In this letter, we present different approaches for music genre classification. The proposed techniques, which are composed of a feature extraction stage followed by a classification procedure, explore both the variations of parameters used as input and the classifier architecture. Tests were carried out with three styles of music, namely blues, classical, and lounge, which are considered informally by some musicians as being “big dividers” among music genres, showing the efficacy of the proposed algorithms and establishing a relationship between the relevance of each set of parameters for each music style and each classifier. In contrast to other works, entropies and fractal dimensions are the features adopted for the classifications.

Dark Water is the title of the translation of a short story, ―Floating Water‖, from the book Honogurai mizu no soko kara by Koji Suzuki, originally published in Japan, that the Japanese director Hideo Nakata adapted for the cinema and that was remade by the Brazilian director Walter Salles Jr. The objective of this study is to analyse Walter Salles’ film to demonstrate how it resolved the problems of transcreation, whilst at the same time it fulfilled commercial and artistic functions and incorporated the traces of its aesthetic trajectory. In this case, attention is drawn to the types of relationship between literature and cinema, to the metalinguistic function as a generator of poetics and of an interesting dialogue between genres.

This paper describes a project called “Development of educational workshops on text reading, interpretation and writing in elementary school”, which took place at the São Paulo State University (UNESP) with financial support given by the PROEX-UNESP (Pro-Rectorate of Extension). This project aimed to organize and run educational workshops on reading, interpreting and writing different genres for students enrolled at a public elementary school in São José do Rio Preto, São Paulo state. The analysis of the texts produced by the students unfolded the project into two essential approaches. In the first one, it was possible to identify problems and inaccuracies in language usage, which was the starting point to prepare the minicourses that would be offered. These mini-courses promoted a deep involvement of undergraduate students (in Portuguese Language and Literature) with the practice of Portuguese teaching at the school. In the second one, 5.468 texts, which were produced during the four-year project, founded researches whose goal is to describe processes in which there is a relation between speech and writing, and are based on a theoretical framework that values the multiplicity of literacies associated with social practices experienced by the students. Thus, this extension project aimed to articulate the service to the external community – in this case, public school students - to the internal community – undergraduate students in Portuguese Language and Literature.

In this article we address the causality conveyed by constructions with porque in compositions written by students from a public school. Our purpose is to compare factors of cognitive and discursive order for examining possible motivations related to the variability and to the complexity involved in causal constructions. The analysis that we propose assumes that porque may have different interpretations depending on the context of use and may indicate the cause of an actual event, or the cause of a belief, or the cause of a speech act. We consider some theses of ontogenetic nature that support that the most cognitively complex meanings appear later, but we hold that there are other issues at stake. In what follows, we present evidence that the emergence of different causal relations with porque also takes place as a result of the operation of discourse genres.

The objective was to seek positive and negative values that guide the discourse on conciseness and understand how this concept is understood in speeches in the media when taking the theme of text production. The corpus of work consists of two materials of Portuguese Language Magazine on this topic. The analysis of the corpus was made from Bakhtinian discourse studies, especially considering the concepts of dialogue, utterance and speech genres. The research considers mainly as Bakhtin Circle conceives the production of meaning. At the end, we believe it is important to reflect on the definitions that guide the discourse of conciseness, far in practice they are consistent with our reality of writing

The phenomenon of the World Wide Web, the Internet, has revolutionized the way we live in a contemporary relevance. The relationships among people have changed since the media also changed: the cyberspace has been established as an important vehicle of communication in which different languages, cultures and peoples coexist. Within the virtual space there are several fica possibilities for communication, interaction, fun, knowledge etc. Everything happens extremely quickly. An interesting example of that are blogs that, to survive virtuality, require constant updating. It has become interesting to notice the factor of personal expressiveness taking a new shape in the context of network, before being seen in elements such as diaries, poetry, artistic production or debate. The chances and, thus, the need to find people to interact and to share interests has taken a gigantic proportion, and, in this way, sources of audiovisual and reading activities are always in vogue, being shared every second. Blogging can be about different subjects, but what is perceived on all blogs is the strong trace of written text is always presented. Twitter has established itself as a microblogging network for the expression of dynamism, information sharing and interaction. Thus, it was interesting to approach the manner language is expressed in these microblogs thinking about the way that literary discourse is constructed when is seen, on quotations, in the context of this social network: Twitter. Being able to attest the great increase on the occurrences of quotes from different literary genres, it was useful to pay attention to this fact. In Brazil, Twitter has thousands of users, fans and readers, that rewrite and quote authors. The number of quotations is so abundant that it has popularized several Brazilian writers, such as: Clarice Lispector and Caio Fernando Abreu; authors that are frequetenly quoted. So, we made usage of semiotic studies of the French line. In...

