Automatic visual dictionary generation through optimum-path forest clusteringautomatic visual dictionary generation through optimum-path forest clustering

Image categorization by means of bag of visual words has received increasing attention by the image processing and vision communities in the last years. In these approaches, each image is represented by invariant points of interest which are mapped to a Hilbert Space representing a visual dictionary which aims at comprising the most discriminative features in a set of images. Notwithstanding, the main problem of such approaches is to find a compact and representative dictionary. Finding such representative dictionary automatically with no user intervention is an even more difficult task. In this paper, we propose a method to automatically find such dictionary by employing a recent developed graph-based clustering algorithm called Optimum-Path Forest, which does not make any assumption about the visual dictionary's size and is more efficient and effective than the state-of-the-art techniques used for dictionary generation.

Poesia visual e poética postal

Ce travail cherche montrer quelques caractéristiques de la Poésie Visuel, expresion artistique qui melange le langage verbal et le langage visuel à tel point qu´on ne peut pas afirmer une classification appuyée sur les genres traditionnels. Aprés une curte presentation des chemins et des points polémiques de cette esthétique, on analyse comme exemple deux compositions sorties de le grand réseau de communication de l´Art Postal qui est né les années soixante et survit aujourd´hui avec intensité. L´Art Postal a une structure fondé sur la simultanéité de l´information que ressamble à la forme de la poésie visuel. Cettes compositions contemporaines sont confrontées à la tradition du poème visuel qui commence peut-être à l´époque des premiers écrits de hiéroglyphe. Elles sont analysées, donc, dans son originalité. A partir des analyses realisées dans le but de révéler les significations, on arrive à la question proposé par Wilcon Joia Pereira : la nécessité de se comprendre d´une façon nouvelle les expériences esthétiques oú les mots deviennent des images

Since prehistoric man seeks to dominate play scenes and images of their daily lives, to understand them or dominate. In the theater, the man tried to represent hunting scenes and deities. Since the first creation material representative of the gods, these objects acquire magical powers. After a long time, came the Puppet Theater, which through the use of various materials, the man concocted dolls in his image and likeness, as well as representations of animals. Subsequently, the Theater of Animated FormsVisual involved various props, like the mask, the shadow and the object. Thus, these elements can appear all together or not in the same show and are, therefore, the Theater of Animated Forms. How important human need to understand the world and events around them, the arts were needed to explain the divine and unreachable. Clumping the four languages of art: music, plastic arts, dance and theater, the Theater of Animated Forms of so characteristic of the man in search of the divine and sublime sentiments or not. In Brazil, faced with a multitude of excellent groups Theater of Animated Forms, the Sobrevento Group stands to monitor on an extensive repertoire theoretical foundation for the themes of the pieces created, and the high level of aesthetic sensitivity and artistic creation through is the dummies used in your repertoire. This article is inserted in a study aimed at the identification of the main barriers for the inclusion of visually-impaired students in Physics classes. It focuses on the understanding of the communication context which facilitates or hardens the effective participation of students with visual impairment in Mechanics activities. To do so, the research defines, from empirical - sensory and semantic structures, the language to be applied in the activities, as well as, the moment and the speech pattern in which the languages have been used. As a result, it identifies the rela tion between the uses of the interdependent audio-visual empirical lan guage structure in the non-interactive episodes of authority; the decrease in the use of this structure in interactive episodes; the creation of educa tional segregation environments within the classroom and the frequent use of the interdependent tactile-hearing empirical language structure in such environments.

This article represents a continuation of the results of a research presented in Camargo and Nardi (2007). It is inserted in the study that seeks to understand the main student’s inclusion barriers with visual impairment in the Physics classes. It aims to understand which communication context shows kindness or unkindness to the impairment visual student’s real participation in thermology activities. For this, the research defines, from the empirical - sensory and semantics structures, the used languages in the activities, as well, the moment and the speech pattern in which the languages have been used. As result, identifies a strong relation between the uses of the interdependent empirical structure audio-visual language in the non-interactive episodes of authority; a decrease of this structure use in the interactive episodes and the creation of education segregation environments within the classroom.

Processo e produção visual do graffitti na cidade de Bauru/SP - Brasil: um estudo etnográfico

The graffiti is a calligraphic inscription or a drawn painted or engraved over a supported not normally used for this purpose. This artistic manifestation has been gaining more notoriety as an element of expression, reflection and actuation in the urban environment, since it is present in the streets and public ways reaching many observers with different repertoires and looks. This recent movement in Brazil has its first records in the early 80’s, but it is noteworthy that this event continues in an emergence process, consolidating increasingly as an artistic movement, in broad development, elaborating new technics, readjust and re-signifying its elements, re-improving and generating different values for the spaces. With the purpose to map the graffiti artists in Bauru/SP – Brazil, it was done an ethnography that allows to point some specific local characteristics; the relation between the artist and the city, and; the relation between the townsman and the graffiti.

A estética japonesa na cultura brasileira: reflexões a partir de um estudo etnofotográfico sobre a performance ritual da festa da Cerejeira de Garça-SP

Aiming to understand the Japanese aesthetic in Brazilian culture and to produce a photographic exhibition of artistic and ethnographic nature, we performed a symbolic exegesis of the ritual performance of Garça Cherry Festival - SP (Brazil). The event takes place annually and is held in memory and honor of oriental culture. The festival features various elements of Japanese culture through expressive forms such as dance, music, costumes, martial arts and cooking. Therefore, the study was based on the anthropology of performance and visual anthropology with regard to symbolic exegesis of the party and look artistic and ethnographic photographic records of the proceedings. Such procedures supported the realization of artistic display that contributed, in turn, in promoting the local culture to a wider audience, and, methodologically, have contributed in visual identification and interpretation of the cultural elements of the ceremony.
