The report provides an account of the activities carried out by the Lake Kariba Fisheries Research Institute during the year 1994 under the following headings: Institute finances; Staffing and staff training; Staff housing; Infrastructure and institute expansion; Vehicles and vessels; and, Fisheries and fishery management. Individual reports regarding the various project activities conducted during the year are also included.

Annual report 1995

An account is given of the activities of the Institute during the year 1995, including also reports of various projects carried out by staff members, which concerned the following: pre-recruitment ecology of the freshwater sardine (Limnothrissa miodon) in Lake Kariba (Zimbabwe); hydroacoustic surveys of kapenta abundance in Lake Kariba and Lake Cahora Bassa (Mozambique); angler's tigerfish catches, tigerfish studies and gillnet sampling; inshore fish population studies in Lake Kariba; catch/effort data recording system; fishermen's training towards the establishment of a Fisheries Co-management approach on Lake Kariba; and, enforcement and compliance with fisheries regulations within the inshore fishery on Lake Kariba.

The report provides an account of the activities of the Lake Kariba Fisheries Research Institute of Zimbabwe during the period July 1997 to December 1998. 1979 Fisheries statistics - Kariba

Fishery statistics for 1979 are presented for: (1) total production; (2) effort; (3) landings and purchases; (4) monthly percentage composition and average weight of each species caught in gill-nets.

1980 Fisheries statistics - Kariba

The 1980 statistics of the open-water sardine (Limnothrissa miodon ) fisheries and gill-net fisheries are presented. Summaries of total production and total effort, landings inshore and gill-net fisheries are also presented.

1981 fisheries statistics, Lake Kariba - Zimbabwe waters

The 1981 statistics of the open water fishery (sardine, Limnothrissa miodon , and tigerfish, Hydrocynus vittatus) and inshore fishery (cichlids, labeoa, mainly L. altivelis , distichoclids, mainly Distichodus schenga , tigerfish, H. vittatus , mormyrids, mainly Mormyrus longirostris and M. deliciosus , and catfish, Clarias gariepinus) in Lake Kariba are presented.

Catch and effort data are given for the various pelagic and inshore fisheries of the Zimbabwe side of Lake Kariba for the period 1980-85.
