La época de los militares : Representaciones, categorías y clasificaciones de ex-obreros de Swift en torno a la violencia política y estatal

En este artículo abordo los modos en que los ex-obreros del frigorífico Swift de Berisso, evocan los acontecimientos más resonantes de la violencia política, paraestatal y estatal en la década de 1970, ligados a la fábrica. Para ello analizo los relatos, construidos con entrevistas en profundidad, de los ex-obreros que en aquellos años fueron militantes de izquierda y de otros con diversas orientaciones políticas y actitudes frente a la organización gremial. Por un lado, exploro las huellas del disciplinamiento social en las vivencias narradas y el desdibujamiento de su significación en algunos casos. Por otro lado, doy cuenta de la heterogeneidad de sentidos atribuidos a dos expresiones nativas que estructuran los relatos y aluden a dos agrupamientos sociales: los que estaban metidos en algo y lo que no estaban metidos en nada. Muestro el carácter difuso de la frontera entre ambos grupos y algunas valoraciones en torno a la igualación de violencias

"Sino el espanto" : Temas, prácticas y alianzas de los anticomunismos de derecha en Argentina entre 1955 y 1966

Este artículo se concentra en la vida política de algunas organizaciones anticomunistas de derecha en Argentina entre 1955 y 1966: se intenta poner de manifiesto la pluralidad de tradiciones anticomunistas presentes en el país, así como algunas de las diferentes vinculaciones internacionales de las que participaban. A partir de la consulta a fuentes periodísticas, oficiales y de la inteligencia policial, se reunió información para reconstruir las posturas ideológicas, las lecturas sobre los problemas sociales y culturales argentinos y algunas de las actividades políticas lideradas (o acompañadas) por diversos actores anticomunistas. Este período se caracteriza por una súbita coronación del anticomunismo en los discursos políticos, al punto de desplazar o subsumir una preocupación sobre el peronismo, originariamente más relevante. El anticomunismo terminó convirtiéndose en una pieza clave en la articulación entre las distintas familias de derecha.

Se describen y analizan las proximidades y distancias entre imaginarios poéticos y críticos del idioma español y de su historia (el de Juan Gelman y el de la crítica subalternista) vinculados a las vanguardias literarias de la izquierda latinoamericana, y las prácticas discursivas del zapatismo en cuyo interior, a su vez, se establecen diferencias entre las de procedencia indígena y las firmadas por el Subcomandante Marcos.

Publicaciones periódicas nacionalistas de derecha : Las tres etapas de Azul y Blanco [Azul y Blanco 1956-1960. Segunda República 1961-1963, Azul y Blanco -segunda época- 1966-1969]

El estudio del semanario Azul y Blanco [importante referente intelectual y político del nacionalismo de derecha] y el análisis de las dos generaciones de intelectuales nacionalistas que se hicieron cargo de su edición desde 1956 hasta 1969 condujeron a la descripción de un nacionalismo de derecha de un nuevo cuno. Este se vio influenciado principalmente por la proscripción del peronismo, la Revolución Cubana, la nacionalización de la nueva izquierda, la promulgación de la encíclica papal Populorum Progressio y las sucesivas políticas autoritarias y liberales de las presidencias de Aramburu, Frondizi y Onganía. Así, al igual que sucediera con otros actores políticos de la época, el nacionalismo que representaba este seminario vio reestructurada su identidad política a partir de un proceso de actualización de sus discursos y tradiciones a un contexto lingüístico cambiante. En este sentido, este nacionalismo de la década del sesenta se caracterizó por un acercamiento gradual y constante hacia los sectores populares, hacia la izquierda nacional y el peronismo. Azul y Blanco y las trayectorias intelectuales y políticas de su grupo son testigos de este proceso de transformación de adaptación del nacionalismo de derecha los nuevos lenguajes políticos

Se cree que la elección del género de la autoficción es una herramienta genérica que permite descubrir nuevas narrativas mnémicas en torno al enfrentamiento desigual entre Montoneros y las fuerzas represivas de la derecha. Estas novedosas maneras de ver el pasado se vinculan con lo que Ricoeur ha denominado 'trabajo de memoria', una elaboración terapéutica sobre el recuerdo que permite a un pueblo abrirse hacia la esperanza y el perdón

A política fundiária do governo Olívio Dutra no Rio Grande do Sul - Brasil (1999-2002): diretrizes, dinâmica política e resultados atingidos

This paper has as objective to analyze the foundry work politics made by the Olívio Dutra's government in the state of Rio Grande do Sul-Brazil, being taken into account their guidelines, the dynamics of the political struggle promoted between the social leaders from the rural area and the achieved global results. This government's freshness is related to the fact of it was being sustained and supported by a coalition of left wing parties and by a group of social movements and also by syndical entities of the field, which was decisive in the presentation of an antagonistic program to the neoliberal politics on energy in a national extent. Hence this government became committed in adopting an own foundry work politics, being opposed to the program of market land reform extolled by Cardoso's government, in national wide. Therefore, the results presented along the article demonstrate that in spite of the assumed commitments and, in face of legal, institutional and economical limitations and also its existent politics, the space of the state governments' performance can only be thought about its complemental character on the federal government's actions.

