Estamos perante um mundo laboral em constante mutação, mais exigente e selecionador e a realidade desportiva não é exceção. Neste contexto, é indispensável ao profissional de desporto a obtenção de conhecimentos multidisciplinares e de relacionamento interpessoal, imperativos ao nível do desenvolvimento sustentável e continuado das organizações desportivas. Assim, para intervir no mundo do desporto, é necessário deter conhecimentos e competências específicas, que permitam, uma adequada intervenção nas mais diversas situações. Desta forma, surgiu a necessidade e motivação para a realização de um Estágio. Este foi efetivado na Associação de Basquetebol da Madeira, doravante designada (ABM), com a duração de 420 horas que decorreu no período de 1 de novembro de 2013 a 4 de julho 2014. A principal área de intervenção foi o planeamento e organização de eventos desportivos, sob a égide da associação. Tivemos igualmente oportunidade de intervir nas áreas do marketing, da pedagogia e da gestão de recursos. O estágio proporcionou-nos ainda a realização de um estudo, com o desígnio de identificar as possíveis causas e fatores do decréscimo do número de praticantes da modalidade, verificado nas últimas épocas desportivas, recorrendo a uma metodologia de análise qualitativa. Esta consistiu em entrevistar quinze dirigentes com responsabilidades técnicas e diretivas no basquetebol da Madeira e na Federação Portuguesa de Basquetebol. As principais conclusões deste estudo apontou para: (i) a redução sistemática dos apoios públicos, que dificultou e muito o normal funcionamento, quer dos clubes, como das Associações, (ii) uma atitude passiva dos clubes no sentido de adotarem estratégias tendencialmente autossustentáveis. As medidas mais referidas para melhorar a modalidade, visam uma melhor e mais exigente formação de técnicos e dirigentes. Relativamente às perspetivas futuras sobre a modalidade a médio prazo, os resultados são díspares: (i) indicam o risco da falta de clubes suficientes para haver competição, (ii) outros perspetivam que será uma modalidade com um crescimento sustentado.

The system built to characterize electrodes and, consequently, deposited fine films are constituted by a hollow cathode that works to discharges and low pressures (approximately 10-3 to 5 mbar), a source DC (0 to 1200 V), a cylindrical camera of closed borossilicato for flanges of stainless steel with an association of vacuum bombs mechanical and spread. In the upper flange it is connected the system of hollow cathode, which possesses an entrance of gas and two entrances for its refrigeration, the same is electrically isolated of the rest of the equipment and it is polarized negatively. In front of the system of hollow cathode there is a movable sample in stainless steel with possibility of moving in the horizontal and vertical. In the vertical, the sample can vary its distance between 0 and 70 mm and, in the horizontal, can leave completely from the front of the hollow cathode. The sample and also the cathode hollow are equipped with cromel-alumel termopares with simultaneous reading of the temperatures during the time of treatment. In this work copper electrodes, bronze, titanium, iron, stainless steel, powder of titanium, powder of titanium and silício, glass and ceramic were used. The electrodes were investigated relating their geometry change and behavior of the plasma of the cavity of hollow cathode and channel of the gas. As the cavity of hollow cathode, the analyzed aspects were the diameter and depth. With the channel of the gas, we verified the diameter. In the two situations, we investigated parameters as flow of the gas, pressure, current and applied tension in the electrode, temperature, loss of mass of the electrode with relationship at the time of use. The flow of gas investigated in the electrodes it was fastened in a work strip from 15 to 6 sccm, the constant pressure of work was among 2.7 to 8 x 10-2 mbar. The applied current was among a strip of work from 0,8 to 0,4 A, and their respective tensions were in a strip from 400 to 220 V. Fixing the value of the current, it was possible to lift the curve of the behavior of the tension with the time of use. That curves esteem in that time of use of the electrode to its efficiency is maximum. The temperatures of the electrodes were in the dependence of that curves showing a maximum temperature when the tension was maximum, yet the measured temperatures in the samples showed to be sensitive the variation of the temperature in the electrodes. An accompaniment of the loss of mass of the