The subfamily Rogenhoferinae stat. nov. (Diptera, Cuterebridae) is revised. Two genera are recognized: Rogenhofera Brauer (Type-species, trigonophora Brauer) and Andinocutereba Guimarães (Type-species, fassleri Guimarães). Five species are recorded in Rogenhofera, one R. lopesi is described as new. Key to species, illustrations and distribution are presented.

The distribution of larvae of Simulium goeldii was studies in four streams in upland tropical forest near Manaus, Amazonas, Brazil. In each month 32 points were sampled, each with an area of 30 x 50 cm. The areas of all substrates available were measured at each point. The larvae of S. goeldii were collected and later counted for all substrate types where larvae of this species were found. The available substrates were classified into eight types: dry leaves, green leaves, branches, fruits, detritus, rocks and sand; anly the first four types had larvae present. The Kruskal-Wallis test and analysis of variance indicated that the larvae occupy these substrates differently; the Newman-Keuls identified the following differences in intensity of occupation of the susbstrates: branchs differ from roots, dry leaves and green leaves, and green leaves differ from roots and dry leaves. The highest density of larvae was observed on green leaves. However, because the most abundant substrates in the study area were roots and dry leaves, I suggest that the latter two substrates are the most important ones for the esteblishment of this population of S. goeldii.

Two new species of the calliphorid blow flies are described from Papua New Guinea under the names of Euphumosia lopesi and E. robertsi. Body coloration and mesonotal pattern are characteristic and differ from those of the closely allied species, E. evittata Togerson & James, 1967.

This work deals with two genera of Limnophorinae. Heliographa longiseta sp. n., and female genitalia of the Heliographa altaneira Albuquerque, 1954, and genital complex of the Spilogona golbachi Snyder, 1957 are studied. New occurrence for Spilogona argentifrontata and Spilogona pubiceps (Stein, 1911) are stated.

It is establish the dissemination enteroparasite by Calliphoridae in a district situated around by Federal Capital of Argentina. The species implicated in this dispersal are: Phaenicia sericata (meigen, 1826); Calliphora vicina Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830; Chrysomya chloropyga (Wiedemann, 1818) and Phaenicia eximia (Wiedemann, 1819). Fifty two flies was studies, thirty four (65%) to belong at the family Calliphoridae. Of this thirteen (38%) have eggs of taeniid and cysts of Entamoeba coli (Grassi, 1879) and Giardia lamblia Styles, 1915.

It is shown that Ctenostylidae Bigot (1882) is a valid senior synonym of Lochmostylidae Hendel (1935). The morphology of the Ctenostylidae is considered and compared with the Pyrgotidae. It is concluded that the Ctenostylidae are not closely related to the Pyrgotidae, but form an isolated taxon of obscure relationship. Notes on a speciment of Ctenostylum sp. and a revised key to genera of Ctenostylidae are given.

In this paper we describe a new species of a non-biting midge of the genus Aedokritus Roback, 1958 (Chironominae, Chironomidae) from Brazil and Bolívia. That is the fifth species of this genus. The other species of the genus are: A. penicilligerus (Edwards, 1931), from Argentina and Peru; A. pruinescens (Edwards, 1931), from Argentina; A. platycnemis (Edwards, 1931), from Argentina; and A. sartis Roback, 1960, from Brazil.
