Oral stomatitis induced by endogenous progesterone: Case report

Oral stomatitis induced by endogenous progesterone is a rare clinical condition which may be associated with cutaneous involvement. That is probably due to the peak of progesterone production during the luteal phase of the menstrual cycle. In the present case report, a 21-year-old patient displayed recurrent ulcerative lesions located on the buccal mucosa or the upper lip, on a monthly basis since the age of 15. Such lesions would always manifest themselves on the second day until the end of the menstrual cycle. © 2009 Informa UK Ltd All rights reserved.

Geographic distribution and parturition of mabuya arajara Rebouças-Spieker, 1981 (Squamata, sauria, scincidae) from Ceará, northeastern Brazil

Mabuya arajara Rebouças-Spieker, 1981 has been considered an endemic species from the southern of state of Ceará, restricted to the Deciduous Dry Forests in the slopes of Plateau of Araripe (Chapada do Araripe). Here, we present an updated distributional map for the species and demonstrate that its range is not restricted as formerly believed. In addition, we had an opportunity to observe a gravid female and we describe aspects regarding parturition and number of offspring for the species.

Ecological data on road killed Amphisbaena alba linnaeus, 1758 (Squamata, Amphisbaenidae) in southeast Brazil

Vehicles running over vertebrates has been an increasing challenge to the local conservation of some herpetofauna. The Amphisbaenidae are fossorial reptiles which are poorly known ecologically. Biological and natural history data were obtained from three specimens of Amphisbaenia alba that were found dead along 8320 km survey of highways. The rarity of road kill and the importance of the species conservation are discussed.
