Atlantic menhaden, Brevoortia tyrannus, Purse Seine Fishery, 1972-84, with a brief discussion of age and size composition of the Landings

This report summarizes (I) annual purse seine landings of Atlantic menhaden, Brevoortia tyrannus, for 1972-84, (2) estimated numbers of fish caught by fishing area. (3) estimates of nominal fishing effort and catch-per-unit-effort, (4) mean fish length and weight, and (5) major changes in the fishery. During the 1970s stock size and recruitment increased and the age composition broadened. reversing trends witnessed during the fishery's decline in the 1960s. Landings steadily improved and by 1980 the total coast wide landings exceeded 400,000 metric tons. Nevertheless, the character of the fishery changed considerably. Eleven reduction plants processed fish at seven ports in 1972, but in 1984 only eight plants operated at live ports. Beginning in the mid-1960s the center of fishing aclivity shifted from the Middle Atlantic area to the Chesapeake Bay area, which has continued to dominate the fishery in landings and effort through the 1970s and 1980s. During this period the average size and age of fish in the catches declined. (PDF file contains 30 pages.)

Distribution and relative abundance of pelagic nonsalmonid nekton Off Oregon and Washington, 1979-84

Fifteen fine-mesh (32-mm mesh) pelagic purse seine surveys were conducted between 1979 and 1984 off the Oregon and Washington coasts. Environmental conditions varied greatly among the years sampled, and even within years, due to variability in upwelling conditions and productivity and the effects of a strong El Nino from late 1982 to the middle of 1984. In the 843 sets made, a total of 115,891 specimens from 69 taxa was collected. Most individuals collected belonged to nine dominant taxa. Seasonal and interannual variations in the abundance and distribution patterns of these dominant taxa are presented in detail. A recurrent group analysis delineated four major groupings of nekton. There is no doubt that determination of the biomass of zooplankton (primarily of crustaceans) will be taken into consideration in practice and limnological works, especially after the recent publication of fairly comprehensive tables of weights of a whole range of species of freshwater copepods and cladocerans. The usefulness of applying formulae of determining the biomass of marine crustaceans for freshwater copepods is discussed.

Parasitic and infectious diseases of fish, of wide distribution in fish-rearing ponds, retard to a significant extent the development of fish culture in the Ukraine. One of the diseases of fish attracting attention in connection with the general distribution of its causative agent, the fungus Saprolegnia parasitica Coker, in water-bodies of various types, appears to be dermatomycosis. The aim of this investigation is to study the conditions favouring the development of S. parasitica. Among the studied factors were water temperature and oxygen content.

Cálculo de área de poligonais geodésicas ou loxodrômicas sobre o elipsóide do Sistema Geodésico WGS-84.

O cálculo da área de poligonais geodésicas é um desafio matemático instigante. Como calcular a área de uma poligonal sobre o elipsóide, se seus lados não possuem parametrização conhecida? Alguns trabalhos já foram desenvolvidos no intuito de solucionar este problema, empregando, em sua maioria, sistemas projetivos equivalentes ou aproximações sobre esferas autálicas. Tais métodos aproximam a superfície de referência elipsoidal por outras de mais fácil tratamento matemático, porém apresentam limitação de emprego, pois uma única superfície não poderia ser empregada para todo o planeta, sem comprometer os cálculos realizados sobre ela. No Código de Processo Civil, Livro IV, Título I, Capítulo VIII, Seção III artigo 971 diz, em seu parágrafo único, que não havendo impugnação, o juiz determinará a divisão geodésica do imóvel. Além deste, existe ainda a Lei 10.267/2001, que regula a obrigatoriedade, para efetivação de registro, dos vértices definidores dos limites dos imóveis rurais terem suas coordenadas georreferenciadas ao Sistema Geodésico Brasileiro (SGB), sendo que áreas de imóveis menores que quatro módulos fiscais terão garantida isenção de custos financeiros.Este trabalho visa fornecer uma metodologia de cálculo de áreas para poligonais geodésicas, ou loxodrômicas, diretamente sobre o elipsóide, bem como fornecer um programa que execute as rotinas elaboradas nesta dissertação. Como a maioria dos levantamentos geodésicos é realizada usando rastreadores GPS, a carga dos dados é pautada em coordenadas (X, Y, Z), empregando o Sistema Geodésico WGS-84, fornecendo a área geodésica sem a necessidade de um produto tipo SIG. Para alcançar o objetivo deste trabalho, foi desenvolvida parametrização diferente da abordagem clássica da Geodésia geométrica, para transformar as coordenadas (X, Y, Z) em geodésicas.

重组人甲状旁腺素(rhPTH(1-84))的原核表达及发酵条件初步优化

下载PDF阅读器甲状旁腺激素(Parathyroid Hormone,PTH)是治疗骨质疏松症的药物之一.将人工合成全长人PTH(hPTH(1-84))的核苷酸序列插入pThioHis A载体中,然后转化大肠杆菌(Escherichia coli.),在IPTG的诱导下,成功实现了rhPTH(1-84)的原核表达.通过发酵条件的优化,初步确定1:40接种.LB+30% M9盐溶液的发酵培养基,37℃培养至OD600nm=0.8时,加入终浓度为0.6 mmol/L的IPTG,诱导8 h的较优发酵程序.

温度引起的ZnSe/Zn_（0.84）Mn_（0.16）Se超晶格中势阱层和势垒层的反转

测量了ZnSe，Zn_(0.84)Mn_(0.16)Se合金和ZnSe/Zn_(0.84)Mn_(0.16)Se超晶格的10～300K的变温光致发光谱。发现ZnSe的带隙在10K时比Zn_(0.84)Mn_(0.16)Se合金的带隙小，而在300K时比合金的带隙大。预计ZnSe/Zn_(0.84)Mn_(0.16)Se超晶格中在130K附近会发生势阱层和势垒层的反转。在ZnSe/Zn_(0.84)Mn_(0.16)Se超晶格中观测到了这种反转但发生在80K附近。超晶格中Zn_(0.84)Mn_(0.16)Se层的应变可能是反转温度变低的原因。

84.5MeV~(12)C~(4+)离子诱发金属靶原子发射的Kβ与Kα-X射线强度比值的研究

本实验是在中国科学院兰州近代物理研究所,国家实验室的重离子加速器上完成的.实验用OR-TEC公司生产的HPGe X射线探测器测量了84.5 MeV的12C4+离子轰击Cu,Mo,Ag,Cd,In,Sn,W和Au金属靶产生的K壳层特征X射线谱,计算了Kβ与Kα-X射线强度的比值,并将结果与Scofield用Hartree-Fock-Slater模型计算出的理论值与用其它方法(如:衰变幅射,用光子,电子,质子等粒子与靶相互作用)得到的实验值进行了比较.比较结果表明用84.5 MeV的12C4+离子轰击Cu,Mo,Ag,Cd,In,Sn,W和Au金属靶产生的Kβ与K-αX射线强度比值比理论值和其它实验值要大许多.
