The magnetostatic relations including fluctuation fields

The influences of the fluctuation fields are important in many astrophysical environments as shown by the observations, and can not be neglected. On the basis of the first-order smoothing approximation, in the present paper, we demonstrate the magnetostatic equations for both the cases of the conventional turbulence aud the random waves, and discuss the consistent conditions of the equations. In the static problem, the fluctuation Lorentz force(▽×δB)×δB influences the large-scale configurations of magnetic field. To study this influence in detail is quite necessary for the explanations of the observation features, especially for the astrophysical environments where the magnetic fields, including the fluctuation fields, are the dominant factors in the equilibrium of momentum and energy.

‘Relations veritables et curieuses de l'Isle de Madagascar, et du Bresil’, de responsabilidade do livreiro Augustin Courbé, foi redigida em parte por Morisot, de DiJon, com base em documentos fornecidos pelos irmãos Dupuy. A obra, composta por dois volumes reunidos em um tomo, contém diversos relatos. Muita confusão existe acerca dessa edição de Courbé, seja relativamente ao número de volumes da obra, seja quanto à autoria dos relatos. Borba de Moraes a firma que "esses erros decorrem da raridade do trabalho completo". O primeiro volume, apresentado sob o titulo geral ‘Relations veritables et curieuses de l’Isle de Madagascar, et du Bresil’, contém os trabalhos ‘Relation du voyage de François Couché...: De la religion, moeurs, et façons de faire de ceux de I'Lsle de Madagascar: colloque entre le madagascarois et le françois...’, e ‘Re1ation du voyage de Roulox Baro’. O segundo volume é intitulado ‘Histoire des derniers troubles du Bresil entre les hollandois et les portugais’ e foi escrito por Pierre Moreau, cujo texto ocupa as 212 páginas iniciais. Além deste, constam do volume ‘Trois relations d'Egypte et autres memoires...’ e a ‘Relation d'um voyage de Perse’. Prod uzida a partir da observação dos fatos ocorridos durante o período de sua permanência em Pernambuco durante a ocupação pelos holandeses, a obra de Moreau é de capital importância para o estudo da situação socioeconômica de Pernambuco sob o domínio holandês. A edição de A. Courbé, conhecido livreiro que se estabeleceu em Paris de 1629 a 1660, teve o projeto das ilustrações a cargo de Jean Picard, oriundo de uma famosa família de gravadores, cujo nome aparece no primeiro volume apenas, segundo Borba de Moraes

On a Class of Self-Adjoint Compact Operators in Hilbert Spaces and Their Relations with Their Finite-Range Truncations

This paper investigates a class of self-adjoint compact operators in Hilbert spaces related to their truncated versions with finite-dimensional ranges. The comparisons are established in terms of worst-case norm errors of the composite operators generated from iterated computations. Some boundedness properties of the worst-case norms of the errors in their respective fixed points in which they exist are also given. The iterated sequences are expanded in separable Hilbert spaces through the use of numerable orthonormal bases.

Smooth sets for borel equivalence relations and the covering property for σ-ideals of compact sets

This thesis is divided into three chapters. In the first chapter we study the smooth sets with respect to a Borel equivalence realtion E on a Polish space X. The collection of smooth sets forms σ-ideal. We think of smooth sets as analogs of countable sets and we show that an analog of the perfect set theorem for Σ¹₁ sets holds in the context of smooth sets. We also show that the collection of Σ¹₁ smooth sets is ∏¹₁ on the codes. The analogs of thin sets are called sparse sets. We prove that there is a largest ∏¹₁ sparse set and we give a characterization of it. We show that in L there is a ∏¹₁ sparse set which is not smooth. These results are analogs of the results known for the ideal of countable sets, but it remains open to determine if large cardinal axioms imply that ∏¹₁ sparse sets are smooth. Some more specific results are proved for the case of a countable Borel equivalence relation. We also study I(E), the σ-ideal of closed E-smooth sets. Among other things we prove that E is smooth iff I(E) is Borel.

In chapter 2 we study σ-ideals of compact sets. We are interested in the relationship between some descriptive set theoretic properties like thinness, strong calibration and the covering property. We also study products of σ-ideals from the same point of view. In chapter 3 we show that if a σ-ideal I has the covering property (which is an abstract version of the perfect set theorem for Σ¹₁ sets), then there is a largest ∏¹₁ set in I^int (i.e., every closed subset of it is in I). For σ-ideals on 2^ω we present a characterization of this set in a similar way as for C₁, the largest thin ∏¹₁ set. As a corollary we get that if there are only countable many reals in L, then the covering property holds for Σ¹₂ sets.

