Phenomenology of OCD: Lessons from a large multicenter study and implications for ICD-11

This study aimed to investigate the phenomenology of obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), addressing specific questions about the nature of obsessions and compulsions, and to contribute to the World Health Organization's (WHO) revision of OCD diagnostic guidelines. Data from 1001 patients from the Brazilian Research Consortium on Obsessive Compulsive Spectrum Disorders were used. Patients were evaluated by trained clinicians using validated instruments, including the Dimensional Yale Brown Obsessive Compulsive Scale, the University of Sao Paulo Sensory Phenomena Scale, and the Brown Assessment of Beliefs Scale. The aims were to compare the types of sensory phenomena (SP, subjective experiences that precede or accompany compulsions) in OCD patients with and without tic disorders and to determine the frequency of mental compulsions, the co-occurrence of obsessions and compulsions, and the range of insight. SP were common in the whole sample, but patients with tic disorders were more likely to have physical sensations and urges only. Mental compulsions occurred in the majority of OCD patients. It was extremely rare for OCD patients to have obsessions without compulsions. A wide range of insight into OCD beliefs was observed, with a small subset presenting no insight. The data generated from this large sample will help practicing clinicians appreciate the full range of OCD symptoms and confirm prior studies in smaller samples the degree to which insight varies. These findings also support specific revisions to the WHO's diagnostic guidelines for OCD, such as describing sensory phenomena, mental compulsions and level of insight, so that the world-wide recognition of this disabling disorder is increased. A aplicação de tópicos de História da Química no processo de ensino e aprendizagem: dificuldades dos alunos

This research project aims to determine the main way that the inclusion of topics of history and philosophy of science education activities aimed at high school, influence the process of teaching and learning of chemistry. The subject of research will be a teacher, undergraduate student in chemistry and public school students that the teaching units developed will be applied. The literature presents a large of research indicating the need to include these topics in education and present the results of large withdrawals of original sources of the development of scientific knowledge. Despite of the large number of these works are not very common reports of application of the results of these studies on activities of the classroom, which reinforces the importance of this study

A cultura corporal na mídia: possibilidades pedagógicas para a educação física escolar

The Physical education has as objective the students integration in the body movement culture, forming citizens to reframe different cultural aspects of the physical activity, enabling a more critical look. Currently selecting how the body movement culture has been widely approached by Mass Media it is detected a new pedagogical possibility. The several media equipment massively bomb (images, sounds and information) interfering on how the students interpret the reality, since they are exposed to these multiple information and at the same time are absent of a more critical look about what they receive. In this way, the objective of this work was to perform a research in the news/articles from the Jornal A Folha de São Paulo, that allows the development of classes based on the elements of body movement culture and apply them in a public school from Rio Claro-SP city, to detect possibilities and difficulties in the work with the media in the school environment. It employed a qualitative research. The data obtained in this study indicate that the media shows up as a good teaching tool for teaching physical education classes, since students found the classes to enriching the learning process, highlighting topics such as innovation and the closeness they had with the worked information. However, it is necessary to develop further studies to raise other possibilities as well as alternatives to deal with this new reality of the school context

Pluralidade cultural e educação física: elaboração de material didático

In 1997, the National Curriculum Parameters (BRASIL, 1997a) proposed the incorporation of the Transversal Themes in all of the knowledge areas. Specifically in the School Physical Education, the teacher working with transversality must stabilish bridges between the body culture practice with these themes. Promote this relationship is not a simple task and there are many problems that stuck the advance of this propose. So, thinking about making didactical formulat teaching stragies and think about the development of their practice. Another challenge is considerate as a beginning in the pedagogic activity the student’s knowledge and experience, as listening during the process of knowledge construction. In this way, the aim of this research is investigate the 8th and 9th grade of the primary school students conception about Cultural Plurality. After this, using the information taken gron the students, we are going to present subisidies to make a textbook, for the teachers and for students, with Physical Education activities possibilies with this Transversal Theme. Keeping in mind the aim of this research, we used the semi-structed interview as a instrument of data collection. The interview was made with 30 students of the 8th and 9th grade the primary school from two statual schools of Rio Claro city. The procediments were executed following the ethics comite requirements. In other to associate the Cultural Plurality with Physical Education, dance and physical adventure activities contents were selected. The results showed that the students know few thinks about this Transversal Themes, because they had apoor knowledge, according to National Curriculum Parameters. In scholar environment and Physical Education classes, there are many cases of prejudice and discrimination, mostly by the leack of ability.
