Regeneração avançada sob ilhas de vegetação em área de campo cerrado na estação ecológica de Itirapina, SP

Devido à ação antrópica e consequente fragmentação e degradação do bioma Cerrado, as Unidades de Conservação cada vez mais se inserem como importantes locais de retenção da biodiversidade. A Estação Ecológica de Itirapina apresenta-se como um dos poucos locais do Estado de São Paulo que conservam as diversas fitofisionomias comuns nesse domínio. No intuito de contribuir com informações que auxiliem na conservação e restauração desse bioma, este trabalho traz como questões: as “Ilhas” de Vegetação facilitam o processo de sucessão no Campo Cerrado da Estação Ecológica de Itirapina, SP? Há diferença na regeneração em função da cobertura de copa condicionada pelas espécies formadoras das ilhas estudadas? Para isso, foram selecionadas ilhas com predomínio de Dalbergia miscolobium Benth. (Fabaceae), de Hancornia speciosa Gomes (Apocynaceae) e “Ilhas” Mistas, nas quais levantaram-se todos os indivíduos lenhosos e sublenhosos em parcelas montadas sob sua cobertura de copa e no seu entorno, além de amostrada a cobertura do estrato herbáceo, em função da aplicação do Método do Toque. Comparando-se o entorno e o interior das ilhas analisadas através do uso do Teste t pareado, foram relacionados os componentes diversidade, densidade, riqueza, cobertura do estrato herbáceo, além dos parâmetros de estrutura de habitat: temperatura, luminosidade, umidade do ar e do solo, e biomassa de serrapilheira. Utilizando-se a análise de ANOVA foram usados os mesmos parâmetros para a comparação das ilhas entre si. Alguns resultados nas Mistas, como a diversidade e cobertura do estrato herbáceo (t=5,113; p=0,00373/ t=-3,51; p=0,017, respectivamente), e nas ilhas de Dalbergia miscolobium, como a densidade e a riqueza (t=3,264; p=0,0223/ t=2,850; p=0,0463, respectivamente), associados com análises de estrutura de habitat (para p≤0,06), indicaram... Implantação iônica por imersão em plasma e deposição de filmes finos poliméricos provenientes da mistura hexametildisilazano/argônio

Thin polymeric films deposited by plasma are very atractive for many industrial and scientific applications, in areas such as electronics, mechanics, coatings, biomaterials, among others, due to its favorable properties such as good adhesion to the substrate, high crosslinking, nanomectric thickness, homogeneity, etc. In this work, thin films were deposited by plasma immersion ion implantation and deposition technique from a hexamethyldisilazane/argon mixture at different proportions. These films were subjected to several characterizations, such as, contact angle, which presented values near to 100 degrees, surface energy, with values near to 31 mJ/m2, hardness with values between 0.7 and 2.6 GPa, thickness from 100 to 200 nm, refractive index from 1.56 to 1.64, molecular structure presenting the following functional groups in the infrared spectra region: CHx from 2960 to 2900 cm-1; Si-H around 2130 cm-1; CH3 in Si-(CH3)x around 1410 cm-1; CH3 in Si-(CH3)x in 1260 cm-1; N-H around 1180 cm-1; CH2 in Si-CH2-Si bonds around 1025 cm-1; Si-O in Si-O-Si from 1020 to 1100 cm-1; Si-N in Si-H-Si bonds around 940 cm-1; CH3 in Si-(CH3)3 in 850 cm-1; Si-C bonds in Si-(CH3)2 around 800 cm-1; and Si-H in 680 cm-1 . From these characterizations, it was possible to conclude that the concentration of argon or hexamethyldisilazane in the mixture changed the resulting polymer

Sobre a idade das crises: as inter-relações sujeito-identidade-feminismo na pós-modernidade

This essay intends to think critically and theoretically on the interrelations among subject, identity, and Feminism in the context of Postmodernity, a context which will be herein denominated ―Age of Crises. These three aspects will be approached under a Historical perspective and put into question in a philosophical sight guided by Post-structuralistic theories, especially Derridian Deconstruction. In general, the main objective is to reach into a discussion about the undecidable inter-relation between Feminist thinking and Postmodernity, which is one of the configurations of the many contemporary crises. In order to do so, it will be necessary a previous discussion on the postmodern subject and its identity. This discussion will open up the possibility of contextualizing and discussing Feminism inside the intended objective. This discussion will be structured around the word ―crises which, in a compositional relation to the word ―age, will be taken as a synonym for ―Postmodernity and ―contemporary. ―Age of Crises, ―Postmodernity, ―contemporary, and ―Feminism will be words haunted by the phármakon phenomenon, a key aspect for Derridian Deconstruction, which will be the gravitational force that approximates and separates, in an undecidable relation, those signs.