Feeding of Gammarus lacustris Sars under different conditions of habitation [Translation from: [Trophic relations of freshwater invertebrates.] (ed. G. G. Vinberg) pp.94-98. Leningrad, Zool.Inst.AN SSSR, 1980]

The amphipod Gammarus lacustris, a regular representative of lacustrine communities, often plays a significant role in the transformation of matter and energy. The object of the present work was to clarify the quantitative side of the feeding of the amphipod under different conditions of habitation. Experimental works on determination of the rate of consumption of food and its dependence on body-weight were carried out in the summer periods 1975-1978 on three water-bodies of the Krasnoyarsk region, of different conditions of habitation for the amphipods.

Diasporization and family relations in Nella Larsens Quicksand and Jamaica Kincaids Lucy: the construction of female identity

O principal objetivo desta dissertação é investigar e analisar como os movimentos diaspóricos e as relações familiares exercem influência na construção das identidades das mulheres em Quicksand, de Nella Larsen, e Lucy, de Jamaica Kincaid. As questões a que pretendo responder são: Como as personagens principais, Helga Crane e Lucy, lidam com as diferentes culturas que encontram nas suas trajetórias ? ; Como essas diferentes culturas lidam com essas mesmas personagens?; e Como o encontro entre essas diferentes culturas e as relações familiares são descritos e influenciam na construção da identidade feminina nessas obras?. Minha hipótese é que encontraremos nas obras selecionadas duas jornadas, portadoras tanto de aspectos comuns quanto distintos, que começam com o desejo das personagens principais de escapar da opressão patriarcal. Isto é, Helga Crane e Lucy passam por um período de muitas descobertas sobre elas mesmas e as sociedades com que têm que lidar, o que determina dois produtos diferentes: a construção das identidades híbridas de Lucy, em meio a sua solidão, na obra de Kincaid, e a construção e o sufocamento das identidades de Helga pela religião, o patriarcado e as relações familiares, na obra de Larsen

Relations longueur-poids de 43 espèces de poissons capturées dans les lagunes ivoiriennes

Since 1974 we have been collecting statistics on the main fishing gears in the ivorian lagoons. In order to get good estimation of the catches, it is often more convenient to measure the fishes and to convert this data into weights through a length-weight relationship. In this work we computed this relation for 43 species found in the Aby and Ebrié lagoons.

Biologie de Penaeus duorarum en Côte d'Ivoire. 3. Étude des variations quotidiennes des rendements et leur relations avec l'hydroclimat. Essai de généralisation au Golfe de Guinée

Hydroclimatic conditions in the Gulf of Guinea between Senegal and Nigeria are briefly described emphasizing the seasonal variations of transparency. Analysis of the Abidjan based shrimp fleet allowed to the description of the seasonal variations of activity rhythms for Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana, and Nigeria. These rhythms are different between seasons, between fishing grounds, and sometimes even between depths on a given ground. These variations follow the turbidity ones. Diurnal activity is observed in very turbid waters, nocturnal and transition activity in clearer ones. The authors assume that the basic behaviour is a nocturnal one, but that the shrimp-trawlers catches reflect some apparently different ones resulting from diel variations in the stock availability. To explain the apparently diurnal behaviour observed most of the year over the whole Gulf of Guinea it is suggested that these generally benthic shrimps become nectonic at night when turbidity is very high. The results obtained in Ivory Coast, Ghana and Nigeria are compared to those from Senegal where hydroclimatic conditions are different. The similarities are emphasized. The differences in observed behaviour are supposedly caused by the cold season water temps which are sufficiently low to disturb the nor mal activity rhythm.

Choix d'une unité d'effort de pêche pour les flottilles sardinières sémi-industrielles et artisanales au Sénégal

Different catches per unit of effort available for industrial and artisanal sardinella fisheries of Senegal have been analysed and compared in order to determine whether they are acceptable indices of abundance. Among the four units of fishing effort studied (total number of sets, number of trips, time spent on fishing ground, searching time), the first and the second seem inadequate in the studied fleets. The two other units, particularly the searching time, allow the calculation of catches per unit of effort which best reflect variations in abundance, although they are not completely free of usual deficiencies.
