The title of the study is ''Toxicology Literature: An Informetric Analysis".In the field of Toxicology, the interdisciplinary research resulted in 'information fragmentation' of the basic subject to environmental, medical and economic toxicology. The interest in collaborative research resulted in the transdisciplinary growth of Toxicology which ultimately resulted in the scatter of literature.For the purpose of present study Toxicology is defined as the physical and chemical aspects of all poisons affecting environmental, economical and medical aspects of human life. Informetrics is "the use and development of a variety of measures to study and analyse several properties of information in general and documents in particular."The present study fled light on the main fields of Toxicology research as well as the important primary journals through which the results are being published. The authorshippattern, subject-wise scatter, country-wise, language-wise and growth pattern, self-citation, bibliographic coupling of the journals were studied. The study will be of great use in forrnulatinq the acquisition policy of documents in a library. The present study is useful in identifying obsolate journals so that they can be discarded from the collection

Ethnic/Minority entrepreneur is a business owner who does not represent the majority population of a country. Ethnic/Minority entrepreneurship can bring benefits to individual, society, region, economy, and globe too. So, understanding the importance of ethnic/minority entrepreneurship will really be useful to all the stakeholders. The unique culture and value system of ethnic minorities are the most wanted characteristics for any successful entrepreneur in general. Many industrial nations like U.S, U.K., Germany, etc. have utilised the ethnic minorities to build their economy. The future of the minority businesses looks bright as the world economy is booming, availability of experienced and already successful minority entrepreneurs as role models, and institutional support services. In this paper, literature relating to the benefits of ethnic and minority entrepreneurship is reviewed to understand its magnitude of benefits.

SHGs and Cooperatives in the Fishing Sector: An Inclusive Development Option for the Fisher folk of Kerala

The Kerala model of development mostly bypassed the fishing community, as the fishers form the main miserable groups with respect to many of the socio-economic and quality of life indicators. Modernization drive in the fishing sector paradoxically turns to marginalization drives as far as the traditional fishers in Kerala are concerned. Subsequent management and resource recuperation drives too seemed to be detrimental to the local fishing community. Though SHGs and cooperatives had helped in overcoming many of the maladies in most of the sectors in Kerala in terms of livelihood and employment in the 1980s, the fishing sector by that time had been moving ahead with mechanization and export euphoria and hence it bypassed the fishing sector. Though it has not helped the fishing sector in the initial stages, but because of necessity, it soon has become a vibrant livelihood and employment force in the coastal economy of Kerala. Initial success made it to link this with the governmental cooperative set up and soon SHGs and Cooperatives become reinforcing forces for the inclusive development of the real fishers.The fisheries sector in Kerala has undergone drastic changes with the advent of globalised economy. The traditional fisher folk are one of the most marginalized communities in the state and are left out of the overall development process mainly due to the marginalization of this community both in the sea and in the market due to modernization and mechanization of the sector. Mechanization opened up the sector a great deal as it began to attract people belonging to non-fishing community as moneylenders, boat owners, employers and middle men which often resulted in conflicts between traditional and mechanized fishermen. These factors, together with resource depletion resulted in the backwardness experienced by the traditional fishermen compared to other communities who were reaping the benefits of the overall development scenario.The studies detailing the activities and achievements of fisher folks via Self Help Groups (SHGs) and the cooperative movement in coastal Kerala are scant. The SHGs through cooperatives have been effective in livelihood security, poverty alleviation and inclusive development of the fisher folk (Rajasenan and Rajeev, 2012). The SHGs have a greater role to play as estimated fall in demand for marine products in international markets, which may result in reduction of employment opportunities in fish processing, peeling, etc. Also, technological advancement has made them unskilled to work in this sector making them outliers in the overall development process resulting in poor quality of physical and social infrastructure. Evaluación del polimorfismo en el codón 129 del gen PRNP: estudio piloto

Las enfermedades causadas por priones, llamadas encefalopatías espongiformes transmisibles, son el producto de la conversión espontánea de la proteína celular PrPC inofensiva en su forma patógena, la PrPSc. Todavía se desconoce cómo se lleva a cabo esta conversión, aunque se conocen mutaciones que pueden inducirla debido a la interacción con las partículas priónicas. También se han reportado polimorfismos que aumentan la susceptibilidad al desarrollo de este tipo de enfermedades, entre ellos, el M129V en el gen PRNP, el cual se asocia con el aumento de la susceptibilidad cuando el incluye el genotipo homocigoto para metionina. De acuerdo con lo anterior, el objetivo de este estudio fue analizar la distribución del polimorfismo M129V en la población colombiana y compararla con algunas poblaciones reportadas previamente en la literatura. El fragmento que alberga la variante M129V fue amplificado por PCR, en 202 individuos colombianos, no relacionados, de ambos géneros, y se llevó a cabo análisis por RFLPs mediante el uso de la enzima de restricción NspI. Las frecuencias génicas y genotípicas y el ajuste al equilibrio de Hardy-Weinberg fueron calculadas utilizando el software GENEPOP. Al no encontrarse estudios en la población colombiana en cuanto a la distribución del polimorfismo de estudio, es necesario realizar trabajos que determinen el riesgo de la población colombiana a desarrollar enfermedades causadas por priones.