This paper proposes a discursive analysis of teachers‘s blogs , particularly those accessible from the MEC site : http://portaldoprofessor.mec.gov.br/links.html . The aim is to analyze , dialogically, based on Bakhtinian discourse studies the speech of Portuguese language teachers on the internet , and to investigate aspects of the discourse genre blog , this specialized sphere of circulation :whether it is a means of exposing themselves, whether they are professional media extent , reflect about how to produce the identity of the Portuguese language teachers in such discourse . The axes of reflection on identity , in this case , are four: the subject‘sthe discourse about themselvesand their peers , how the subject shows itself tothe analyst - researcher in dialogue with others in history ( teachers , students , interested in issues of language , official documents ), how it can be seen by the analyst - researcher considering using resources ( videos , photos , literary genres, etc. ), how it is seen by those who comment your say

The present work has as object of study the writing practices of emergent writers on the internet, more precisely their blogs and websites. Literary blogs came up as an option so that emergent writers could make public their works more easily, since the process of publishing books through publishing houses is lengthy e more limited. Through readings of Bakhtin and The Circle texts, we used some concepts, such as discourse genres and dialog, to make a dialogical analysis of the corpus. The main focus of this work are the dialog relations found in blogs and the different ways they appear, for instance the dialog established between writer and reader and the dialog between the discourse genres found in the blogs and other genres. The study of the relation writer/reader is very important, because there is a change in the way the reader receives the text depending on the support through which it is diffused, just like there is a change in the relation between reader and writer, who become closer

This study presents a brief reflection on the genesis of literary genres in Ancient Greece. It is intended here, in the first place, take us off this "comfort zone" when we talk about "Greek literature" in antiquity, at least from the period of Homer until the fifth century. B.C. , moment when, in fact, the writing has become stable not only in the continent but spreads out reaching the Italian peninsula and generating what we have today as the Roman alphabet. Therefore, we examine some terms that appear to be so clear for us which termed other doings, such as poetry, poem, among others. We also examine issues concerning the epic, lyrical and dramatic poetry.

The novels that make up this book are the work of writing and tone of nuance. They refer to literary genres, without, however, respect their definitions. There are demarcation of famous texts, but that refer more to modes, themes, and aesthetic conventions. Here, the poet makes variations on familiar themes, and explore his Moralités arguments that belong to a cultural background: the myth of Hamlet, approached the novel here mentioned belong to a cultural heritage that an author set for posterity. In other novels, the author makes use of myths Greco-Latin and Judeo-Christian myths rewriting so parodic, ironic, looking for originality, doing the work of Symbolist and modern poet.

This paper is part of a larger project. The purpose of this paper is to discuss the movie Girl With a Pearl Earring (2003) by Peter Webber using the theoretical perspective of dialogue from the Bakhtin Circle, Medved, Volochinov. The multidisciplinary and interartistic potential of cinema is considered in this paper when the linguistic organization and the translinguistic elements in the corpus are focused on and understood as an example of cinema genre as discussed in the Russian Circle. The study of the ways of incorporation of different genericities by cinema, illustrated by the dialogues between the pictorial genre, the novel and the movies contribute to the recognition of the cinema as a genre that is composed by the incorporation of other genres. The construction of the cinematographic work in analysis will be regarded in its architectonic (form, content and style) and in the activity field in which it circulates.