El Nacionalismo de derecha argentino a comienzos de la década del sesenta y la Revolución Cubana : Lecturas del semanario Azul y Blanco

Luego de la Revolución Cubana en 1959, el semanario nacionalista Azul y Blanco, dirigido por Marcelo Sánchez Sorondo, incluyó el análisis de la situación de la isla en sus artículos internacionales. Esto representó un cambio en sus páginas principalmente dedicadas al análisis de la política local argentina. Sin embargo, para el semanario, fundado en 1956 en oposición a las políticas radicalmente antiperonistas y dictatoriales del segundo gobierno de la "Revolución Libertadora", la incorporación de los vaivenes de la guerra fría en la región representó una estrategia para volver, a partir de la comparación, sobre la situación política nacional. De este modo, siempre desde su rol de opositor a la nueva gestión del presidente Arturo Frondizi y con su programa corporativista en mente, la publicación tomó la situación en la isla como excusa para advertir acerca de los peligros de la influencia soviética en la región y de las ideas comunistas en la clase obrera argentina

Preliminary ichthyolith biostratigraphy and age profiles at DSDP Sites 91-595 and 91-596

Seventy meters of Cenozoic and Mesozoic pelagic clay cored at DSDP Sites 595 and 596 provide the basis for a preliminary analysis of ichthyolith biostratigraphy in the southwest Pacific. A most likely order of the more reliable ichthyolith events is compared with a synthesis of ichthyolith biostratigraphy in the North Pacific and with dated composite ranges. The resultant preliminary ichthyolith stratigraphy suggests that the Cenozoic is represented by the upper 20 m at Site 596 and 16 to 22 m at Site 595. Mixing of taxa precludes a clear recognition of the Cretaceous/Tertiary boundary at Site 595. The occurrence of 13 newly described subtypes is recorded in Mesozoic sediments at Sites 595 and 596. These new subtypes and previously described Mesozoic forms may be useful for recognizing Mesozoic subdivisions when their occurrences in sequences dated by other microfossils are investigated.

Cretaceous-Tertiary ichthyoliths of brown clay intervals

The pattern of ichthyolith distribution established in sequences with stratigraphies based on calcareous or siliceous microfossils is used to provide age correlations for three deep-sea pelagic clay intervals that lack the better known microfossils. At Site 637, approximately 25 m of brown clay in Cores 103-637A-21R through 103-637A-23R underlies upper Miocene sediments and is of Paleocene to early Eocene age. At Site 639, 1.7 m of brown clay in Core 103-639C-2R is Eocene to Oligocene. At Site 640, 3.5 m of clay in Cores 103-640A-1R and 103-640A-2R contains a Cretaceous to Paleocene sequence, with the Cretaceous/Tertiary boundary between 84 and 103 cm in Section 103-640A-2R-1.

Biometrics, fatty acid composition and stable isotopic ratios of five seabird species from Kongsfjorden, Svalbard

Marine birds are important predators in the marine ecosystem, and dietary studies can give useful information about their feeding ecology, food webs and oceanographic variability. The aim of this study was to increase our understanding of the diet and trophic level of the seabirds breeding in Kongsfjorden, Svalbard. We have used fatty acids and stable isotopes, both of which integrate diet information over space and time, to determine trophic relationships in marine food webs. Fatty acid compositions of muscle from Little auk (Alle alle), Brünnich's guillemot (Uria lomvia), Black-legged kittiwake (Rissa tridactyla), Northern fulmar (Fulmarus glacialis) and Glaucous gull (Larus hyperboreus) were determined and compared with their prey species. Canonical analysis (CA) showed that fatty acid composition differed among the five seabird species. Little auk, Black-legged kittiwake and Northern fulmar had high levels of the Calanus markers 20:1n9 and 22:1, indicating that these seabirds are a part of the Calanus food chain. Brünnich's guillemot differed from the other species with much lower levels of 20:1n9 and 22:1. Brünnich's guillemot is a pursuit diver feeding on fish and amphipods deeper in the water column, below 30 m. Glaucous gull also differed from the other seabird species, with a larger variation in the fatty acid composition indicating a more diverse diet. Trophic level analysis placed Little auk at the lowest trophic level, Brünnich's guillemot and Black-legged kittiwake at intermediate levels and Glaucous gull and Northern fulmar at the highest trophic level.

