Innovation is widely recognized as important. In addition, in this context, innovation networks have gained importance in academic studies, since an organization alone, does not always have access to all necessary resources. Gobbo Junior and Olsson (2010) proposed a model of network innovation whereby the transformation networks would be the linking structures between exploration and exploitation networks. In this context, this paper presents two case studies of innovation networks, aiming to increase the understanding on transformation networks. The objective was to understand how they interconnect exploration and exploitation networks; the main actors present in this interface; and to evaluate whether these actors can act as agents, to accelerate the innovation process. It was possible to verify how the transformation networks interconnect exploration and exploitation, and identify the practices and their main actors.

The objective was to map the prevalence of nutritional disorders in children attending the 1st to 4th grade of 12 public elementary schools located in the 5 administrative regions of Piracicaba, SP, each with its own socioeconomic profi le, from 2003 to 2006. A total of 16,068 children, divided into 8,133 (50.6%) girls and 7,935 (49.4%) boys, aged 7 to 11 years, were weighed and measured. Their nutritional status indicators heightfor-age (H/A), weight-for-age (W/A), and body mass index-for-age (BMI/A) were compared with those of the NCHS/CDC 2000 reference population and classifi ed according to the z-score cut-off points recommended by the World Health Organization. During that period, the Western Region, which has the lowest socioeconomic indicators, had the lowest z-score medians of the three anthropometric indicators assessed (p<0.0001) and was the only region to have a higher-than-expected stunting prevalence (3.0% with Z < -2). Excess weight prevalence was higher than expected in all regions. The Central Region, which has the highest socioeconomic indicators, had the highest excess weight prevalence (6.0% with Z > 2). Time had a positive effect on the stunted children, reducing the stunting rates in the regions with the lowest socioeconomic indicators. In conclusion, the three nutritional status indicators showed results suitable to the social and economic characteristics of each region. Although nutritional disorders have particular characteristics, they are a problem to the entire population.

Griffith's experiments regarding bacterial transformation Pneumococcus are regarded as essential when related to DNA/heredity recognition process. The aim of the current study is to assess the didac tic transposition of the concept of bacterial transformation since the Griffith's descriptions until its current approach on didactic books. We realized that the historical context and the relationship between bacterial transformation and DNA recognition as genetic material are poorly explored. The core of our paper is the historical approach of those exper iments. By considering the wide richness of the knowledge that is ranged on Griffith's experiments, we suggest a didactic transposition concerning bacterial transformation in the learning process, involving an integration of contents.

This paper reflects on education, work and social issues in the globalized world, where the transformations technical / scientific / informational, articulate the context and intentions capitalists generated unemployment and social exclusion of millions of people in the name of competitiveness and streamlining production . Brazil, a country with vast territory, the diversity of strategic resources, large population and vast internal market, has the potential to achieve full autonomy socioeconomic during the twenty-first century. However, the achievement of autonomy depends on the socioeconomic development of a strategic project to education to train the new generations and to upgrade the skills of workers at work. The construction of a just society depends on acquisition of knowledge, skills and social skills and labor to keep up with rapid changes afforded by developments in science and technology of the third millennium and build a collective consciousness able to avoid degrading economic, environmental and social fundamental condition for all Brazilians are full citizens.

The aim of this work is to advance a new approach for estimating demographic density, through combining a Geographic Information System with GMDH Neural Networks. The model that is suggested parts the analyzed space into a rectangular grid formed by multiple cells measuring 0.01 km2 each. The forecasts are elaborated based on the demographic density in each cell and in its neighboring cells at a given time. Despite the limited availability of data during the modeling phase, the utilization of this method for studying a Brazilian medium-sized city presented promising results.

Planning and sustainable management of water resources require actions that focuses on life quality, recovery and preservation of natural resources. As such, a municipality must have tools which empower the government with the right to exercise such actions, for example, the Master Plan and Sector Plans. To develop municipal plans which will guide the development of the city and provide information for establishment of public policies, it is of the utmost importance that they are designed based on primary and safe data. In view of these considerations, this study aimed at formulating environmental indicators by using a Geographic Information System – GIS. The environmental diagnosis based on the gvGIS was used as database, which made the process to be agile and accurate. The watershed of Lençóis River – SP was the study area. It has a good database from the Environmental Diagnosis of the watershed of Lençóis River, which was created through funds from the State Funds for Water Resources – FEHIDRO. The borrower was the Service of Water Supply and Sewage of Lençóis Paulista – SAAELP. Based on the diagnosis, the indicators were formulated concerning land use and occupation as well as water resources. The results were considered satisfactory and showed that the methodology used in this study is of great importance to evaluate water resources, as it provides a reliable basis for the decision-making process seeking environmental compliance and sustainable development. By using environmental indicators, the sustainability of an area as a whole can be analyzed, and the parts as well, i.e., it is possible to identify which sector is experiencing significant problems and take actions to solve them.

Among the various school functions in capitalist society there in the literature and common sense that the school would have a central role in correcting social inequalities produced by the capitalist mode of production. We see, in today's society, children and young people who moved by the desire to get out of where they are, usually on the outskirts, in a vulnerable situation, seek growth through the study; They see it as a way out to another reality with more opportunit ies and chances for improvement, both as regards their quality of life, and even want to change, change and influence their own reality or part of it, with the knowledge learned in school. On the other hand, there are theorists who maintain that the school reproduces the basic features of the social structure and the current system of power in society. Our goal is to discuss the transformative potential of education as opposed to its role of reproduction of social inequalities, through the essential role of the teacher, who has a high profile role when it comes to change. The teacher is one of the first professionals that we remember when we turn to the school and refer to the systematic teaching. But sometimes forms of education present in the school, afflicting much of children and young people and are characterized in order to favor certain classes and eventually stop the growth and development of those who do not meet the required standards. In this paper we intend to compare two lines of thought, alluding to pedagogical activities in class, the Paulo Freire, which brings the teacher's figure with a responsible actor for lead students to reflection of their practice; and Pierre Bourdieu, which considers the pedagogical practice as an act of imposition of values of the ruling class. The work will address the issue from literature
