The orthodontic movement is a result of the system of forces application and it depends on the response of periodontal tissues to this system. The forces must have a magnitude considered ideal, to has maximum response of tissue without pain or root resorption, and keep the health of the periodontal ligament, during all the tooth movement. Therefore, it seems adequate by means of an available literature to estimate parameters of ideal force, for different types of movements; with intention of assisting the orthodontists in optimum control of the tooth movement and thus to diminish the possibility to generate deleterious effects.

Two experiments were carried out to evaluate the effect of adding glutamine, fish oil or yeast cellular wall to the diet of weaned piglets on the expression of the enzyme ornithine decarboxylase (ODC), the protein content and DNA in small intestine samples and on performance. In the first experiment, 24 weaned piglets were used to measure the performance at the phases prestarter, starter 1 and starter 2. Four diets were tested (T1 -basal diet (BD); T2 -BD + 1% of glutamine; T3 -BD + 0,2% of yeast cellular wall; T4 -BD + 5% of fish oil). At the second experiment 45 weaned piglets were used and distributed in a randomized block design, in factorial outline with four diets and three slaughter ages (on the day of weaning, on the seventh and fourteenth days postweaning). The tested diets did not alter the piglets' performance in none of the phases. There was reduction of the expression of the ODC enzyme, of the protein concentration and of the relationship protein/DNA to the seven days postweaning, with increase of the values on the 14th day, evidencing a state of hypotrophy of the mucous membrane, suggesting that the process of protein synthesis in the small intestine was diminished in the first week after weaning, but it presented recovery signs in the second week.

Sowing crops following cover crops on forage may cause injuries and productivity reduction, due reasons as allelopathy or glyphosate residues. The objective of this study was to evaluate the influence of differing periods between cover crop (Urochloa ruziziensis) desiccation with glyphosate and sunflower (Aguara 4) sowing in a no-tillage system on crop development and productivity. Two assays were performed in two seasons, one in pots and the other in a field. Treatments in field assay consisted on 5 desiccation times of U. ruziziensis (with an application of glyphosate at 1.08 kg ae ha(-1)) preceding the sowing of no-till sunflower (0, 3, 7, 10 and 30 days). At the pot assays, 6 times were studied: 0, 3, 7, 10, 15 and 20 days between cover crop desiccation and sunflower sowing. A control without cover crop was also included in this assay. Biometric evaluations were performed at the vegetative stage and at harvest. As the period between U. ruziziensis desiccation and sunflower sowing was shortened, achene production in sunflower was exponentially reduced. Glyphosate application at 3 or 0 days pre sowing diminished sunflower development and achene production by approximately 30% compared to desiccation periods greater than 7 days.
