This study was carried out in Fazenda Canchim in Sao Carlos-SP, physical base of Embrapa Southeast Livestock, aiming to select, based on the agronomic characteristics of productivity of dry matter and quality of the forage, the accesses of suitable gender Paspalum for possessing potentiality of use as foraging plants. Were evaluated for 3 years, with 22 forage grasses, being 19 of Paspalum and three more of control species: Brachiaria decumbens, Andropogon gayanus cv. Baet and Panicum maximum cv. Tanzania, submitted to two intensification levels: high (fertilizer after each cut and supplemental irrigation) and low (only fertilizer of annual replacement without irrigation). The experimental design was of split blocks subdivided in the space and time with two replications. The studied variables were: dry matter production, in vitro dry matter digestibility and crude protein content. The results show that the accesses responded to the intensification level minimizing the negative effect of the stational production. Based on the studied variables, the selected accesses were: BRA-011401 (Paspalum glaucescens); BRA-011681 (P. atratum); BRA009661 (P. atratum) and BRA-019186 (P. regnellii).

This study aims to analyze the relationship between deforestation in the highlands of the São Francisco River Basin over the past 45 years due to agricultural activities and livestock , and the observed changes in the dynamics of the same river in the Pantanal of Mato Grosso , as sinuosity , discharge sediment , flow, points of erosion and morphological changes . It is observed that deforestation occurs in the plain and on the plateau , however with much more intensity in the latter, provided the extensive land use in the region . Thus, the study aims to contribute to a better understanding of the relationships between the uplands and flood plains . To achieve this goal will be used proper methods of geomorphological and geological sciences , with emphasis on the use of satellite imagery and hydrological data side . The research will include the following steps : I) literature review ; II) characterization geomorphological , geological , hydrological and climate , III) Dynamics of vegetation ; IV) Analysis of cause-effect relationships in the river system . Product analysis will suggest preventive measures to minimize the effects caused by the practices of use and occupation in the study area, as well as other regions suffer the same impacts

The region of the biome Cerrado is under threat due to the replacement of their native areas for expansion of agriculture and livestock. This occupation is responsible for the loss of about 50% of two million square kilometers of original native savannah. The land use, without control or zoning, has caused serious damage to natural resources of this biome, considered as an international hotspot area. As a result, some problems caused by ecological imbalances already topping the urban and rural environments, such as species extinction, water scarcity and desertification. Any occupation in this biome should be evaluated with caution, because this region, besides being considered one of the most productive of Brazil, is also rich in biodiversity and water resources. The understanding of the importance of the Cerrado biome and its remaining areas, allows the preparation of detailed studies of environmental valuation, which is essential for the development of conservation policies, avoiding even greater environmental impacts. To meet the growing demand for food, you can increase productivity through agroforestry, for example, and to preserve the remaining areas, you can create new protected areas and tailor existing units
