Esta pesquisa teve como objetivo caracterizar os padrões de consumo de bebida alcoólica e a prevalência de indicadores de ansiedade e depressão, em universitários. Foram investigados 200 alunos, em série consecutiva, oriundos dos cursos de Biologia, Ecologia, Educação Física e Pedagogia. Os métodos consistiram na aplicação de escalas especializadas para verificação de padrões de consumo de álcool e sintomas de ansiedade e depressão, respectivamente, o SADD (Short Alcohol Dependence Data) e a HAD (Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale). Os resultados mostraram que, dos 200 alunos, 17 (8,5%) apresentavam comportamento de uso abusivo de álcool, com riscos para a saúde física e mental. Ainda, 53 alunos (26,5%) revelaram indicadores positivos de ansiedade e 16 (8%), de depressão. Destes 53 alunos com indicadores positivos de ansiedade, 8 (15,1%) faziam uso abusivo de álcool e, dos 16 alunos com sintomas depressivos, 8 (50%) tinham comportamento de consumo abusivo de álcool, com riscos para a saúde física e mental. Os autores concluíram que o uso abusivo de álcool pode estar associado à presença de sofrimento psíquico, principalmente ansiedade e depressão. E propõem que se discuta a necessidade de criação de um Serviço de Saúde Mental para atendimento da comunidade universitária.

Introduction: Physical inactivity is identified as the fourth greatest risk factor of mortality worldwide. Little is known about how physical inactivity alters the demand for use of primary health care services, and it is a subject which demands further investigation. Objective: This study aims to determine the influence that physical activity has on the demand for use of primary health care services. Methods: This is a retrospective and cross-sectional study. The Rio Claro Active Health Program (SARC), studied in this research, is a partnership between the Municipal Health Foundation and Universidade Estadual Paulista Julio de Mesquita Filho (UNESP), represented by the Nucleus of Physical Activity, Sport and Health (NAFES) department of Physical Education and coordinated by Prof. Dr. Eduardo Kokubun. The study was carried out on residents of Rio Claro of both sexes seen at SARC. To assess the influence that physical activity had on the demand of the use of health services a questionnaire was given to participants who had attended the program since 2009. This questionnaire contains questions concerning the level of physical activity, health service use, number of both blood pressure and glucose measurement takings, number of spontaneous and scheduled medical visits, number of medications taken, number of illnesses and hospitalizations, comparing the data found in the previous year and the year after the program began. An informed term of consent was used for research participants. Descriptive analysis was carried out, using frequency, mean, maximum and minimum standard deviation. News of the fifth version of Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5) bringing an enlarged listing of diagnostic possibilities has fomented discussion concerning the tendency, recognizable in contemporary psychiatric practices, of including ordinary suffering of everyday life in psychiatric diagnosis and submit same to psychopharmacological treatment. The present paper brings to this discussion data obtained from field research about the prescription of psychopharmacs in the psychiatric care of a public mental health service. The results reveal that the psychiatry of the service keeps practically all of its users under prescription, and that medical discharge is extremely rare. The paper organizes elements critical to this practice and concludes that due to its inadequacy as to the objectives of promotion of personalized care concerned with autonomy and citizenship, present in the current national guidelines for public policies in mental health.

Introduction: The discrimination experienced by people with HIV / AIDS, not only by society but also by health professionals is one of the major problems observed relative the epidemic. Objective: To verify and to analyze the occurrence of discriminatory attitudes in the assistance to the health of people living with HIV/AIDS. Methods: It was a quantitative research was carried out with the participation of sixty-eight HIV-positive individuals from four Brazilian cities. The participants answered auto-administrate questionnaires that contained open and closed questions including the considered subject. Results: 41.2% of the total participants, HIV + people, said they had been discriminated against by health professionals. Among the discriminatory situations experienced by HIV patients, 34.2% nursing professionals were involved, in 34.2% dentists and in 31.6% doctors were involved. Those who have suffered discrimination, 78.6% said they had been discriminated against in public health service. Conclusion: The occurrence of discrimination in the assistance to the health of HIV-positive patients was high. The majority of discrimination situations occurred in the public health service. It is necessary the institution of strategies aiming at human attendance to these patients.

Introduction: The quality of life of dentists has worsened over time, due to increased risks of labor and competitiveness in the labor market. However, there are only few studies about it. Objective: Investigate the perception of quality of life of dentists working in public service. Methods: In order to accomplish that, a cross-sectional study survey was conducted with 52 dentists of the professional permanent staff of the Municipal Health Service. The data were collected through structured questionnaire, validated, self-administered, proposed by the World Health Organization (WHO) in its shortened version, WHOQOL-Bref. Descriptive statistics and multiple regression were conducted, taking 95% as the confidence interval that characterizes the sample and the calculation of scores for each domain. Results: There was predominance of female subjects (76.9%) the majority of them aged 25 to 35 years (48.7%). Most professionals consider their quality of life good (82.7%), and were satisfied with their health (71.2%). Considering the measures of central tendency and dispersion, the physical domain (13.8) and Environment (13.8) had the lowest mean scores. All areas affected equally poor quality of life of research participants. The facets that showed the lowest values were the physical environment with 39.71 points and 53.92 points to financial resources. Conclusion: The majority of professionals were satisfied with their health and considered their quality of life good.

In recent years the environment and its effects on human life has been the subject of research. The scientific society organized to manage the problem of large amount of waste generated, discuss the degradation of the environment and point out possible solutions. The scarcity of references in the specific hemotherapy motivated this research. This study is an observational descriptive in order to raise the issue of hospital waste specific area of hemotherapy, presenting its latest ratings on Brazilian law also highlights the proposed Waste Management Program Health Service (PGRSS) Blood Center of Botucatu (HB) highlighting the importance of segregation of noble material in the generation of other therapeutic products using the technique of cleaner production (CP). The observational analysis of the reports shows a 20-fold increase in the amount of waste generated from 1993 to 2005, while the increase of manpower was 2.5 times. The increase in generation was due RSS hemocenter deployment of automated techniques, increased demand and improved sorting of waste. The technique implanted P + L in 2001 began using units of fresh frozen plasma, previously discarded after 12 months of storage, for the composition of new therapeutics for topical use, called bio dressing. In 10 years of implementation of this new technique, therapeutic products generated 535 patients benefited from micro-Botucatu.