Clíticos e preposições: a norma e o normal em jornais paulistas (1900 a 1915)

Based on the assertions of the Theory of Linguistic Variation and Change, this paper proposes a discussion about the possible action of linguistic norms over two variable phenomena in Brazilian Portuguese: the position of clitic pronouns associated with a single verb, and the use of prepositions with verbal complements indicating a ?goal/recipient?. By the analysis of data from the newspapers from São Paulo and Rio Claro between (the years of) 1900 and 1915, we intend to describe each phenomenon; compare these descriptions and evaluate the role played by the standard and the common usage which is (already) perceptible in the ?paulistas? continuous published pages of that period.

Plasma concentrations of progesterone, 17 beta-estradiol and androstenedione and superovulatory response of nelore cows (Bos indicus) treated with FSH

Progesterone (P-4), 17 beta- estradiol (E2) and androstenedione (A4) plasma concentrations were correlated with palpated corpora lutea (CL), recovered embryos and viable embryos in 13 Nelore cows induced to superovulate with FSH, starting on Day 10 of the estrous cycle. Administration of FSH increased the number of ovulations and recovered embryos. Plasma P4, E2 and A4 levels on Day O and of P4 on Days 10 and 11 of the cycle were not correlated with the superovulatory response. Determination of CL by palpation per rectum was used to estimate the number of recovered embryos. Plasma P4 levels higher than 1 ng/ml on the induced estrus day (Day 14) had an adverse effect on the embryo viability rate. Plasma E2 concentrations on Day 14 were positively correlated with the number of viable embryos collected, a correlation that has not been previously reported. The present data indicate that plasma P4 and E2 concentrations in FSH-PGF2 alpha-treated Nelore cows are useful for the identification of 2 different populations of Nelore donors and are correlated with superovulatory response and, particularly, with the number of viable embryos.

Utility of inline milk fat and protein ratio to diagnose subclinical ketosis and to assign propylene glycol treatment in lactating dairy cows

The objective was to identify a fat-to-protein ratio (FPR) cut-off to diagnose subclinical ketosis (SCK) and to evaluate the effect of propylene glycol (PPG) treatment of cows with high FPR. The optimized cut-off was > 1.42; sensitivity (Se) = 92%; specificity (Sp) = 65%. A cut-off > 1.5 was selected for the PPG trial for balanced Se-Sp. Fat-to-protein ratio cut-offs > 1.25, 1.35, 1.50, 1.60, and 1.70 resulted in Se-Sp of 100% to 49%, 96% to 59%, 75% to 78%, 33% to 90%, and 8% to 96%, respectively. The proportions of cows with FPR > 1.25, 1.35, 1.42, 1.50, 1.60, and 1.70 were 60%, 50%, 44%, 30%, 14%, and 6%, respectively. Incidences of clinical ketosis and milk yield were similar between cows that received 400 mL of PPG (n = 34) and control cows (n = 38). Prevalence of SCK at enrollment was 29.2%; therefore, FPR > 1.5 is not indicated for treatment. Lower cut-offs should be used for screening.

A complex structure in the (beta+gamma(0)) region of the Cu-Al alloys

The identification, characterization and stability range of the phases present in a series of Cu-Al alloys, with Al content from 11.0 to 15.0 wt.%, were studied by Differential Thermal Analysis (DTA), Optical Microscopy (OM), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), Selected Area Electron Diffraction (SAED), Auger Electron Spectroscopy (AES), Energy Dispersive X-Ray Spectroscopy (EDX) and X-Ray Diffraction (XRD). In some alloys and in a temperature range from 790 degrees C to 850 degrees C the presence of black spots exhibiting regular shapes and an homogeneous distribution was noticed through metallographic microscopy. Data from TEM and AES indicate that these spots are made of two monocrystalline phases having different Al contents and a crystallographic orientation relationship. (C) 1998 Elsevier B.V. S.A. A Razão e o Sagrado: suas contribuições filosóficas para a dessacralização da natureza

Este trabalho tem como objetivo mostrar como se efetuou, historicamente, através das idéias dos filósofos Pitágoras, Parmênides, Sócrates, Platão, Aristóteles, Tomás de Aquino, Francis Bacon, Descartes e Newton, a cisão entre os dois modos de conhecimento, o racional e o sensorial e como foi construída a religião cristã, de onde se originaram seus principais elementos, a imortalidade da alma e a existência de Deus, que fundamentaram uma religião tipicamente antropocêntrica, contributiva para uma visão utilitarista da natureza. Entende-se que estas duas categorias são essenciais para se entender como a natureza passou a ser dessacralizada completamente pelo ser humano e como foram criadas as bases filosóficas para a houvesse a dominação dos homens sobre outros homens, postas em práticas com o advento do capitalismo.
