais que circulavam na capital paraense como A Semana, Belém Nova, A Tarde, A Palavra, a Folha do Norte dentre outros. Nesse sentido, as reflexões se voltam para as relações entre o consumo de elementos de moda e o avanço da modernidade em Belém, tendo como pano de fundo as profundas transformações urbanas por que passou a cidade nas primeiras décadas do século XX, marcadas posteriormente pela crise nos negócios da borracha. Revelam-se assim, a busca por mudanças de algumas dessas mulheres construídas a partir do corte dos cabelos, do comprimento das saias, a construção de uma nova aparência, e as preocupações em disputar espaços além da ambiência do privado. Assim, a sociabilidade construída por muitas mulheres da elite, sugere o questionamento do seu papel social, em que a moda, por vezes, funcionava como discurso não-verbal.

OBJECTIVE: To verify the use of maximal running distance performed on Hoff test to predict the anaerobic threshold speed (sAnT). METHODS: Ten young soccer players (age of 17 ± 1 years and body mass of 64.3 ± 2.1 kg) were subjects of the study. The subjects performed 12-min test, lactate minimum test to estimate the anaerobic threshold speed and a field test called Hoff. The purpose of Hoff test was to cover the maximum distance during a period of 10min moving a soccer ball through the track by dribbling. RESULTS: The distance covered during 12-min was 2673.2 ± 64.7 m, the sAnT was 11.6 ± 0.3 km.h-1 and distance covered during test Hoff test was 1458.7 ± 49.6 m. The distance covered during Hoff test was not significantly correlated with sAnT (r = -0.20; P > 0.05) and distance covered during 12-min test (r = -0.15; P > 0.05). The sAnT did not differ of speed correspondent 90% at 12-min speed and they were statistically correlated (r = 0.65). CONCLUSION: Thus, we concluded that maximal distance covered during Hoff test cannot provides a valid prediction of the anaerobic threshold speed.

Introduction: The myofascial pain syndrome (SDM) is one of the most common causes of musculoskeletal pain. One of the possible treatments for SDM is the type of physiotherapy myofascial manipulation. Objective: This study aimed to analyze the effect of manipulative technique with myofascial pain threshold before and after applying the technique in athletes during competition period. Methods: Participated in the study 62 subjects of both genders, aged between 14 and 38 (19.64 + 4.89), who had myofascial pain syndrome, 32 oh the treatment group and 30 divided equally between control group and the placebo group. All were athletes and operated by the Department of Sport and Leisure in the city of Marilia – SP and were in competitive period. The volunteers were evaluated according to their musculoskeletal symptoms to prove the necessity of performing the technique of myofascial manipulation. Confi rmed the need to assess the pressure pain threshold (LDP) using a digital dynamometer. After the measurement, patients underwent treatment or using the technique of myofascial manipulation, or a sliding surface for the placebo or no treatment for the control group followed by the immediate reassessment of the LDP. Results: The results were normalized by Kolmogrov-Smirnov test (KS). Through the ANOVA test found no differences between the initial LDP thresholds between groups. To compare pre and post LDP of the three groups we used the paired t test. Signifi cant difference (p=0.0001) between the values of pain threshold before and after application of myofascial manipulation for the treated group and not signifi cant for the control group (p=0.45) and placebo (p=0.16). Conclusion: We conclude then that the myofascial manipulation technique is able to increase pain threshold after micro-musculoskeletal injuries in athletes in competitive period.

The mobility of water in the soil is a difficult process to be quantified. During precipitation, there is a portion of the water that infiltrates, which is very important for recovering the groundwater balance. This work studies the mobility of water in sandy soils with different textures and residual soils through experiments mounted in lysimeters. The lysimeters were mounted on acrylic cylinder with 11.3 cm diameter and 25.0 cm in length. The sand was deposited using the process sand rain. In the tests it was maintained a hydraulic head of two centimeters above the surface with the aid of a Mariotte flask. The portions of water were controlled in the experiments using relations between weight and volume measurements over time. The data were obtained by monitoring the input and output volumes of water through calibrated reservoir and system weight by an electronic balance. The infiltration front was monitored with the aid of a digital camera. The results indicate that the smaller the particle size of the sand, the lower the speed of the saturation front, the higher the retained volume, the smaller the basic rate of infiltration and the lowest speed of percolation. Moreover, the rate of water loss in the evaporation process indicated no significant difference with variation of the particle size of the samples

This papper aims to discuss Ribeirão Preto as a switched-over intermediate city classification, contrastating with the concept of Metropolitan Region of Ribeirão Preto. The agribusiness sector will be analysed as the main responsible for the representation of Ribeirão Preto city as an Agribusiness Center. Due to this fact, Sertãozinho city example will be presented as Agribusiness City, where acctually concentrates the agro-industrial complex of sugarcane production, while Ribeirão Preto is in fact centralizes management activities. According to the balance of trade analysis, other elements showed up and fortifies the role of this cities. These elements unfolded the analysis of higher education guideline and shopping malls. We also analyzed the urban network of Ribeirão Preto under the concept of the Região de Influência das Cidades (REGIC) and the creation of the project Metropolitan Region of Ribeirão Preto in order to strengthen the central hypothesis as a switched-over medium sized city. Interventions in nature made by man are very common since the beginnings of human history, especially in the case regarding the storage of water. The construction of dams have been and still are fundamental in maintaining human life due to the vital importance that water plays. The size of these structures vary according to need, such as water catchment, fish-farming or electricity generation. Embankment dams are the most common type of these structures. Can be defined as dams natural material obtained from loan chambers located near the dam site. This type of barrier may be divided into earth dams and rockfill dams. The study area covers an earth dam located in Cordeirópolis (SP) and is essentially composed of diabases altered soil of the Serra Geral Formation of the Paraná Basin. With the aid of geophysics, more specifically of the Electrical Resistivity method, the aim is to check any water infiltration zones in the dam's body. Given the risks associated with water seepage in earth dams, that may generate breakdown structures, erosion, and consequently accidents and / or harmful factors in the nearby areas. One of the main structural problems married by water infiltration is the possible generation of pipes that could jeopardize the dam structure. This work aims to contribute towards the evaluation of the effectiveness of using an indirect technique of research and monitoring in aid to direct research techniques such as piezometers and drive stakes. The results are presented in the form of 2D and 3D geophysical models, the analysis shows a low resistivity zone with typical values of the presence of humidity originating upstream of the dam and downstream bottleneck trend, that are the basis for interpretation by percolation or not water in the dam
