Caracterização química e física de turfa litorânea e avaliação da adsorção competitiva por cobre e zinco

The chemical and physical characterization of coastal peat has been studied. It was examined the pH, organic matter content and elementary and XRD analyses, among other characteristics. The peat was then applied to the retention and competition of metal micronutrients (Cu and Zn) from metal nitrate solutions. The retention was affected by both the pH and time of adsorption, while the competitive character of these metals for the substrate was relevant to each pH examined.

Filmes de metal-hexacianoferrato: uma ferramenta em química analítica

Chemically modified electrodes based on hexacyanometalate films are presented as a tool in analytical chemistry. Use of amperometric sensors and/or biosensors based on the metal-hexacyanoferrate films is a tendency. This article reviews some applications of these films for analytical determination of both inorganic (e.g. As3+, S2O3(2-)) and organic (e.g. cysteine, hydrazine, ascorbic acid, gluthatione, glucose, etc.) compounds.

Aplicações da química combinatória no desenvolvimento de fármacos

Combinatorial Chemistry has become a very efficient methodology in drug research. Recent progress in combinatorial synthesis performed both in solid and solution phase have led to a change in the paradigm for the identification and optimization of lead compounds. This article gives an overview of the principal characteristics of combinatorial libraries and some examples of the application of this methodology in the identification of test compounds and lead compound optimization, either from synthetic or natural sources.

Evasão do curso de química da Universidade de Brasília: a interpretação do aluno evadido

This study aimed the investigation of the reasons that led undergraduate students of the Chemistry course at Universidade de Brasília to abandon the course before its conclusion. From the former students' point of view, the reasons that led them to leave the course were related to aspects of their academic life prior to university entrance, expectations which failed to be met by the course, the intricate nature of the academic system, personal and social experiences. Abandonment is a consequence of the problems he encounters during the course and takes on a connotation of protest, more than of failure.

Estudio para la implantación de un ERP en una empresa química

Este proyecto, tiene como objetivo proporcionar los pilares de la selección e implementación de un ERP en una PYME destinada a la industria química. Se analizan todos los pasos previos necesarios para la correcta elección del sistema de gestión deseado. De cara al cliente, se realiza un estudio del funcionamiento y necesidades de la empresa, con una posterior propuesta de ERP según sus necesidades. Esta, ya aceptada, se encuentra en proceso de instalación. Personalmente, me ha ofrecido la posibilidad de entender todo el entramado de una empresa y como puede ser potenciado de una manera sencilla y efectiva mediante software.

Qualidade de medições em química analítica. Estudo de caso: determinação de cádmio por espectrofotometria de absorção atômica com chama

Calculation of uncertainty of results represents the new paradigm in the area of the quality of measurements in laboratories. The guidance on the Expression of Uncertainty in Measurement of the ISO / International Organization for Standardization assumes that the analyst is being asked to give a parameter that characterizes the range of the values that could reasonably be associated with the result of the measurement. In practice, the uncertainty of the analytical result may arise from many possible sources: sampling, sample preparation, matrix effects, equipments, standards and reference materials, among others. This paper suggests a procedure for calculation of uncertainties components of an analytical result due to sample preparation (uncertainty of weights and volumetric equipment) and instrument analytical signal (calibration uncertainty). A numerical example is carefully explained based on measurements obtained for cadmium determination by flame atomic absorption spectrophotometry. Results obtained for components of total uncertainty showed that the main contribution to the analytical result was the calibration procedure.

Relato de uma experiência: recuperação e cadastramento de resíduos dos laboratórios de graduação do Instituto de Química da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul

An experience aiming to promote a residue interchange and recovery between the teaching laboratories of the Chemistry Institute of this University is described. At the present, several residues interchange have already appeared as advantageous. To make the work easier, a software has been developed in order to keep a record of all the residues generated by the teaching laboratories. Standard labels have been developed for the residues in order to organize them. The software and the label design are described.

O programa de gerenciamento dos resíduos laboratoriais do Depto de Química da UFPR

The Laboratory Waste Management Program of the Chemistry Department of UFPR started on 1997 and was developed to meet the requirements of co-processing in cement kiln and those of the respective regulation. The in-lab procedures for waste collection and treatment were devised taking into account their cost, simplicity and wide range of application to the various types of residues generated. The program works with a five step annual journey : 1) Waste collection and treatment, 2) Bulk Storage, 3) Licensing (for transportation and co-processing), 4) Transportation and 5) Co-processing.
