Les textes inédits traduits et présentés dans ce volume constituent un témoignage exceptionnel quant à l'évolution de la pensée de Carnap, l'un des fondateurs de la philosophie analytique. Des premières ébauches d'une construction logique du monde à l'analyse logique des propositions du langage, ils nous font en effet assister aux différents moments d'un programme philosophique inscrit dans le débat du physicalisme et de l'unité de la science. La réductibilité des termes de la psychologie puis de la biologie aux termes de la physique implique-t-elle la dérivabilité de leurs lois aux siennes ? Y a-t-il bonne conséquence d'une épistémologie de la réduction à une réduction ontologique ? Le monde, en somme, est-il entièrement explicable par le langage, et si oui, lequel ?

Hematological, biochemical and ruminant parameters for diagnosis of left displacement of the abomasum in dairy cows from Southern Brazil

The objective of this work was to evaluate hematological, biochemical and ruminant parameters for diagnosis and treatment of the left displaced abomasum (LDA) in dairy cows, in the Plateau Region of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Ruminant fluid, blood and urine samples were collected from 20 cows suffering LDA and from 20 healthy cows (control). The cows with LDA showed lower values of daily milk production, body weight and corporal condition score. The use of pH reagent strips showed to be functional in the field, when compared to a digital pH meter. Ruminant dynamics was damaged in cows affected by LDA, as it was evidenced by the higher reduction time of methylene blue. Serum values of lactate, beta-hydroxybutyrate, urea, albumin, free fatty acids and cholesterol shows to be auxiliary tools in the LDA characterization.

Desarrollo de aplicación catálogo TIC de la Dirección General de Tecnologías de Información de la Generalitat Valenciana

En este proyecto vamos a ver el proceso de transformación de una aplicación que ejercía de pequeño inventario de una organización hasta convertirse en el componente central de la Base de Datos de Gestión de la Configuración (CMDB) de activos software de dicha organización. Para el desarrollo del proyecto veremos, no sólo como se utilizan herramientas del mundo del software libre, sino cómo se aplica su modelo de desarrollo colaborativo. La herramienta principal sobre la que se desarrolla el proyecto es el framework libre de la Generalitat Valenciana gvHIDRA. Veremos una pequeña introducción al mismo y realizaremos un análisis de la forja de desarrollo que actualmente se ofrece a los desarrolladores.

Desenvolvimento de afilhos e componentes do rendimento em genótipos de trigo sob diferentes densidades de semeadura

O objetivo deste trabalho foi determinar o padrão de desenvolvimento de afilhos em genótipos de trigo contrastantes para esse caráter, em diferentes densidades de semeadura, bem como seus efeitos sobre os componentes do rendimento de grãos. O experimento foi conduzido no Município de Capão do Leão, RS, em 2006. Dez cultivares de trigo, selecionadas com base na capacidade de afilhamento, foram utilizadas em delineamento de parcelas divididas, com a parcela composta pelo fator cultivar, e as subparcelas pelas densidades de semeadura, com 50, 200, 350, 500 e 650 sementes aptas por metro quadrado. Observou-se que a senescência de afilhos esteve diretamente relacionada ao potencial de afilhamento dos genótipos. Os genótipos com elevada capacidade de afilhamento apresentaram efeito mais pronunciado da senescência, com o aumento da densidade de semeadura. O melhor ajuste dos componentes do rendimento foi obtido por meio da adequada densidade de semeadura, que deve ser realizada com base no potencial de afilhamento dos genótipos. Além disto, o efeito compensatório de genótipos com reduzido potencial de afilhamento é resultante de maior massa de grãos por espiga, em detrimento do número de espigas por unidade de área.

Role of JNK in neurodegenerative diseases

The c-Jun N-terminal kinases (JNK) are members of the MAPK family and can be activated by different stimuli such as cellular stress, heat shock and ultra-violet irradiation. JNKs have different physiological functions and they have been linked to apoptosis in different cell types. Therefore, the JNK signalling pathway is an important target to prevent cell death. In the present chapter, the role of JNKs in neurodegenerative diseases will be discussed, as well as the pharmacological compounds that inhibit this signalling pathway as therapeutic intervention to prevent neuronal death.

A la recherche d'une dynamique perdue: la politique suisse des drogues à l'épreuve du temps.

Le modèle des 4 piliers de notre politique drogues sert volontiers d'exemple dans les discussions en cours sur une politique intégrée des substances psychotropes. Si des succès importants ont été obtenus, il convient cependant de ne pas sombrer dans un satisfecit complaisant sur la réalité de notre politique drogues. Malgré l'ancrage législatif des 4 piliers, de nombreux défis demeurent.

Morphological, pedigree, and molecular distances and their association with hybrid wheat performance

The objectives of this work were to estimate the genetic distance among wheat genotypes using morphological, pedigree, molecular, and combined morphological and molecular measures, to determine the correlations between these measures, and to evaluate the combining ability of the genotypes. Three generations and two planting designs were studied. Six wheat genotypes were crossed using a diallel design. The F1, F2 and F3generations were evaluated in the field, in the crop seasons of 2003, 2004 and 2005, under spaced plant and full-row planting designs. The estimated general and specific combining abilities of tested hybrids were influenced both by the generation and the planting design. The correlation coefficients among the distance measures and between these measures and genotype performances of different generations for the two planting designs were low to moderate. In order to obtain a more precise estimate of the genetic distance among cultivars and its association with the hybrid performance, more than one generation, planting design, and genetic distance estimation technique should be employed.

Fluctuation relation for weakly ergodic aging systems

A fluctuation relation for aging systems is introduced and verified by extensive numerical simulations. It is based on the hypothesis of partial equilibration over phase-space regions in a scenario of entropy-driven relaxation. The relation provides a simple alternative method, amenable of experimental implementation, to measure replica symmetry breaking parameters in aging systems. The connection with the effective temperatures obtained from the fluctuation-dissipation theorem is discussed

Conteúdo de β-glucana em cultivares de aveia-branca cultivadas em diferentes ambientes

O objetivo deste trabalho foi caracterizar cultivares de aveia-branca quanto ao conteúdo de β-glucana nos grãos, determinar sua relação com a produtividade e o rendimento industrial de grãos, e definir os parâmetros de adaptabilidade e estabilidade para esses caracteres. Nas safras de 2007 e 2008, foram cultivadas 15 cultivares de aveia-branca nos municípios de Augusto Pestana, Capão do Leão e Passo Fundo, no Rio Grande do Sul, seguindo delineamento em blocos ao acaso, com quatro repetições constituídas por parcelas úteis de 3 m². De maneira geral, os genótipos apresentaram desempenho variável de acordo com a região e o ano de cultivo, para conteúdo de b-glucana no grão. As cultivares Barbarasul, Brisasul, UFRGS 19, UPFA 22, URS 20, URS 22 e URS Guapa apresentam biótipo ideal, com elevado conteúdo médio de b-glucana no grão, ampla adaptabilidade e elevada estabilidade fenotípica. Foram constatadas relações significativas entre o conteúdo de b-glucana no grão e a produtividade e o rendimento industrial de grãos.
