The intensification of the fear in the city and in the spaces controlled by this feeling has contributed to a growing socio-spatial inequality, and the rapid growth of market protection. The residential condos emerge as a possible solution to the problem. This is a housing typology expanding worldwide which is seen, especially by the urban middle class, as enablers of quality of life and safety. In Brazil, especially in large cities, the quest for quality of life is directly connected with the desire for security translated through space control (use of high walls, gates, entrance hall, security cameras) and people who use it. This thesis aims at investigating how the different categories of inhabitants of an area predominantly occupied by vertical residential condos realize the socio-spatial dimension and the socio-urban space determined by this type of development. It especially takes into consideration the issue of urban insecurity, based on the assumption that, although published and sold by marketing as safe places , synonym of welfare and supporters of community life , the living in these condos, may even inhibits, social relationships, contributing to socio-spatial isolation and consequent social weakness. This is a survey that seeks to meet the assumptions of Environmental Psychology towards the comprehension of person-environment studies, emphasizing the use of different methods (desk research, observations of and group interviews, focus group technique using photographic resources), as well as the focus on current problems of the urban scene and the knowledge gained in Social Psychology

Este trabalho apresenta uma metodologia para a avaliação da potencialidade hidrogeológica baseada na análise e cruzamento de informações históricas, bibliográficas, sensoriamento remoto e de geologia na área do Condomínio Residencial Villa Verde, no município de Araçariguama – SP. No condomínio Villa Verde existem dois poços artesianos, sendo que o primeiro foi feito durante a construção do condomínio e o segundo poço foi perfurado em 2002, quando o consumo de água do condomínio se tornou maior que a capacidade de produção do primeiro poço. Após a realização de um estudo geológico e geofísico para determinar a melhor localização do poço na área do condomínio, ele foi locado e perfurado, mas o poço não produziu água. Geologicamente a área de estudo esta localizada sobre o Granitóide São Roque e os metassedimentos da Formação Serra do Itaberaba (xistos argilosos). Diante deste contexto geológico o modelo de aquífero considerado foi o fraturado, tornando importante a caracterização estrutural do maciço rochoso com ênfase nas descontinuidades. Os estudos desenvolvidos neste trabalho tiveram um foco prático e voltado para a definição de estruturas com potencial para abrigar um aquífero do tipo fraturado, indicando as áreas para um estudo prospectivo de detalhe, podendo ser o mesmo direto (sondagem) ou indireto (geofísica terrestre).

As iniciativas e discussões em torno dos modelos de uma televisão cultural-educativa e/ou pública entre os anos 1960 e 1974 recebem nesta obra, de Eduardo Amando de Barros Filho uma análise histórica, algo raro na bibliografia sobre o tema. O estudo se baseia na trajetória da TV Cultura, de São Paulo, originariamente uma emissora privada ligada ao condomínio Diário e Emissoras Associados, de propriedade do empresário Assis Chateaubriand, e posteriormente adquirida pelo governo paulista. E conclui que as definições e iniciativas voltadas para a criação de uma TV como serviço público, educacional e cultural são limitadas e frágeis no país. O autor explora aspectos que envolveram a criação e o desenvolvimento da TV Cultura, tais como as visões e opiniões de órgãos de imprensa da época, os debates nos campos político e cultural, as ações que permitiram a concessão da emissora privada, a criação da Fundação Padre Anchieta, à qual a Cultura está vinculada, e sua relação com o governo de São Paulo. Dessa forma traça um painel histórico, que excede os limites das análises convencionais sobre meios de comunicação.

Atlantic Forest and Cerrado are between the biological richest areas in the world, for that are considered top conservation priorities. Those ecosystems are found at Botucatu region, where it´s extremely fragmented by routes, agricultural areas and urban centres. This fragmentation causes restrictions on animals populations, in particular to medium and large mammals, that needs larger areas to live and also are often hunted. Even isolated and suffering anthropic influences the fragments are fundamental for local biodiversity conservation. We realized a mammal survey on two forest fragments of Atlantic forest transition to Cerrado of Rubião Júnior – Botucatu – SP – Brazil: Santo Antônio Church and Parque das Cascatas forests. The Santo Antônio church munt is considered a turistic point and its forest receive many visitants, Parque das Cascatas forest is inside of a residential condominium. Both areas are classify as semidecidual stational forest and are disconected by Domingos Sartori route, that connect Botucatu centre to Rubião Júnior district. Around both fragments can be found residences, plantations and pastures. The utilized method included: recognition of tracks on the forests, interviews with next residents and sand plots mounting. The interviews indicated 29 mammals species, and 19 was validated for animal traces, overruns or visualization. Other 3 species found were not mentioned on interviews. Totally, was found 22 small and medium mammals presence evidences on both forest fragments. Parque das Cascatas forest showed more diversity (19) then Santo Antônio Church forest (11), and species like Eira barbara, Procyon cancrivorus, Mazama americana, Shiggurus villosus, Dasypus novemcinctus, Didelphis albiventris, Lutreolina crassicaudata and Lepus europaeus looked for other areas once that was verifyed overruns of individuals... Entrepreneurs responsible for the housing project “Vale do Sol III”, (claim of deployment), proposed a technique, in order to resolve conflicts of interest arising in respect Vale do Sol I residents (already implemented). Conflicts taken place in accordance with environmental problems that originated (past) in poor drainage of rainwater from Água Fria stream. This work, based on study case method with deductive approach, analyzed the environmental aspects of the area in order to contribute to the process of sustainable management of medium-sized cities (present), as well as analyzing the prospects for adequate outcome environmental demand (future) . In terms of technical and methodological procedures, was used geoprocessing softwares for the purpose of supporting analysis. It was concluded that, technique proposed at Vale do Sol III enterprise, don’t have necessary, sufficient and satisfactory solution in order to, at least, mitigate the problems of area sustainability. In terms of future prospects, it was concluded that, good sustainable environmental management, with preventive measures, from the point of view of mitigating the environmental and urban conflicts, and corrective measures.

Responsible entrepreneurs responsible for housing project "Vale do Sol III" (claim of deployment) had proposed technique in order to solve conflicts of interest, arising with respect to residents of Vale do Sol I (already implemented). Conflicts gave up due to environmental and urban problems, originated in a notification of responsible concessionaire for the administration of Marechal Rondon highway (entry and exit of people on the road, in the city of Botucatu, Sao Paulo state). This work, based on study case method, within a deductive approach, analyzed urban and environmental aspects of the area in order to contribute to sustainable management of medium-sized cities. There was, moreover, use of GIS software for purpose of supporting this technical analysis. Investigations were carried out within environmental and urban viewpoints about Água Fria watershed, as well as technical and legal basis arising devices both municipal and federal regulations. It was concluded that proposed project of Vale do Sol III, about containment of stormwater and alternative technical and locational traffic, not presented as necessary solution, sufficient and satisfactory in the sense of, at least, mitigate sustainability problems of surrounding area (Água Fria watershed, into which could insert even Vale do Sol I condominium, subject to notification).
