Iowa Elder Abuse Initiative Demonstration Projects Fiscal Year 2001-2011

In 2001, the Iowa Legislature approved approximately $475,000 to fund strategies for elder abuse detection, training and services in an effort to evaluate Iowa’s adult abuse system. This endeavor became known as Iowa’s Elder Abuse Initiative (EAI) demonstration projects. These projects were located in 4 of the 13 Area Agencies on Aging and available in 22 of Iowa’s 99 counties. The EAI focused on the prevention, intervention, detection, and reporting of elder abuse, neglect and exploitation by presenting elders with options to enhance their lifestyle choices.

Elder Abuse Task Force Report Pursuant to HF 2387: An Act Relating to Improvements to and Implementation of Laws Concerning Elder Abuse

During its 2012 session, Iowa’s 84th General Assembly passed House File 2387. The bill was signed into law by Governor Branstad and mandated a review of occurrences of and laws relating to abuse, neglect, or exploitation of individuals who are sixty years of age or older. After conducting the review, the twenty-three member Elder Abuse Task Force presents the following recommendations. These recommendations build upon current Iowa law and practice for the purpose of protecting older Iowans from abuse, neglect, and exploitation.

2013 Elder Abuse Task Force Final Report Pursuant to Senate File 446, Section 50, December 13, 2013

Per the guidance of the Legislative Elder Abuse Prevention and Intervention Interim Committee, a prioritization of the implementation recommendations and proposed legislation are below listed in the order determined in the 2012 Elder Abuse Task Force Report.

Regurgitating Nature: On a Celebrated Anecdote by Karel van Mander about Pieter Bruegel the Elder

The curious anecdote in Karel van Mander’s biography of Bruegel, where the artist is said to have swallowed all the mountains and rocks during his crossing of the Alps and spat them out again onto canvas and panels upon returning home, has been quoted by almost every Bruegel scholar. Yet it has never been given a full explanation. In this study, it is proposed that the passage, echoing on one level Bruegel’s frequent depiction of overindulging peasants, disguises a highly cultivated reference to the theory of imitation as a digestive process, or innutrition theory, which was widely used by humanist writers of the time to champion vernacular expression.

El rector del Colegio publica un edicto para comunicar a la comunidad del Colegio Mayor del Rosario sobre la vacante de catedrático de Artes, presentan su solicitud para la oposición: Feliciano de Mañas y Riopa, Antonio Claudio Briceto y Jacinto Roque de Guzmán. El expediente continúa con las oposiciones de los tres candidatos, se describe el protocolo de la presentación y argumentación de las preguntas ante las cabezas del Colegio Mayor y de la Real Audiencia de Santafé. Luego se expone la elección del nuevo catedrático de artes: Jacinto Roque de Guzmán. En el folio 22 se encuentra la solicitud de admisión al rector por parte del nuevo catedrático. Siendo rector don Juan Andrés Manzanares y Juera, vicerrector don José Manzanares y secretario don Francisco José Flórez y Vanegas.
