Juncus rechingeri Snogerup en Cataluña

Juncus rechingeri es una especie anual afín a Juncus bufonius L. que fue recientemente reportada como nueva para Europa por Romero Zarco (2008). Hasta entonces sólo se conocía su distribución asiática (Afganistán -de donde proviene el tipo-, Anatolia, Pakistán, Irán y Asia central), pero no se conocía su presencia en el Mediterráneo oeste.

Juego educativo enfocado al desarrollo de habilidades para aprender a modelar requerimientos con artefactos UML

El siguiente trabajo describe los resultados de una experiencia práctica con un juego serio llamado: 'Modela', dirigido tanto a alumnos de Ingeniería de Software como a los profesores que trabajen en esa área, con la intención que practiquen cómo modelar requerimientos con casos de uso y el modelo correcto de un diagrama de caso de uso.

Extirpación de condroma subungueal por mínima incisión

Los condromas son tumores constituidos por tejido del cartígalo hialino que se desarrolla a partir del tejido óseo o del cartilaginoso. Se localizan generalmente y con cierta frecuencia en los huesos metatarsales de las manos y de los pies. El condroma, es el tumor óseo más frecuente de la mano y el pie y raramente se muestra con agresividad expansiva. Los huesos largos de las extremidades se encuentra involucrados con menos frecuencia, no obstante no es rara su aparición en el húmero y en el femur.

Daño oxidativo en la microalga Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata expuesta a aguas receptoras de un efluente minero en del Río Blanco (V Región, Chile)

In this investigation antioxidant response and toxicity of metals in receiving water effluent miner in the Blanco river in Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata was assessed. The catalase activity, lipid damage through Tbars, the growth rate of was determined. The result showed an inhibition of the growth rate of P. subcapitata which correlated with increased catalase activity and the lipid liperoxidation. These responses were correlated with the concentrations of copper and iron.

A química atmosférica no Brasil de 1790 a 1853

Atmospheric chemistry in Brazil from 1790 to 1853. Scarcely any mention is made today of investigations carried out in Brazil during the period above on the science of the atmosphere. Yet the study of these cases reveals much about the milieu of a few devoted men who laboured to pursue a scientific career. That such an arcane topic has been the concern of investigators at such an early date may come as a surprise to many. The subject was an oddity as a field of study anywhere at the time, and its history deserves the attention of present-day chemists.

Relationship between weight, age and hatching success and the concentration of heavy metals in nestling blue macaw (Anodorhynchus hyacinthinus Latham, 1790) in the Pantanal,Mato Grosso do Sul

Abstract: The concentration of heavy metals (Cr, Fe, Al, As, Cd, Cu, Pb, Mo, Ni, Se and Zn) was evaluated in the blood of nestling blue macaws (Anodorhynchus hyacinthinus) captured in the Pantanal, Mato Grosso do Sul (n=26) in 2012; this was based on the hypothesis that these birds exhibit levels of these heavy metals in their organism and that these interfere in hatching success, weight and age of the chicks. Blood samples were digested with nitric acid and hydrochloric acid and the quantification of metals was performed by ICP-OES (Optical Emission Spectroscopy and Inductively Coupled Plasma). Blood samples of nestlings showed concentrations of Cr (0.10μg/g) Fe (3.06μg/g) Al (3.46μg/g), Cd (0.25μg/g) Cu (0.74μg/g), Mo (0.33μg/g), Ni (0.61μg/g), Se (0.98μg/g), and Zn (2.08μg/g). The levels of heavy metals found were not associated with weight, age and hatching success of the chicks.
