The Changing Inter-Industry Wage Structure of the Organised Manufacturing Sector in India, 1973-74 to 2003-04

This study examines the inter-industry wage structure of the organised manufacturing sector in India for the period 1973-74 to 2003-04 by estimating the growth of average real wages for production workers by industry. In order to estimate the growth rates, the study adopts a methodological framework that differs from other studies in that the time series properties of the concerned variables are closely considered in order to obtain meaningful estimates of growth that are unbiased and (asymptotically) efficient. Using wage data on 51 manufacturing industries at three digit level of the National Industrial Classification 1998 (India), our estimation procedure obtains estimates of growth of real wages per worker that are deterministic in nature by accounting for any potential structural break(s). Our findings show that the inter-industry wage structure in India has changed a lot in the period 1973-74 to 2003-04 and that it provides some evidence that the inter-industry wage differences have become more pronounced in the post-reforms period. Thus this paper provides new evidence from India on the need to consider the hypothesis that industry affiliation is potentially an important determinant of wages when studying any relationship between reforms and wages.

Este estudo plantexa as interaccións habidas entre pensamento económico e a toma de decisións políticas a traveso dun caso concreto. Analizámo-las propostas referidas á política agraria plantexadas polo Ministro de Fomento Eugenio Montero Ríos (1885-1886) e a influencia que nelas exerciu o economista Joaquín Díaz de Rábago. Ámbolos dous foron galegos destacados da segunda metade do XIX . A investigación centrouse nas concomitancias entre as propostas lexislativas e as obras publicadas. Ainda que tamén pescudamos aspectos biográficos máis correspondencia persoal co gallo de evidencia-la amizade e a cooperación existentes entre eles.

Aspectos del teatro de guerrilla en Barcelona, 1965-1973 : el teatro como vehículo de encuentro

Prenent com a referència les aportacions de diversos estudis i codificacions que han tractat sobre la performance i el teatre com a acte polític i manera d'intervenció cultural, sense perdre de vista possibles generadors d'acció com la fantasia i la memòria creadora, analitzarem una manera concreta de fer teatre que es va donar a Barcelona entre els anys 1965 i 1973: el teatre de guerrilles, més concretament, el teatre de guerrilles de Jordi Dodero. Des de el seu context context, social i teatral, i amb aquest marc teòric de referència, atenent a la forma d'organització i de relació donarem compte d'una hipotètica possibilitat del teatre practicada a Barcelona durant els últims anys del franquisme en el si d'una forta convulsió social: el teatre com a vehicle de trobada.

Rhodnius amazonicus Almeida, Santos & Sposina, 1973, Bona Species, Close to R. pictipes Stål, 1872 (Heteroptera, Reduviidae, Triatominae)

The discovery of two atypical specimens of Rhodnius pictipes Stål, 1872 in French Guiana and the examination of the female holotype of R. amazonicus Almeida, Santos & Sposina, 1973, the only specimen of this species so far known, lead us to propose the rehabilitation of R. amazonicus synonymized with R. pictipes. The male is described for the first time and the female redescribed. Both external characters and genitalia distinguish R. amazonicus from R. pictipes. R. amazonicus shows affinities not only with pictipes but also with R. stali Lent, Jurberg & Galvão, 1993 and R. paraensis Sherlock, Guitton & Miles, 1977. A key is provided for these four species forming, in all likelihood, a natural group, i.e. the "pictipes group".

Systematics of Anopheles lanei Galvão and Amaral, a species of the subgenus Nyssorhynchus Blanchard (Diptera: Culicidae)

Anopheles (Nyssorhynchus) lanei Galvão and Amaral is here redescribed using morphological characteristics of adult, male and female, fourth instar larva and pupa. The larva, pupa, and male genitalia are illustrated. Diagnostic morphological characters of adults, male genitalia, fourth instar larva and pupa are provided to distinguish An. lanei from other species of the Argyritarsis section. Species distribution data are based on the published literature records and bionomics data are based on both literature records and field data.

Sobre l´elecció de bisbes durant el franquisme: els casos de Narcís Jubany (1964) i Jaume Camprodon (1973) per a la seu de Girona

L'objectiu d'aquest article és presentar les circumstàncies i algunes de les actuacions que es produïren a l'hora de fer els dos nomenaments que afectaren la diòcesi de Girona. El primer, per causa de la mort del bisbe Cartañà, enregistrada el 1963; i el segon, motivat pel trasllat del bisbe Jubany a Barcelona, el 1971

Redescription of Anopheles (Nyssorhynchus) antunesi Galvão & Amaral and description of a new species of the Myzorhynchella Section (Diptera: Culicidae) from Serra da Mantiqueira, Brazil

Anopheles (Nyssorhynchus) pristinus Nagaki & Sallum, n. sp. of the Myzorhynchella Section is described based on morphological characters of adult females, males, fourth-instar larvae, pupae and male genitalia. Anopheles (Nyssorhynchus) antunesi Galvão & Amaral is characterized to fix its identity and distinguish it from An. pristinus. The eggs of An. antunesi are described for the first time. Molecular characterization employing sequences of the COI mitochondrial gene and the ITS2 region of ribosomal DNA are provided for each species. An. antunesi and An. pristinus are compared with morphologically similar species of the Myzorhynchella Section. The results of the present study suggest that the new species has been misidentified as both An. antunesi and Anopheles lutzii Cruz. An. antunesi and An. pristinus are sympatric, occurring at high altitudes in Serra da Mantiqueira, Southeastern Brazil.
