La selecció del fons documental a la biblioteca escolar: com, qui i per què triar els llibres per a infants

L’infant ha de tenir l’oportunitat d’estar envoltat per una col·lecció de llibres que el permeti escollir les lectures que necessita a cada moment. L’escola, concretament la biblioteca escolar, ha de possibilitar aquesta trobada mitjançant un fons documental seleccionat a partir de les necessitats i els interessos d’infants i mestres. El present treball pretén recollir algunes recomanacions bàsiques per a la selecció de documents a la biblioteca escolar en un marc teòric inicial. En la segona part del projecte, s’intenta analitzar com es porta a la pràctica aquest procés en el nostre territori a partir de l’anàlisi de tres realitats concretes: la biblioteca escolar, la biblioteca pública i el Seminari de Bibliografia Infantil i Juvenil de l’Associació de Mestres Rosa Sensat.

LC-MS method development and comparison of sampling materials for the analysis of organic gunshot residues

This study aimed at comparing the efficiency of various sampling materials for the collection and subsequent analysis of organic gunshot residues (OGSR). To the best of our knowledge, it is the first time that sampling devices were investigated in detail for further quantitation of OGSR by LC-MS. Seven sampling materials, namely two "swab"-type and five "stub"-type collection materials, were tested. The investigation started with the development of a simple and robust LC-MS method able to separate and quantify molecules typically found in gunpowders, such as diphenylamine or ethylcentralite. The evaluation of sampling materials was then systematically carried out by first analysing blank extracts of the materials to check for potential interferences and determining matrix effects. Based on these results, the best four materials, namely cotton buds, polyester swabs, a tape from 3M and PTFE were compared in terms of collection efficiency during shooting experiments using a set of 9 mm Luger ammunition. It was found that the tape was capable of recovering the highest amounts of OGSR. As tape-lifting is the technique currently used in routine for inorganic GSR, OGSR analysis might be implemented without modifying IGSR sampling and analysis procedure.

Ostwald ripening in porous materials

The process of coarsening of an ensemble of clusters is investigated for the case that elastic strains due to matrix - cluster interactions change the process qualitatively as compared with dependencies established theoretically first by Lifshitz and Slezov. Such a qualitatively different behavior occurs always when the energy of elastic deformation in cluster growth increases more rapidly than linear with the volume of a cluster. Analytic solutions, for limiting cases, as well as numerical solutions, for the general case of coarsening in an ensemble of pores with a given pore size distribution, are presented. Possible applications are discussed.

Origin of magnetic and magnetoelastic tweedlike precursor modulations in ferroic materials

Based on experimental observations of modulated magnetic patterns in a Co0.5Ni0.205Ga0.295 alloy, we propose a model to describe a (purely) magnetic tweed and a magnetoelastic tweed. The former arises above the Curie (or Nel) temperature due to magnetic disorder. The latter results from compositional fluctuations coupling to strain and then to magnetism through the magnetoelastic interaction above the structural transition temperature. We discuss the origin of purely magnetic and magnetoelastic precursor modulations and their experimental thermodynamic signatures.

Importance of the embedding environment on the strain within small rings in siliceous materials

The effect of the local environment on the energetic strain within small (SiO)N rings (with N=2,3) in silica materials is investigated via periodic model systems employing density functional calculations. Through comparison of the energies of various nonterminated systems containing small rings in strained and relatively unstrained environments, with alpha quartz, we demonstrate how small ring strain is affected by the nature of the embedding environment. We compare our findings with numerous previously reported calculations, often predicting significantly different small-ring strain energies, leading to a critical assessment of methods of calculating accurate localized ring energies. The results have relevance for estimates of the strain-induced response (e.g., chemical, photo, and radio) of small silica rings, and the propensity for them to form in bulk glasses, thin films, and nanoclusters.

L’obra de Guillaume de Machaut en el Manuscrit Mòdena, Biblioteca Estense, a.M.5.24

Entre finals del segle XIV i principis del XV es data la redacció del Manuscrit Mòdena, Biblioteca Estense, .M.5.24, un dels principals manuscrits del moment que han arribat als nostres dies, essent un element culminant pel que fa a penetració de l’art polifònic francès a la Itàlia d’inicis del ‘400. En ell es copien quatre peces de Guillaume de Machaut i l’únic poema de l’autor francès musicat per un altre compositor. En els treballs sobre el manuscrit molt sovint s’obvien aquestes quatre peces, i l’estudi sobre Machaut es fa quasi exclusivament des de les fonts franceses. Aquest treball pretén respondre, sobretot, a dues preguntes: Què ens poden explicar aquestes peces sobre el procés d’afrancesament de la música italiana? Què ens poden explicar sobre la difusió de l’obra de Machaut pel vell continent?

CRAI Biblioteca de Medicina (Campus Clínic) de la UB. del siglo XX al siglo XXI

En respuesta al reto que supone el Espacio Europeo de Educación Superior (EEES), las bibliotecas universitarias deben adaptarse al modelo de un Centro de Recursos para el Aprendizaje y la Investigación (CRAI). En el caso del CRAI Biblioteca de Medicina de la Universidad de Barcelona se hace énfasis en los espacios, la difusión y el fondo bibliográfico.

Exposición bibliográfica americanista: selección de los fondos de la Biblioteca Universitaria de Barcelona

La presente exposición no pretende ofrecer un conjunto, como colección de rarezas ni un material que cubra bibliograficamente un tema o período; se limita o presentar una simple muestra de los fondos americanistas antiguos que posee uno biblioteca universitaria, en este caso la de nuestra Universidad de Barcelona. La labor desarrollada por los focultativos de esta biblioteca, Sras. Rubio y Torroja, al seleccionar el material, según las pautas dadas por su director y la osesoría de lo Cátedra de Historio de América, cumplen el propósito que señalamos.

Evaluación de la Conservación de la Colección Sabater Pi en la Biblioteca de la Universitat de Barcelona

El objetivo de la evaluación de la Colección Sabater Pi, deriva del hecho de que este fondo se encuentre depositado en estos momento en el edificio de la Biblioteca de Bellas Artes, ocupando dos salas y un pequeño almacén, compartiendo un espacio que consideramos no es el más adecuado para una conservación ideal: entorno urbano, enclave, situación, espacio, almacenaje, clasificación, etc. La colección está dividida en varias tipologías: libros, dibujos, manuscritos, revistas, fotografías, diapositivas, videos, objetos etnológico, objetos de zoología, todas ellas reunidas en un espacio que consideramos no cumplen las normas establecidas para la exposición o exhibición y el almacenaje ideal de los fondos. Abría que añadir el hecho de que este mismo lugar se llevan a cabo tareas de clasificación, administración y consulta de los fondos por investigadores. También acoge de vez en cuando vistas guiadas de grupos de escolares, atraídos por el hecho de que el fundador de esta colección, el Sr. Jordi Sabater Pi, fuese el descubridor del gorila albino, “Copito de Nieve” que durante muchos años fue considerado como un icono de la ciudad de Barcelona. El interés radicaría el estar formado por un conjunto diverso, guardado en un espacio común y en unas condiciones poco apropiadas. Debido a que recientemente se han presentado algunos problemas en los fondos en cuanto a su conservación, consideramos la ocasión muy propicia para realizar esta Evaluación del Estado de Conservación aplicado a un caso real y en este momento de especial interés.
