When exhausted, the batteries are classified as hazardous waste because it has potentially toxic heavy metals and bio-accumulators, such as mercury, cadmium and lead in their internal composition functional. Due to the high level of danger, such waste should be properly designed to not allow theses chemical components to cause significant impacts on the environment. Thus, the recycling of waste in question is the best destination. In this context, was wanted to know, through a questionnaire in interview format, how the graduates of the Universidade Estadual Paulista Julio de Mesquita Filho of Rio Claro / SP are involved with this environmental issue. O “liquor” de laranja é um subproduto da indústria de suco de laranja, liquido resultante da prensagem do bagaço da laranja; atualmente sua utilidade pela indústria cítrica é a produção de ração animal. Mas estudos anteriores revelaram uma nova utilidade para o “liquor” de laranja: a produção de aguardente. Tal produto demonstrou ser uma excelente alternativa para o uso do mesmo, visto que a aguardente produzida tem potencial de ser o segundo produto em valor agregado e em volume produzido pela indústria de suco de laranja. A indústria cervejeira utiliza leveduras Saccharomyces cerevisae para a produção de cerveja, que são descartadas após cinco utilizações, mas ainda com grande viabilidade, apresentando um valor médio de 2% de células mortas. Foi descrito em trabalhos anteriores que tais leveduras podem ser utilizadas na produção de aguardente de “liquor” de laranja, aumentando o caráter de sustentabilidade da aguardente produzida. Este trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar a viabilidade das leveduras S. cerevisae, na fermentação do “liquor” de laranja, após bateladas de fermentação do “liquor.

A principal preocupação relacionada à produção de resíduos tem sido o manejo e a gestão integrada, procedimentos que passaram a fazer parte das políticas de gestão com o objetivo de evitar problemas irreversíveis ao meio ambiente e aos seres humanos. Neste trabalho estuda-se a possibilidade da incineração dos Resíduos Sólidos Urbanos (RSU) como solução para o problema relacionado com a destinação dos resíduos gerados na Região de Bauru. Estimar os custos de capital e a viabilidade econômica para o projeto de incineradores de larga escala é uma tarefa prioritária para auxiliar o processo de tomada de decisão. Este trabalho revê a situação dos resíduos sólidos na região de Bauru e realiza revisão dos processos empregados e existentes no tratamento dos RSU com o objetivo de analisar a viabilidade da implantação de uma usina de incineração com geração de energia elétrica para o tratamento dos resíduos sólidos coletados na Região de Bauru. O estudo apresenta um retorno interessante ao passo que as simulações apresentam indicadores favoráveis a sua implantação.

Currently there are two car models that use electricity in their propulsion systems, the electric vehicle and the hybrid electric vehicle. The electric vehicles are classified as vehicles that use electric motors in their propulsion system and batteries as a power source, on the other hand, the hybrid vehicles are classified as vehicles that use both electric motors and internal combustion engines in their propulsion system, using both batteries and líquid fuels as a power source. The main goal of this work is to analyze the characteristics of electric and hybrid electric vehicles and demonstrate the unfeasibility of the electric vehicle in the current economic, political, energetic and environmental brazilian scenario, for this purpose it was realized a study about the current brazilian situation regarding to electricity generation, current conservation status of road network, lack of electrical infrastructure for charging batteries, national lithium reserves, environmental characteristics, tax incentives, economic scenario, oil market and political positioning related to the implantation of electric or hybrid electric fleets in nacional territory. The operational characteristics analysis of electric and hybrid electric vehicles in this current scenario leads to the conclusion that currently a growth of electric vehicles fleets on a national scale is totally impractical in the Brazil, Thus, the introduction of green vehicles probably will occur primarily with hybrid electric models, motivated mainly due the bigger autonomy of this models compared to electric models, lower cost of hybrid electric models compared to electric models, factors related to the lack of recharging infrastructure and also factors related to political positioning

The product development field daily works in the chase of new materials and technologies that fulfills the requirements of the consumer market. So, projects are developed in order to theoretically predict what will actually happen. The production of household appliance is not different. To provide a pleasant bath to the costumer, the manufacture of a bathtub counts on many components. With this in mind, this work goal is to study the possibility of production by plastic injection of the assembly water source/overflow pipe used in bathtubs and compare its production cost with the cost of the assembly acquired from third parties. The injection process is widely used on the world stage because of its numerous advantages, however, due to the high cost of the molds, it is important to estimate the time required for the return of the initial investment. To do this, a model was designed to examine its dimensions and then initiate the study of the possibility to inject the components with the available injection machine and the production cycle. With the results, it was found that there was a reduction in the cost of the finished assembly, but a very long time to return the initial investment due to the current financial scenery of the country

Given the current energy crisis experienced in our country with the lack of rain in some areas, the energy distributors were forced to resort to thermal power plants to complement their energy production; raising the cost of electricity generation, they have been forced to repass this value to the customers through the Tariff Flags. Concerned about a substantial increase in their electric bill, some consumers were forced to look for alternatives so that their results are not affected. The use of diesel generation at peak hours is a relatively simple and inexpensive alternative that has been widely used for several industrial, commercial and service customers. In this present work, we conducted a feasibility study of the use of diesel generators at peak hours in a medium-sized hospital, calculating the depreciation period for the investment through savings in electricity bills

The automobile industry has a growing importance in the Brazilian economic environment. The industry moves a huge chain that encompasses manufacturers, suppliers of raw materials, auto parts dealers, gas stations, insurance companies, repair shops, tire stores, media companies, advertising agencies, among others. Because of this importance in the current economic environment in Brazil, the federal government, through Law No. 12715 of 17 December 2012 established a Program for the Promotion of Innovation and Densification in the Productive Chain of Motor Vehicles called INOVAR-AUTO in order to support technological development, innovation, safety, environmental protection, energy efficiency and quality of cars, trucks, buses and auto parts. The specific purpose of this study, a simulation for discussion of the viability of the program implementation using the Monte Carlo Simulation combined with the Cash-Flow-at-Risk was performed. To this end, an exploratory and documentary literature on the subject was held as well as a case study in a automobile company of Japanese origin
