Peces continentales de la Argentina: Iconografía. Gymnocharacinus bergii.

Espanol: Este trabajo tiene como objetivo la recopilación de dibujos y diferentes figuras de las especies presentes en nuestro territorio. Para ello, hemos utilizado como principales fuentes de información la obra de Ringuelet et al. (1967), Reis et al. (2003), López et al. (2003; 2006) y las bases de datos on-line de W. N. Eschmeyer y Fish Base. El tratamiento incluye una ficha individual con imágenes seleccionadas de la especie tratada y las que eventualmente hayan surgido por trabajos de índole anatómica. Se adjuntan las referencias de los trabajos utilizados en la confección de cada ficha. Esta es una publicación abierta, por lo que requerirá de actualización permanente, para lo cual sería necesario se sume a nuestra tarea la buena voluntad y colaboración de la comunidad ictiológica. Los compiladores entendemos que esta contribución, además de aportar valiosa información, rescata el trabajo de mujeres y hombres que son parte de la rica historia de la ictiología nacional y regional. To achieve this, our main sources of information have been the works of Ringuelet et al. (1967), Reis et al. (2003), and López et al. (2003; 2006), as well as the online databases of W. N. Eschmeyer and Fish Base. Each species has an individual factsheet with selected images, including some from anatomical research works. All the works referenced are mentioned in each factsheet. This is an open-ended publication. As such, it will require permanent updating, which will depend on the good will and collaboration of the ichthyological community. As compilers, we understand that this contribution not only provides valuable information, but also highlights the work of men and women who are part of the rich history of our national and regional ichthyology. (1967), CLOFFSCA (2003), López et al. (2003; 2006), Liotta (2006) and the online databases of W. N. Eschmeyer and Fish Base. This is an open-ended publication. As such, it will require permanent updating, which will depend on the good will and collaboration of the ichthyological community. With this contribution, we hope to help to build a database of the freshwater fish of Argentina. The completion of this project will provide support to diverse plans emanating from different sectors, as well as promote the diffusion of this field of research and reaffirm Argentina’s sovereign rights over our natural resources. Introducción de peces exóticos en la República Argentina

A review and analysis of the exotic fish distribution and introduction is made using bibliographic information. Both lentic and lotic environments were considered. In order to classify the state of the populations, different categories were defined as follow: permanent, probably permanent, reported and unknown. Results show that 15 species were attempted to be introduced from 1904. Only 8 of them arose an successfull aclimatization: raimbow trout, brown trout, lake trout, landlocked salmon, carp, goldfish, and mosquitofish. For the salmonids, ecological features were analized, in order to explain the disappearence or the permanence in some regions. (Document contains 90 pages)

Esclusas de peces en la represa de Salto Grande. Consideraciones acerca de su funcionamiento

Fishlocks at Salto Grande Reservoir. Considerations about its functioning. The Salto Grande dam, has in its structure two Borland type fishlocks. The fish passage efficiency is low, and it is limited by the original system design, the management of the dam and the Uruguay river hidrology. Thus, in the 1984-1986 period, on annual average, the fishlocks were out of service 53 o/o of the time, while in the two periods when higher observed fish accumulation occur, march-april and september-october, the passages were closed 72 o/o and 54 o/o of the time, respectively. Trabajos de marcación de peces en el Río de la Plata

Sampling sites were located at: 1) a coastal area on Buenos Aires harbour where high concentrations of "sábalo" occur year round and which on account of its importance merits a specific program itself; 2) a coastal fringe from Buenos Aires harbour to Quilmes (34° 10' - 58° 10') and 3) different stations within the inner zone of the river, which were covered through a tagging campaign performed as part of an agreement among INIDEP-Argentina, CARP-Argentina, Uruguay, INAPE-Uruguay. At present (Winter 1989) recaptures from the first seven species have been obtained, with a total recovery of 3.81 o/o the highest percentages corresponding to patí, boga, armado and sábalo. Evaluación del rendimiento pesquero potencial de la República Argentina: III. Edad y crecimiento de peces 1

Age and growth of populations of three fish species from sixteen lakes and reservoirs situated in the Patagonian Andean and the Patagonian Plateau Region (Argentina) were studied. They included two native species, the Patagonian smallmouth perch. (Percichthys trucha) and the Patagonian silverside (Patagonina hatcheri) and the introduced rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss). For the three species backcalculated lenght at age was obtained from scale readings. Von Bertalanffy growth curves were usually adjusted to data. For the three species, faster growth was related with lake productivity. (Document contains 38 pages.)

Al estudiar la ictiofauna de agua dulce, especialmente la correspondiente al Paraná inferior, he encontrado en las colecciones del Museo de La Plata un lote de 20 ejemplares de la localidad de San Pedro (provincia de Buenos Aires)pertenecientes a la especie Auchenipterus nuchalis (Spix). Porotergus ellisi. Una nueva subespecie de gimnótido de la Argentina (Pisces: Gymnotoidei).
