Trabalho cooperativo como finalidade e estratégia de aprendizagem. Um estudo de caso em biologia humana

A aprendizagem cooperativa é concebida como uma estratégia pedagógica que privilegia uma aprendizagem personalizada e que potencia o sucesso educativo não só individual mas também coletivo. É conseguida através da cooperação de todos os membros do grupo, em que o desempenho de cada um influencia e é influenciado pelo desempenho do Outro. O grupo é concebido como uma organização social cuja eficiência implica a capacidade de construção e manutenção do grupo como um todo e de promoção do sucesso educativo de todos os elementos. É este quadro teórico que enforma a conceção, implementação e avaliação de uma intervenção pedagógica em Biologia Humana do 10º ano do Curso Tecnológico de Desporto. A estratégia pedagógica carateriza-se pela operacionalização articulada de estruturas e papéis de cooperação na abordagem da unidade didática - Transformação e Utilização de Energia - com a finalidade de promover a aprendizagem integrada de competências de cooperação e de conhecimento substantivo da área da Biologia. A avaliação da intervenção pedagógica incidiu nos objetivos de investigação - 1) Identificar o impacto da estratégia de intervenção pedagógica no desenvolvimento de competências de cooperação e 2) Identificar o impacto da estratégia de intervenção pedagógica no desenvolvimento de competências disciplinares –, efetuada a partir da análise de tarefas de aprendizagem e de um questionário de avaliação final global aplicado aos alunos. A estratégia de intervenção pedagógica é percecionada pelos alunos como tendo contribuído para a promoção do desenvolvimento não só de competências de cooperação mas também do conhecimento substantivo e do pensamento crítico.

O uso de Charges como instrumento para identificação de concepções individuais e representações sociais sobre a Dengue

A dengue é hoje uma das doenças com maior incidência no Brasil, com especial frequência no município de Fênix –Paraná. No presente estudo pretendeu-se analisar as concepções que as crianças têm sobre a dengue, identificando os componentes do modelo KVP, bem como conhecer as representações sociais deste grupo. Para o efeito optou-se pela utilização de charges com alunos do 5º ano do ensino fundamental de uma escola localizada no município de Fênix, cujos textos foram analisados para identificação de categorias e dos componentes do modelo KVP (conhecimentos, valores e práticas) a elas associadas. Foram identificadas quatro categorias de respostas sobre a interpretação da charge relativa à dengue: (i) prevenção da dengue, (ii) perigoso que pode levar à morte, (iii) problema de saúde pública e (iv) combater a dengue. Verificou-se que a “prevenção da dengue” foi a categoria em que se identificaram os três domínios K, V e P implicados na construção das concepções, enquanto as duas categorias “perigoso que pode levar à morte” e “problema de saúde pública” apresentaram apenas os domínios K e V, e a categoria “combater a dengue” apenas evidenciou o domínio V. Os resultados do estudo mostraram que os alunos já veem a dengue como um problema com consequências sérias e que todos têm sua responsabilidade no controle da doença. Percebe-se, portanto, que todo o trabalho que vem sendo realizado pela secretaria de saúde, pelas escolas ou campanhas publicitárias esta surtindo efeito, uma vez que no ano de 2014 houve uma redução do número de casos no município foco da pesquisa.

Educating for sociability and learning for citizenship: developing communicational skills and mediation in educational contexts

This text concerns a program about the Promotion of Social and Communicational Skills and Mediation (PSCSM) developed with children aged between 10 and 13 years in a non-formal educational institution. The program of intervention had, as its purpose, the promotion of social and communicational competencies and mediation, thus enabling the children involved to have a healthy and responsible sociability in the different contexts in which they find themselves: family, school, peer group, amongst others. It was developed over 13 sessions with objectives and activities intentionally planned with the view of promoting competencies of communication, co-operation, responsibility, a critical spirit, solidarity, autonomy, respect, integration, inclusion and the recognition of rights and duties. This work was carried out with an action-research methodology that resorted to various techniques and instruments to gather and record information. The results obtained showed the impact and benefits of the program and they also revealed the necessity of educational institutions investing in the promotion of an ethical literacy and the empowerment of the children and young people for healthy sociability and active citizenship.

Distribution of risk factors in parents and siblings of patients with early coronary artery disease

OBJECTIVE: Early coronary artery disease (CAD) is associated with risk factors (RF). Offspring of parents with a RF have a greater prevalence of them. However, the distribution of RF in parents and siblings of patients with early CAD is unknown. METHODS: The study comprised the parents and siblings of 42 patients with early CAD (< 45 years), 29 males. Their mean age was 39.5±3.7 years. The following major RF were analyzed: smoking (> 5 cigarretes/day), hypercholesterolemia (total cholesterol > 200 mg/dL), hypertension (diastolic blood pressure > 90 mmHg), and diabetes (glycemia > 126 mg/dL). RESULTS: Of a total of 102 RF, 4, 3, 2, and 1 were observed in, respectively, 5, 15, 15, and 7 patients with early CAD, the most prevalent being smoking (86%) and hypercholesterolemia (83%). Diabetes was observed in 15 (36%) and hypertension in 16 (38%) patients. Smoking was more prevalent in the fathers (76%) and hypercholesterolemia in the mothers (30%). In 183 siblings, 131 RF were observed (1 patient with the disease had a mean of 4.7 siblings). The prevalences of smoking, hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, and diabetes in the siblings were, respectively, 32%, 18%, 14%, and 9%. The incidence of RF was as follows: 72 (39%) siblings had 1 RF, 25 (14%) siblings had 2 RF, and 3 (2%) siblings had 3 RF. In parents and their offspring, smoking was moderately correlated (r=0.43; P=0.02) with CAD. CONCLUSION: Smoking habit of parents is passed on to offspring, and, in association with hypercholesterolemia, it was the major cause of early CAD in offspring. High prevalence of smoking in offspring shows the potential responsibility of parents in the incidence of the disease in offspring.