electrode relating to its time of use showed that the electrodes that appeared the spherical cavities lost more mass in comparison with the electrodes in that didn't appear. That phenomenon is only seen for pressures of 10-2 mbar, in these conditions a plasma column is formed inside of the channel of the gas and in certain points it is concentrated in form of spheres. Those spherical cavities develop inside of the channel of the gas spreading during the whole extension of the channel of the gas. The used electrodes were cut after they could not be more used, however among those electrodes, films that were deposited in alternate times and the electrodes that were used to deposit films in same times, those films were deposited in the glass substrata, alumina, stainless steel 420, stainless steel 316, silício and steel M2. As the eletros used to deposit films in alternate time as the ones that they were used to deposit in same times, the behavior of the thickness of the film obeyed the curve of the tension with relationship the time of use of the electrode, that is, when the tension was maximum, the thickness of the film was also maximum and when the tension was minimum, the thickness was minimum and in the case where the value of the tension was constant, the thickness of the film tends to be constant. The fine films that were produced they had applications with nano stick, bio-compatibility, cellular growth, inhibition of bacterias, cut tool, metallic leagues, brasagem, pineapple fiber and ornamental. In those films it was investigated the thickness, the adherence and the uniformity characterized by sweeping electronic microscopy. Another technique developed to assist the production and characterization of the films produced in that work was the caloteste. It uses a sphere and abrasive to mark the sample with a cap impression, with that cap form it is possible to calculate the thickness of the film. Through the time of life of the cathode, it was possible to evaluate the rate of waste of its material for the different work conditions. Values of waste rate up to 3,2 x 10-6 g/s were verified. For a distance of the substratum of 11 mm, the deposited film was limited to a circular area of 22 mm diameter mm for high pressures and a circular area of 75 mm for pressure strip. The obtained films presented thickness around 2,1 µm, showing that the discharge of arch of hollow cathode in argon obeys a curve characteristic of the tension with the time of life of the eletrodo. The deposition rate obtained in this system it is of approximately 0,18 µm/min

The retail fuel stations are partially or potentially polluters and generators of environmental accidents, potentially causing contamination of underground and surface water bodies, soil and air. Leaks in fuel retail stations´ underground storage systems are often detected in Brazil and around the world. Monoaromatic hydrocarbons, BTEX (benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylenes) and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are an indication of the presence of contamination due to its high toxicity. This paper presents a case study of contamination in a Fuel Retail Station by petroleum derivative products in the city of Natal. For identification and quantification of the hydrocarbons, EPA analytical methods were used. The values of benzene quantified by EPA method 8021b CG-PID/FID, ranged from 1.164 to 4.503 mg.Kg-1 in soil samples, and from 12.10 to 27,639 μg.L-1 in underground water samples. Among the PAHs, naphthalene and anthracene showed the most significant results in soil samples, 0.420 to 15.46 mg.Kg-1 and 0.110 to 0,970 mg.Kg-1, respectively. In underground water samples, the results for Naphthalene varied between 0.759 and 614.7 μg.L-1. PAHs were quantified by EPA Method 8270 for GCMS. All of the results for the chemical analysis were compared with the values for the CONAMA 420/2009 resolution. The results for benzene (27,639 μg.L-1) showed levels highly above the recommended by the CONAMA 420 resolution, wherein the maximum permissible for underground water is 5 μg.L-1. This is a worrying factor, since underground water makes up 70% of the city of Natal´s water supply

