O estilo de João Ubaldo Ribeiro em Viva o Povo Brasileiros e An Invincible Memory

This paper aims at observing a particular case of an author’s and self-translator’s style in the pair of works Viva o Povo Brasileiro and An Invincible Memory. Our investigation has its theoretical starting point based on Corpus-Based Translation Studies (Baker, 1993, 1995, 1996, 2000; Camargo, 2005, 2007), and works on cultural domains (Nida, 1945; Aubert, 1981, 2006). The results showed that great part of cultural marks may be classified as the material, social, and ideological cultural domains, which reflects the context of the source text. It was also possible to observe that normalization features tends to reveal conscious or unconscious use of fluency strategies by the self-translator, making the translated text easier to read.

Legendagem e dublagem: diferenças na tradução do humor

This work aims on an approach concerning on Translation Theories, as well as the translational difficulties, the linguistic barriers with which the translator must know how to deal, the role of the translator as a conscious subject of his work while creating new texts and producing meanings. We will develop a discussion focused on the audiovisual translation practice which means the translation for subtitles and dubbings. It will be shown the translation process on both modalities and also the issue about the translation of humor in each of them, as the translator must use his translational skill, cultural and linguistic knowledge and creativity, not only to circumvent the rules imposed by the audiovisual translation market, but also to be able to create a new language for each character presented in the original material, so that the translation in Portuguese language may contain proper traces of humor from the Brazilian culture. Our main goal is an attempt to explain the reason for so many questions from the public who does not know the rules in the market for subtitling and dubbing translation and sometimes criticize the work of the translator if they realize any ‘loss of information’ or ‘a translation very poorly done’. Theories and arguments which prove that no translation is done badly, but it goes through recreations and modifications whenever it is necessary will be presented. By the explanation of this translation process, citation of translators who work in this area telling about their experiences and selected examples of translations from the ‘Everybody hates Chris’ sitcom, we hope to reflect and clarify such doubts.

For centuries have studied the man in a segmented manner, which today, even with the emergence of new forms of research, holistic, we see that the influence of centuries of construction of scientific knowledge has taken root in such a way that even now with new understandings about matter and its structure pointing to systemic relations, studies are still largely dichotomized by dividing body, mind and environment. This paper is a literature review on several sources of knowledge, seeking an interdisciplinary way in physics, chemistry, biology, psychology and physical education, relate the body, mind and their interactions with the environment, building a more current concept of body. The studies showed that the physical, cognitive, emotional, social and environmental aspects involve an interaction continues between human been with the world, which changes shapes, balances and transactions, and thus human behavior. The article presents data from a qualitative study that aimed to investigate the presence of aspects that integrate knowledge, values and practice of the Human Rights Education (HRE) in the political-pedagogical projects (PPPs) of public schools in the state of São Paulo. 15 documents were analyzed from criteria based on reference documents for HRE in Brazil. The criteria were organized into seven areas: internal and external community; principles and concepts of education; goals; curriculum; democratic participation and school environment; teacher training and evaluation. We sought to identify whether the HRE related elements were missing, or if they were just mentioned or stood out through propositional planned actions in PPPs. The data demonstrate that the contents directly related to HRE are absent from PPPs, some issues related to this type of education are weakly mentioned and there are some planned actions that promote rights. However, the intentional, systematic and conscious planning of HRE is not yet reflected in this document type.

The perception of modern society regarding the nature and indigenous peoples came to be shaped in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, with two major events, the invasion of Europeans in America and the scientific revolution. These events symbolize the cultural overlap and European thinking about the rest of the world. The current scenario is industrialism, consumism and cultural standardization driven by Cartesian thought. This work demonstrates, through literature research and data analysis, that this dominant model has caused the crisis of modernity, focusing especially on the environmental crisis that threatens human life. The solutions are present in the modern society the knowledge of indigenous peoples that is inherently ecological and sustainable by tradition. From the union of diverse cultures and knowledge dialog you can find solutions for today's problems and provide a renewal of relationships between modern society, indigenous peoples and nature. The World Conscious Pact presents this proposal which can be increased through public relations strategies in order to reconnect the man-nature bond, generating critical behavior with respect to the current dominant system and motivate society to adopt truly ecological postures. Role of central α1- and α2-adrenoceptors on the dipsogenic and cardiovascular effect of angiotensin II

We investigated the effects of previous central treatment with prazosin (an α1-adrenoceptor antagonist) or clonidine (an α2-adrenoceptor agonist) on the dipsogenic, pressor and tachycardic responses produced by intracerebroventricular (ICV) injection of angiotensin II (AII) in conscious rats. Holtzman rats with a chronic cannula implanted in the lateral ventricle were tested for dipsogenic and cardiovascular (arterial pressure and heart rate) responses in separate experiments. Previous ICV treatment with clonidine (20, 40, 80 and 120 nmol) abolished the pressor, tachycardic and dipsogenic effects of ICV AII. After all doses of prazosin (40, 80 and 120 nmol), AII induced bradycardic responses, but only the 80 and 120 nmol doses of prazosin reduced the pressor responses to AII. Prazosin produced no alteration in the dipsogenic effect of AII. The results show that the periventricular α1-adrenoceptors are involved only in the cardiovascular responses produced by central AII, whereas clonidine acting through α2-adrenergic and/or imidazole receptors can modulate all actions of AII. © 1990.
