Comparison of model predictions and speed trial results for a group of 32' wooden trawlers

Speed trial results of six 32' wooden stern, trawlers built to the same design are analyzed to determine the EHP ship Froude number curves in each case and are compared with the model test results of the same design and for the corresponding, displacement, conditions.

Evolution of suitable trawl nets for medium size trawlers - 1: Comparative fishing efficiency between 32 m bulged belly, long wing and four panel trawls

Comparative studies of the efficiency of 32 m bulged belly, long wing and four panel trawls have shown that the bulged belly trawl to be superior to the other nets in catching bottom fishes and column fishes. 40% of the bottom fishes and 48% of the column fishes were caught by the bulged belly trawl. However, for prawn catch, the long wing trawl appears to be better as it landed 52% of the total prawn catch of the three nets. Bulged belly trawl was found to be next only to long wing trawl in this respect.

Inventors and entrepreneurs in academia: What types of skills and experience matter?

This paper aims to improve our understanding of the attributes of academic researchers that influence the capacity to contribute to technical advance, by adding to the pool of technological opportunities available to industry or engaging in the exploitation of entrepreneurial opportunities. We investigate a number of factors associated with the skills developed by academic researchers. We find that contributions to the pool of technological opportunities and exploitation of entrepreneurial opportunities involve different sets of skills and expertise of scientists. Our results show that the former is driven by academic scientists research excellence and discovery of earlier technological opportunities and the latter is driven by previous collaboration with industry partners, scientific breadth and experience of technological discovery. © 2011 Elsevier Ltd. Narrow-channel-spacing 32-channel arrayed-waveguide-grating multiplexer with an innovative alignment method

A 32-channel 50-GHz spaced arrayed-waveguide grating with our innovative configuration has been designed and fabricated. The performance of the device has been fully tested by using a tunable laser light source, optical power meter, and polarization controller. The insertion loss (IS) of the device is 4.2 similar to 7.4 dB. The crosstalk is about -28 clB. The IS uniformity is less than 3.2 dB. With our configuration, the performance of the device has been enhanced effectively and the difficulty in alignment process has been decreased obviously. 黄土旱塬长期施肥对小麦产量及养分平衡的影响

基于长期定位试验,研究不同肥料施用对小麦产量及养分平衡的影响。结果表明,合理施肥可以明显提高小麦的产量,增加小麦对养分的吸收量,同时达到培肥地力的效果。氮、磷配施增产效果显著,增幅为111.7%;在单施氮肥、单施磷肥的基础上施有机肥,分别比单施氮肥和单施磷增产32.7%、155.7%。氮、磷及有机肥配施时氮、磷、钾总吸收量均最多,分别增加303.5%、128.6%、238.8%。肥料单施,土壤中的部分养分会出现亏缺,单施氮肥,土壤中磷素亏损100%;单施磷肥,氮素亏损100%。肥料配施,氮素、磷素都出现不同程度的盈余。农业生产中该区要重视施用有机肥及肥料的合理配施。

顶部平坦化32通道AWG的设计与研制

根据优化输入端多模干涉器（MMI）结构设计，研制出32通道50GHz通道间隔、顶部平坦化的阵列波导光栅（AWG）器件。该器件的采用6μm×6μm折射率差为0．75％的Si基SiO2埋型波导结构，阵列波导数为130，罗兰圆半径为9419．72μm，相邻阵列波导长度差为128．42μm。测试结果表明