Activities that have fuel subterranean storage system are considered potentially polluting fuels by CONAMA Resolution 273, due to the possibility of leak, outpouring and overflow of fuel into the ground. Being even more worrying when contaminate groundwater for public supply, as the case of Natal City. For this reason, the Public Ministry/RN, in partnership with UFRN, developed the project environmental suitability of Gas stations in Natal, of which 36% showed evidence of contamination. This paper describes the four stages of the management of contaminated areas: preliminary assessment of environmental liabilities, detailed confirmatory investigation of the contamination, risk analysis to human health (RBCA), as well as the remediation plan of degraded areas. Therefore it is presented a case study. For the area investigated has been proposed a mathematical method to estimate the volume of LNAPL by a free CAD software (ScketchUp) and compare it with the partition method for grid area. Were also performed 3D graphics designs of feathers contamination. Research results showed that passive benzene contamination in groundwater was 2791.77 μg/L, when the maximum allowed by CONAMA Resolution 420 is 5 μg/L which is the potability standards. The individual and cumulative risks were calculated from 4.4 x10-3, both above the limits of 1.0 x10-5 or by RBCA 1.0 x10-6 by the Public Ministry/RN. Corrective action points that remediation of dissolved phase benzene is expected to reach a concentration of 25 μg/L, based on carcinogenic risk for ingestion of groundwater by residents residential, diverging legislation. According to the proposed model, the volume of LNAPL using the ScketchUp was 17.59 m3, while by the grid partitioning method was 14.02 m3. Because of the low recovery, the expected removal of LNAPL is 11 years, if the multiphase extraction system installed in the enterprise is not optimized

Sea anemones contain a variety of biologically active substances. Bunodosoma caissarum is a sea anemone from the Cnidaria phylum, found only in Brazilian coastal waters. The aim of the present work was to study the biological effects of PLA(2) isolated from the sea anemone B. caissarum on the isolated perfused kidney, the arteriolar mesenteric bed and on insulin secretion. Specimens of B. caissarum were collected from the Sao Vicente Channel on the southern coast of the State of São Paulo, Brazil. Reverse phase HPLC analysis of the crude extract of B. caissarum detected three PLA(2) proteins (named BcPLA(2)1, BCPLA(2)2 and BcPLA(2)3) found to be active in B. caissarum extracts. MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry of BcPLA(2)1 showed one main peak at 14.7 kDa. The N-terminal amino acid sequence of BcPLA(2)1 showed high amino acid sequence identity with PLA(2) group III protein isolated from the Mexican lizard (PA23 HELSU, HELSU, PA22 HELSU) and with the honey bee Apis mellifera (PLA(2) and 1POC_A). In addition, BcPLA(2)1 also showed significant overall homology to bee PLA(2). The enzymatic activity induced by native BCPLA(2)1 (20 mu g/well) was reduced by chemical treatment with p-bromophenacyl bromide (p-BPB) and with morin. BcPLA(2)1 strongly induced insulin secretion in presence of high glucose concentration. In isolated kidney, the PLA(2) from B. caissarum increased the perfusion pressure, renal vascular resistance, urinary flow, glomerular filtration rate, and sodium, potassium and chloride levels of excretion. BcPLA(2)1, however, did not increase the perfusion pressure on the mesenteric vascular bed. In conclusion, PLA(2), a group III phospholipase isolated from the sea anemone B. caissarum, exerted effects on renal function and induced insulin secretion in conditions of high glucose concentration. Este trabalho teve como objetivo identificar zonas diferenciadas de manejo por meio de indicadores de fertilidade em Latossolos cultivados com cana-de-açúcar, utilizando-se a técnica de krigagem indicatriz, com vistas em buscar um aprimoramento na utilização de técnicas de agricultura de precisão. O estudo foi realizado em uma área de 90 ha pertencente a uma área maior de 1.900 ha, localizada em Jaboticabal, Estado de São Paulo, Brasil (21 ° 15 ' S e 48 ° 18 ' W). Na área experimental, foi estabelecida uma malha de amostragem regular de 50 m, com 420 pontos. em cada ponto, coletou-se uma amostra de solo, na qual foram determinados os teores de matéria orgânica, P, K disponíveis e o valor de V. Os dados obtidos para estas características do solo, assim como as combinações entre elas, foram codificados em valores indicadores 0 ou 1, conforme as variáveis apresentassem valores acima ou abaixo do valor de corte estabelecido, escolhido para cada variável, respectivamente. Os resultados propiciaram a confecção de mapas de probabilidade de cada variável (individual e combinada), o que possibilitou identificar regiões com diferentes níveis de fertilidade do solo na área experimental.

