Femtosecond-laser assisted cataract surgery: a review.

Introduced in 2008, the femtosecond laser is a promising new technological advance which plays an ever increasing role in cataract surgery where it automates the three main surgical steps: corneal incision, capsulotomy and lens fragmentation. The proven advantages over manual surgery are: a better quality of incision with reduced induced astigmatism; increased reliability and reproducibility of the capsulotomy with increased stability of the implanted lens; a reduction in the use of ultrasound. Regarding refractive results or safety, however, no prospective randomized study to date has shown significant superiority compared with standard manual technique. The significant extra cost generated by this laser, undertaken by the patient, is a limiting factor for both its use and study. This review outlines the potential benefits of femtosecond-laser-assisted cataract surgery due to the automation of key steps and the safety of this new technology.

Diseño e implantación de un sistema SCADA para una planta de producción y envasado de líquidos

Este proyecto consiste en la implantación de un sistema SCADA en una planta piloto de fabricación y envasado de líquidos. En este documento se muestra toda la información que ha sido necesaria para realizar el sistema de automatización en los tres niveles propios de un SCADA: nivel de campo, nivel de control y nivel de supervisión. El trabajo de campo ha sido, típicamente de revisión, puesto que el Departament de Telecomunicació i d’Enginyeria de Sistemes ya poseía la planta totalmente equipada, mientras que el sistema de control y el sistema de supervisión se han implantado totalmente.

Automatització de tests per a una aplicació J2EE

Aquest projecte consisteix en la creació d’una eina que permeti automatitzar els tests que s’han de fer a una aplicació comercial j2ee, amb el propòsit de facilitar i estalviar feina a les persones encarregades de testejar aquesta aplicació, ajudant-les així en la seva tasca de cerca d’errors. Concretament, s’ha creat una aplicació construïda per capes, modulable i fàcilment ampliable, la qual arriba més enllà de l’automatització dels tests més habituals, permetent executar un conjunt de tests per tal de validar si la versió de l’aplicació a testejar és vàlida o no.

Automatic DVB signal analyser

El problema de controlar les emissions de televisió digital a tota Europa pel desenvolupament de receptors robustos i fiables és cada vegada més significant, per això, sorgeix la necessitat d’automatitzar el procés d’anàlisi i control d’aquests senyals. Aquest projecte presenta el desenvolupament software d’una aplicació que vol solucionar una part d’aquest problema. L’aplicació s’encarrega d’analitzar, gestionar i capturar senyals de televisió digital. Aquest document fa una introducció a la matèria central que és la televisió digital i la informació que porten els senyals de televisió, concretament, la que es refereix a l’estàndard "Digital Video Broadcasting". A continuació d’aquesta part, l’escrit es concentra en l’explicació i descripció de les funcionalitats que necessita cobrir l'aplicació, així com introduir i explicar cada etapa d’un procés de desenvolupament software. Finalment, es resumeixen els avantatges de la creació d’aquest programa per l’automatització de l’anàlisi de senyal digital partint d’una optimització de recursos.

A comparative study on IgG-ELISA, IgM-IFT and Kato-Katz methods for epidemiological purposes in a low endemic area for schistosomiasis

The high sensitivity and the possibility of automation of the enzyme-linked-immunosorbent-assay (ELISA) has indicated this technique as one of the most useful serological test for epidemiological studies. In the present study, an ELISA for detection of IgG antibodies against adult worm antigens (IgG-ELISA) was investigated for epidemiological purposes, in a rural area of the municipality of Itariri (São Paulo, Brazil). Blood on filter paper (1,180 samples) from about 650 schoolchildren were submitted to ELISA and the data compared to the results of the parasitological method of Kato-Katz and also to the IgM-IFT (immunofluorescence test for IgM antibodies to gut associated antigens). The prevalence rates respectively of 8.5%, 43.0%, and 56.2% by the Kato-Katz, IgG-ELISA, and IgM-IFT methods suggest the poor sensitivity of the parasitological method for detection of Schistosoma mansoni eggs in individuals with low worm burden, situation commonly observed in low endemic areas. These results can partially explain the poor degree of agreement between the IgG-ELISA and the Kato-Katz, as suggested by the Kappa index of 0.170. Otherwise, the Kappa index of 0.675 showed substantial agreement between the two serological tests. Some discrepancy of results between the two serological techniques must be better investigated.

Automatització integral d'un habitatge

En aquest projecte discutirem i aprovarem la viabilitat d'implementar una automatització integral d'un habitatge utilitzant les tecnologies domòtiques existents a l'actualitat. La idea inicial és substituir tots els elements que integren la construcció (il·luminació, climatització, parts mòbils,...) per dispositius domòtics i implementar un software de visualització sobre aparells mòbils (smartphones, tablets) que ens permeti un control total sobre l'habitacle. S’avaluarà quina és la solució de mercat que millor s’adapta al projecte i s’implementarà integrant-la posteriorment als sistemes de visualització i control.

Este proyecto viene motivado por la necesidad de reducir el gasto de mantenimiento producido por el aumento del precio de la energía, la necesidad de uso de dispositivos electrónicos (sistemas de climatización, iluminación...), las deficiencias de construcción (aislamientos, ventanales...), el ineficiente uso de las persianas y sistemas de ciere, y el innecesario uso de de la iluminación artificial.