Impact of wind power generation on the electricity supply industry

The objective of this dissertation is to investigate the effect wind energy has on the Electricity Supply Industry in Ireland. Wind power generation is a source of renewable energy that is in abundant supply in Ireland and is fast becoming a resource that Ireland is depending on as a diverse and secure of supply of energy. However, wind is an intermittent resource and coupled with a variable demand, there are integration issues with balancing demand and supply effectively. To maintain a secure supply of electricity to customers, it is necessary that wind power has an operational reserve to ensure appropriate backup for situations where there is low wind but high demand. This dissertation examines the affect of this integration by comparing wind generation to that of conventional generation in the national grid. This is done to ascertain the cost benefits of wind power generation against a scenario with no wind generation. Then, the analysis examines to see if wind power can meet the pillars of sustainability. This entails looking at wind in a practical scenario to observe how it meets these pillars under the criteria of environmental responsibility, displacement of conventional fuel, cost competitiveness and security of supply.

Ultrasound Blocks for the Anterior Abdominal Wall - Adult and Pediatric Surgery

Somatic post-surgical pain is invalidating and distressing to patients and carries the risk of important complications. The anterior abdominal wall is involved in most surgical procedures in general, gynecologic, obstetric, urological, vascular and pediatric surgery. Combined multimodal strategies involving nerve blocks, opiates, and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs for systemic analgesia are necessary for optimal pain modulation. Anterior abdominal wall blocks, transverse abdominal plexus block, iliohypogastric and ilioinguinal nerveblock, genitofemoral nerve block and rectus sheath block have an important role as components of multimodal analgesia for somatic intraoperative and postoperative pain control. Ultrasound visualization has improved the efficacy and safety of abdominal blocks and implemented the application in the clinical setting. For this reason, they are a very important tool for all anesthesiologists who aim to treat effectively patients’ pain. This paper investigates experimentally how organisational decision processes affect the moral motivations of actors inside a firm that must forego profits to reduce harming a third party. In a "vertical" treatment, one insider unilaterally sets the harm-reduction strategy; the other can only accept or quit. In a "horizontal" treatment, the insiders decide by consensus. Our 2-by-2 design also controls for communication effects. In our data, communication makes vertical firms more ethical; voice appears to mitigate "responsibility-alleviation" in that subordinates with voice feel responsible for what their firms do. Vertical firms are then more ethical than the horizontal firms for which our bargaining data reveal a dynamic form of responsibility-alleviation and our chat data indicate a strong "insider-outsider" effect.

La Imatge fidel de les unions temporals d'empreses UTE

En l’article es fa una revisió actual de les unions temporals d’empreses (UTE), per tal de veure si la informació comptable que presenten és fidedigne. En primer lloc, es defineix la unió temporal d’empreses, i es detalla l’origen històric, les característiques i els objectius de l’UTE. Seguidament es presenta la regulació comptable i fiscal que afecta a les UTE, i es detalla el que pauta l’adaptació del Pla general comptable de les empreses constructores en relació amb les UTE i la problemàtica derivada de les operacions en empreses d’aquest sector que tantes UTE realitzen. També es ressalta en l’article la responsabilitat de l’UTE i les Normes comptables internacionals relacionades amb les UTE. Finalment es presenten els resultats d’una anàlisi d’estats financers de trenta empreses constructores que habitualment realitzen UTE, per comprovar el seguiment que fan de l’adaptació sectorial del Pla general comptable de les empreses constructores i la informació que donen de les UTE. L’última part de l’article fa referència a les conclusions, i és en aquesta part on s’apunta que la informació comptable de les UTE ha de millorar notablement, ja que actualment és una informació poc transparent, insuficient i dispersa.

Ràdio participativa amb difusió per Internet

Aquesta memòria reuneix una explicació del treball que s'ha dut a terme per a desenvolupar el projecte final de carrera. Aquest tracta d'implementar una ràdio musical que s'emet per Internet però amb la característica d'ésser una ràdio que decideixi la programació musical en funció de la seva audiència. Per a realitzar això es distingiran dos tipus d'usuaris: els oients i els gestors de la ràdio musical. El gestors de la ràdio tindran la responsabilitat d'alimentar de música la ràdio, etiquetar i classificar aquesta música perquè la ràdio estableixi criteris de similitud entre cançons. Els oients seran responsables d'opinar sobre les cançons que emet la ràdio, si els agrada o desagrada, per guiar la ràdio cap al gust musical del propi oient. La complexitat està en què no es tracta d'una ràdio musical amb un sol oient sinó que hi ha diferents oients i s'haurà de saber gestionar correctament els gustos dispersos dels oients. En el present document recullim tots els treballs realitzats, l'anàlisis formal del problema, l'explicació de la solució proposada i com hem realitzat aquesta solució.

El Sistema de financiación de las comunidades autónomas de régimen común: un análisis crítico y algunas propuestas de reforma

We identify a number of elements of the current Spanish system of regional financing that do not conform satisfactorily to the principles of equity, autonomy and efficiency that should inspire its design. Our main conclusion is that although the system presents a series of shortcomings that would require an in-depth reform, its basic focus on the equalization of the service provision capacity of all regional governments should be preserved because it is in accordance with the constitutional guarantee of equal rights for all citizens and with notions of horizontal equity that are widely shared in our country. In fact, the main shortcoming of the system is, in our opinion, that it does not fully guarantee such equality in practice. Additional weaknesses of the system are its lack of transparency, the absence of mechanisms to maintain vertical equilibrium across the different levels of the administration and a significant deficit of fiscal autonomy and responsibility on the pa