XRF iron (Fe) counts of ODP Hole 171-1050A and 171-1051A

Upper Paleocene to lower Eocene sediments drilled at Ocean Drilling Program (ODP) Site 1051 (Blake Nose, off Florida) display well-defined orbital cycles, a detailed magnetic stratigraphy, and a suite of planktonic foraminiferal datums. We derived a cyclostratigraphy by using spectral analysis of high-resolution records of elemental concentrations obtained by an X-ray fluorescence (XRF) Core Scanner. XRF counts of iron serve as a proxy for the relative amount of terrestrial material. Sliding-window spectral analysis, bandpass filtering, and direct counting of precession and obliquity cycles yield minimum durations for magnetic polarity chrons C22 to C26 (~49 to ~61 Ma), calculations of sediment accumulation rates, as well as constraints on the timing of biostratigraphic and climatological events in the vicinity of the Initial Eocene Thermal Maximum (IETM). Durations of polarity chrons as represented in sediments drilled at Site 1051 were estimated using a conservative assignment of 41 k.y. for obliquity cycles and 21 k.y. for precession cycles. Combined polarity chrons C26r and C26n span 3.61 m.y., and chron C25r spans 1.07 m.y. Polarity chron C24r is estimated as 2.877 m.y. The interpretation of polarity chron C24n is ambiguous, but its duration is probably <1.23 m.y. Polarity chron C23r spans 0.53 m.y., chron C23n is 0.74 m.y., and chron C22r is 0.9 m.y. Spectral analysis through this interval indicates that spectral peaks shift through time and are related to changes in sedimentation rate in Site 1051. The sedimentation rates dramatically increased ~200 k.y. after the IETM and remained high for most of chron C24r.

Two pollen profiles of the middle Pleistocene at Samerberg/Upper Bavaria, Germany

Previous pollen analytical studies on sediments from the pleistocene lake basin at Samerberg, situated on the northern edge of the Bavarian Alps (47°45' N, 12°12' E, 607 m a.s.l.) had been performed on samples taken from cores and exposures close to the southern shore of the former lake. After geoelectric and refraction-seismic measurements had shown that the lake basin had been much deeper in its northern part, another core was taken where maximum depth could be expected. The corer penetrated three moraines, two of them lying above pollen-bearing sediments, and one below them, and reached the hard rock (Kössener Kalk) at a depth of 93 m. Two forest phases could be identified by pollen analysis. The pollen record begins abruptly in a forest phase at the end of a spruce-dominated period when fir started to spread (DA 1, DA = pollen zone). Following this, Abies (fir) was the main tree species at Samerberg, Picea being second, and deciduous trees were almost non-existent. First box (Buxus) was of major importance in the fir forests (DA 2), but later on beech (Fagus) and wing-nut (Pterocarya) spread (DA 3). Finally this forest gave way to a spruce forest with pine (DA 4). The beginning and the end of this interglacial cycle are not recorded. Its vegetational development is different from the eemian one known from earlier studies at Samerberg. It is characterized by the occurrence of Abies together with Buxus, Pterocarya and Fagus. A similar association of woody species is known only from the Holsteinian age deposits in an area ranging from England to Poland, though at no other place these species were such important constituents of the vegetation as at Samerberg. Therefore zone 1 to 4 are attributed to the Holsteinian interglacial period. The younger forest phase, separated from the interglacial by a stadial with open vegetation (DA 5), seems to be completely represented, though its sediments are disturbed, apparently by sliding which caused repetition of same-age-sediments in the core (DA 7a, b, c) The vegetational development is simple. A juniper phase (DA 6) was followed by reforestation with spruce, accompanied by some fir (DA 7, 9). Finally pine became the dominant species (DA 9). The simple vegetational development of this younger forest phase does not allow a safe correlation with one of the known pre-eemian interstadials, but for stratigraphical reasons it can be related best to the Dömnitz-interglacial, which among others is also known as Wacken- or Holstein-II-interglacial. Possibly another phase of reforestation is indicated at the end of the following stadial (DA 10). But due to an erosional unconformity nothing than the rise of the juniper curve can be stated. It was only after this sequence of forest phases and periods with open vegetation that glaciers reached the Samerberg area again.
