Equality and Inequalities in Health and Social Care in Northern Ireland

A Statistical Overview: 2002 Following some scene setting, the report draws together wide ranging information to document inequalities in health and social care in Northern Ireland that are relevant to the New Targeting Social Need (New TSN) policy, including the base report of the ‘Inequalities Monitoring System’. The overview also documents comparisons between people living in rural and non-rural areas, and between the statutory equality categories of Section 75 of the Northern Ireland Act. While some of the information has been previously published most of the results are new, and the majority of the new analyses has been undertaken by IAD. åÊ

A management development strategy for the health and personal social services in Ireland

The integration of personal and organisational objectives is a notoriously difficult task but a systematic approach to training and development provides a powerful source of integration. A model illustrating how management development can occupy the 'middle ground' where organisational and individual development overlap is included in this report. Management development must be just one part of a continum, starting with workforce planning and recruitment and selection, and leading to training and development, succession planning and career development.

Healthy Ireland - A Framework for Improved Health and Wellbeing 2013 - 2025

Healthy Ireland is a new national framework for action to improve the health and wellbeing of our country over the coming generation. Based on international evidence, it outlines a new commitment to public health with a considerable emphasis on prevention, while at the same time advocating for stronger health systems. It provides for new arrangements to ensure effective co-operation between the health sector and other areas of Government and public services, concerned with social protection, children, business, food safety, education, housing, transport and the environment. It also invites the private and voluntary sector to participate through well-supported and mutually beneficial partnerships. Cardiovascular health and wellbeing profile for Northern Ireland

The PHA, supported by the Institute of Public Health in Ireland (IPH) and other agencies and individuals, has completed a health impact assessment (HIA) on the Cardiovascular Service Framework (CVSFW) for Northern Ireland.The CVSFW is the first in a series of service frameworks developed in Northern Ireland to guide HSC provision from prevention and health improvement over early intervention in communities and general practice into hospital and other institutional settings towards rehabilitation, palliative care and end of life.The CVSFW is relevant to everyone who has a part in HSC services for health improvement, hypertension, hyperlipidaemia, diabetes, heart disease, cerebrovascular disease (stroke), peripheral vascular disease and renal disease. This includes patients, carers, families, communities, voluntary and statutory service providers, policy makers and researchers.
