Improving a Cluster Based Directional Channel Model in Realistic Macro-Cell Environment

In this paper a realistic directional channel model that is an extension of the COST 273 channel model is presented. The model uses a cluster of scatterers and visibility region generation based strategy with increased realism, due to the introduction of terrain and clutter information. New approaches for path-loss prediction and line of sight modeling are considered, affecting the cluster path gain model implementation. The new model was implemented using terrain, clutter, street and user mobility information for the city of Lisbon, Portugal. Some of the model's outputs are presented, mainly path loss and small/large-scale fading statistics.

Equilibrium self-assembly of colloids with distinct interaction sites: Thermodynamics, percolation, and cluster distribution functions

We calculate the equilibrium thermodynamic properties, percolation threshold, and cluster distribution functions for a model of associating colloids, which consists of hard spherical particles having on their surfaces three short-ranged attractive sites (sticky spots) of two different types, A and B. The thermodynamic properties are calculated using Wertheim's perturbation theory of associating fluids. This also allows us to find the onset of self-assembly, which can be quantified by the maxima of the specific heat at constant volume. The percolation threshold is derived, under the no-loop assumption, for the correlated bond model: In all cases it is two percolated phases that become identical at a critical point, when one exists. Finally, the cluster size distributions are calculated by mapping the model onto an effective model, characterized by a-state-dependent-functionality (f) over bar and unique bonding probability (p) over bar. The mapping is based on the asymptotic limit of the cluster distributions functions of the generic model and the effective parameters are defined through the requirement that the equilibrium cluster distributions of the true and effective models have the same number-averaged and weight-averaged sizes at all densities and temperatures. We also study the model numerically in the case where BB interactions are missing. In this limit, AB bonds either provide branching between A-chains (Y-junctions) if epsilon(AB)/epsilon(AA) is small, or drive the formation of a hyperbranched polymer if epsilon(AB)/epsilon(AA) is large. We find that the theoretical predictions describe quite accurately the numerical data, especially in the region where Y-junctions are present. There is fairly good agreement between theoretical and numerical results both for the thermodynamic (number of bonds and phase coexistence) and the connectivity properties of the model (cluster size distributions and percolation locus).

A moda e a educação

No presente estudo reduz-se a pesquisa à análise do aspecto vestimentar da Moda. Procurar-se-á no entanto inventariar as várias hipóteses de relações entre a questão da educação e os consumos de indumentária, desde a vertente mais formal, à educação menos convencional. Este texto é também um pretexto para pedagogicamente dar indicações bibliográficas na área, destinadas a servir de guia a todos os que procuram informação teórica que os leve a aproximações ao estudo da Moda.

A moda da revolução francesa à queda do império napoleónico

Ao leccionar as cadeiras de História do Vestuário e da Moda no curso de Design de Moda, entretanto extinto, no IADE, e, posteriormente, sendo regente das cadeiras de História do Traje no curso de Realização Plástica do Espectáculo, na Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema, verifiquei a importância que a Revolução Francesa e os tempos que se lhe seguiram até à queda de Napoleão Bonaparte teve para a Moda, não só directa como indirectamente. A presente pesquisa permitiu ainda identificar uma série de situações geralmente desconhecidas. Assim é aqui registada e estabelecida uma proposta de ciclo de evolução de consumos de indumentária. Ao sistematizar este ciclo, verifiquei ainda, com alguma surpresa, que ele não foi único na História da Indumentária, mas que poderia ser encontrado noutras situações revolucionárias, nomeadamente foi achada uma identidade de situações num outro particular momento da História do Traje, desta feita em Portugal – a Revolução dos Cravos e o período subsequente.

O ténis e a moda

Interagindo com a evolução do vestuário, o desporto em geral e o ténis em particular têm influenciado ao longo dos tempos a Moda, sendo o contrário também verdadeiro. Assim, muitos dos trajes adaptados à prática desportiva vão passando para o traje quotidiano, da mesma forma que algumas das inovações da Moda são incorporadas no vestuário usado para praticar desporto, ao nível da forma, mas também das cores, padrões, ornamentos, etc., sendo ainda possível verificar neste âmbito a influência dos designers de moda que não raro têm produzido indumentária desportiva.

A moda e o traje militar no século XVII

O traje militar, em geral, e em Portugal, em particular, teve uma enorme evolução no século XVII. Foi nesta centúria que se deram as primeiras tentativas em Portugal de introduzir e regular os uniformes. Paralelamente verifica-se que a indumentária militar sofreu de fortes influências da Moda vigente. ABSTRACT - The military costume had an enormous evolution in the seventeenth century. It was in this century that the first attempts were made to introduce the uniforms in Portugal. It appears that the military outfit suffered from strong influences from fashion.

António Ferro:o traje e a moda

António Ferro foi uma personalidade fulcral para a cultura do século XX em Portugal, sendo as suas obras reflexo do tempo que viveu e das ideias que defendeu, estando quer estas, quer as de sua mulher, Fernanda de Castro, recheadas de referências à indumentária e as modas que se iam sucedendo e que muitas vezes descreveu. ABSTRACT - António Ferro was a main personality of the cultural scene of the twentieth century in Portugal. His works reflect the time he lived and ideas that defended, being either it, or those written by his wife, Fernanda de Castro, filled with references to clothing and the fashions that were succeeding and that he often described.

José Régio e a moda

Qual foi a relação de José Régio com a moda? Dos indícios documentais biográficos, releva uma relação com a indumentária pessoal muito sóbria, muito menos preocupada que a de outros escritores, mas igualmente longe do desleixo. Na sua obra, as descrições de vestuário e as referências à moda são parcas e multo limitadas e nem mesmo a excepção de ter escrito um conto sobre um vestido questiona uma atitude geral de alheamento e desinteresse. ABSTRACT - What was the relationship between José Régio and Fashion? His biography reveals a very sober personal relationship with clothing, much less worried than other writers, but also away from the carelessness. In his work, descriptions of clothing and references to fashion are scarce and limited and not even have written a short story about one dress changes a general attitude of aloofness and detachment.

Almeida Garrett foi uma personalidade fulcral para a cultura da primeira metade do século XIX em Portugal. As suas obras reflectem o tempo em que viveu, as ideias que defendeu e têm também referências à indumentária e à moda. Foi o editor do periódico de moda O Toucador. A sua biografia revela uma relação com a indumentária pessoal muito atenta e cuidada o que permite que seja considerado um dos primeiros dandies portugueses.