The present study investigates adrenergic regulation of the systemic and pulmonary circulations of the anaesthetised South American rattlesnake, Crotalus durissus. Haemodynamic measurements were made following bolus injections of adrenaline and adrenergic antagonists administered through a systemic arterial catheter. Adrenaline caused a marked systemic vasoconstriction that was abolished by phentolamine, indicating this response was mediated through alpha-adrenergic receptors. Injection of phentolamine gave rise to a pronounced vasodilatation (systemic conductance (G(sys)) more than doubled), while injection of propranolol caused a systemic vasoconstriction, pointing to a potent alpha-adrenergic, and a weaker beta-adrenergic tone in the systemic vasculature of Crotalus. Overall, the pulmonary vasculature was far less responsive to adrenergic stimulation than the systemic circulation. Adrenaline caused a small but non-significant pulmonary vasodilatation and there was tendency of reducing this dilatation after either phentolamine or propranolol. Injection of phentolamine increased pulmonary conductance (G(pul)), while injection of propranolol produced a small pulmonary constriction, indicating that alpha-adrenergic and beta-adrenergic receptors contribute to a basal regulation of the pulmonary vasculature. Our results suggest adrenergic regulation of the systemic vasculature, rather than the pultrionary, may be an important factor in the development of intracardiac shunts. (c) 2007 Elsevier B.V. Foram analisados registros de 1.698 animais de um rebanho Caracu selecionado para peso pós-desmame entre os anos 1979 e 2002 com o objetivo de verificar a existência de variabilidade genética aditiva nas características de crescimento e suas interpretações. As características analisadas foram: peso ao nascer (PN), peso padronizado aos 120 dias (P120), peso ao desmame padronizado aos 210 dias (P210), peso de machos ao final da prova de ganho de peso (P378) e ganhos diários do nascimento ao desmame (GND), dos machos na prova de ganho de peso (G112), do desmame ao sobreano em machos (GDSm), peso de fêmeas padronizado aos 550 dias (P550) e ganhos das fêmeas em pastagem do desmame ao sobreano (GDSf), além da altura da garupa a um ano em machos (ALTm) e ao sobreano em fêmeas (ALTf). Os componentes de (co) variâncias, as herdabilidades e as correlações genéticas foram estimados por máxima verossimilhança restrita não-derivativa utilizando-se o software MTDFREML. As estimativas de herdabilidade e os erros-padrão foram iguais a 0,34±0,06; 0,11±0,05; 0,13±0,05; 0,11±0,05; 0,35±0,09; 0,42±0,09; 0,31±0,09; 0,13±0,06; 0,21±0,08; 0,55±0,11; 0,51±0,09 para PN, P120, P210, GND, P378, P550, GDSm, GDSf, G112, ALTm e ALTf, respectivamente. As correlações genéticas entre as características foram de moderadas a altas e positivas, com exceção de algumas correlações com a característica GDSf e o PN. A seleção com base no desempenho do próprio indivíduo, como tem sido realizada, proporciona progresso genético nas características de seleção direta, assim como em algumas características com alta correlação genética.

Foram estimadas as correlações genéticas entre características de produção de leite (produção de leite, gordura, proteína e duração da lactação em até 305 dias, na primeira lactação), características de peso (taxa de crescimento de novilhas entre 12-24 meses e peso médio de vacas) e idade ao primeiro parto, em uma população de fêmeas Mestiço Leiteiro Brasileiro (MLB), por meio de metodologia REML, sob modelo animal. As estimativas de herdabilidade das características estudadas na ordem acima foram, respectivamente, 0,28± 0,08, 0,30±0,11, 0,28±0,09, 0,19±0,07, 0,18±0,06, 0,42±0,10 e 0,48±0,12. As correlações genéticas entre peso médio da vaca e a produção de leite, gordura e proteína foram, respectivamente, -0,22±0,22, -0,49±0,31 e -0,22±0,23 e da taxa de crescimento das novilhas com a produção de leite, gordura e proteína foram respectivamente, -0,59±0,35, -0,73±0,44 e -0,62±0,37. As correlações genéticas entre produção de leite, peso médio das vacas e taxa de crescimento das novilhas com idade ao primeiro parto foram respectivamente, 0,05±0,18, -0,05±0,18 e 0,02±0,20. A alta correlação genética (0,93±0,02) entre produção de leite e duração da lactação indicou que não se deve remover a variação na duração da lactação na seleção de gado leiteiro tropical.
