Printed Commissioner's Office receipt form acknowledging the disbursement of money to Caleb Gannett from Nathaniel Appleton, Commissioner of Loans in the State of Massachusetts, for interest on stock in the funds of the United States. The receipt, No. 484, is signed by Gannett and dated February 2, 1792.

Letter from Fisher Ames to Samuel Shuttleworth, 1792 July 21

Two folio-sized pages containing a three-page handwritten letter from Fisher Ames in Springfield, Mass. to his brother-in-law, Samuel Shuttleworth. The letter discusses Ames's marriage to Frances Worthington on July 15, 1792. The letter is torn.

Collection of Harvard College bills sent to George Wingate, 1792-1796

This collection of bills, sent to George Wingate while he was an undergraduate at Harvard College from 1792 to 1796, includes quarter bills, butler's bills, and bills and receipts of payment from two women, Mary Hilliard and Mary Kidder, who provided Wingate room and board ("board and chamber"). The butlers bills were created by the two men who held that position during Wingate's time as a student, John Pipon and Timothy Alden. Caleb Gannett was the steward the entire time, and thus creator of all the quarter bills. Some of the bills indicate charges for sizings and fines for punishments, and a bill from Mary Hilliard indicates that Wingate purchased candles, blank books and sheets of paper from her.

Notebook of Moses Appleton, 1794-1837 (inclusive)

Contains notes taken by Moses Appleton (1773-1849) on anatomy lectures delivered at Harvard by John Warren (1753-1815). Other lecture topics included midwifery and surgery. Also includes a transcript of an examination given by Warren to his students on anatomy and surgery, as well as exams given by Harvard Professor Benjamin Waterhouse (1754-1846) and Harvard Professor Aaron Dexter (1750-1829) on the theory and practice of physic, and chemistry, respectively. There are additionally patient case notes and transcriptions of notes and correspondence from physicians Appleton consulted, and a list of operations Appleton performed between 1796 and 1828, primarily repairing dislocated joints and fractured bones. Also includes obituaries of citizens of Waterville, Maine, from 1807 to 1837.

Account books of Sylvester Woodbridge, 1792-1826 (inclusive)

Consists of seven account books kept by Dr. Sylvester Woodbridge (1754-1824) from 1792 until his death containing entries that record charges for medical visits and administration of medicines, and sales of sundry and grocery items, as well as occasional personal notes and the names of Woodbridge's apprentices and their participation in his Southampton, Massachusetts, medical practice. Woodbridge's methods of treatment were typical for the era: he most commonly prescribed vomits and purgatives for patients. Volume 6 contains loose pages and letterbooks tucked in related to accounting and to the amount and type of wood Woodbridge was buying for his house, and papers dated after his death.
